Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Game is already avaiable here in Portugal in any known gameshop, for PS3 and PC. Didn´t see any xbox version though.

Anyone want to play with me to test the online mode 2vs2? I have 24h to try the game. PS3 version plz.

I was in every store of Portugal's biggest mall and not even one is selling the game. In any version. If you meant that they're already sending the pre-orders that may be, if not you're full of shit when you say it's already available in any known store and you should it shit for a month for posting bad information.

Cheers

Considering its strictly no Fifa talk I see the PES fans cant resist putting there little digs in. Its like 'PES isnt great but at least its better than Fifa'.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

the game is great and a real improvement, its like pes 5 but then next gen, love the cl mode, love the be a legend mode, hate the fact that it still not fully licenced and that transfers/line ups are still not there or fully accurate so yea thats my 00,1

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Was it a bad connection or more of the same?

Go back a few pages (or 1 dunno for sure) in this thread, a guy from greece said he has played some matches with no lag at all. But we'll have to wait untill the game is fully released and the servers are really busy to see if it's gonna provide us some smooth online play.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Fnac and also a shop the sells games on 2 hand(think they have it in lisbon to). They said the plain arrive 14 and by 18 they will have it in the shop

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Recieved my game this morning and overall I like it. A lot better than PES 2008 and seems to have gameplay in comparison to PES 5. I'll be back with a more detailed review just want to get a few more games in before giving my final verdict.

Has anyone played online yet?

I have. It's basically the same layout as Pes 2008. Have had about 3 matches and in all the online lag was atrocious... teleporting, players not responding etc. Slightly better than PES 2008 but not by much.

Hope that update on Friday sorts all this lag out.

The final sentence is key, I hope Konami take it on board and not dismiss it.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I'm sure all the shops I went to gave it already, but they're not selling it. Fnac and Replay Zone were 2 of the store I visited. Hope you have better luck.

Whoever asked about the champions league batches before, just to clarify they are not there.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Maybe there's hope that the CL patches are available on the update on launch day, to make it equal to WE2009?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Nothing on Worten (Lousã), but they said it'd come out tomorrow...
Not so sure if I want to spend 5 euros to travel all the way to Coimbra only to know that FNAC ain't selling it earlier :/

May be. That would be sensible. Doesn't bother me too much right now but updates to the game can only be a good thing.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Why can't i hear my own mp3 chants when i play online? That is rather dissapointing.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

can any of u guys with the full version, confirm this little detail for me?
Can u see untucked jerseys from the playing cameras(tele, wide)? cause in the demo u could only see them during cutscenes or closeups.

thanx

Eventually some fair pes review, it took years but at the end it has become a fact that the game is really sinking.

Eurogamer: 7/10

I like the fact that dont wax lyrical just cos the game is improved on 2008.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I am not going to try and diss that review, because it does make some fair points.

However, the two points they picked the most being the 8-directional movement and the faces, I must question the extent to which they actually dedicated to one game and the other.

Saying that 8-directional movement in PES is a hindrance compared to FIFA's freedom of movement - when FIFA is also 8-directional movement - especially when they refer that the BAL mode from PES suffers with it while FIFA's BAP benefits from FIFA's "freedom" must be taken with several grains of salt. Unless there's something missing here - and I have been playing BAP:Seasons since FIFA came out - I do not find it the least more controllable compared to PES. Also, the animations in FIFA end up with me losing the ball most of the time because the time they take is the time that the CPU also takes to close me down - unless I play with top teams, that is.

Second, the faces - subjective or not - are not worse than FIFA's to a point where they can make it a flagship for their criticism.

The rest is all fair, I guess. I am not discussing the 7/10, just the arguments they used to end up there.

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Just a quick update, so that people do not get their hopes up - which I was actually getting!

We've just been informed that there will be an online update for PES 2009 on launch day. Precisely what this update will offer is still not clear at this moment in time but we are hoping that it may add something tasty.

The update doesn't refer to transfers at all. Please do not begin assuming that it will be squad updates, otherwise there will be a huge letdown from people here.

My game was shipped this morning... I'd like to believe that it would arrive by Friday.

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

FIFA's only got 360º in passing. But... so does PES.

Well... before someone else complains, I'll do it more gently ;)

Apparently, the educated FIFA guys say that FIFA's passing is indeed 360º.

PES's, however, is only - once again, apparently - 16-directions.

Also, in FIFA, using the right stick, sure you can bump the ball forward in some directions which are different than the 8-directions only. Not sure about 360º, still.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

dude, i seriously doubt there's "real" 360º passing, so 16 directions oughta be approximate. why do you say 16? do you like the number?

:P

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I'm not 100% sure if passing is 360, for a start it would only be 360 if you played on manual (which most don't) and even then I think, but I could be wrong, that it uses 16 basic directions and the AI "tweaks" each direction slightly based on the angle of the player the game thinks you are aiming for. So if you press the exact same direction twice but the player is in a foot or two either side of where he was the first time, because there are only sixteen basic directions, it will hit it 10% slightly left/right of the basic direction pressed.

And if you press a basic direction where there is no player at all, it will be a pass in that perfect direction to nobody, which hopefully one of your players will see and adjust his run to fetch it. But again, I can't be certain about this, that's just the impression I get after playing fully manual a few times (including last night when I just wanted to see how difficult it was, the answer - very).

And knock-ons (with the right stick) are 8-direction, with running/sprinting 16-direction.

(I'm talking about FIFA 09 here if anyone is confused, responding to the posts above)
