Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I read on the official Ps3 mag they're doing an update for transfers - is Rivaldo still there after an update?

Can we edit transfers ourselves?

You can edit all transfers and all clubs (though the licensed ones have limitations) - or create whole clubs from scratch, including kits, badges, flags, chants, new players etc etc...

We can download OF's for the PS3 version which will fix kits etc?

Hell yea! You could with 08 too (import OF with USB), but the editor was limited - look back about 3 pages to see what has been made already using the new editor - the kits are virtually 'licensed' they are that good.

EDIT, it was about 8 pages  http://forums.evo-web.co.uk/showpost.php?p=1473098&postcount=8240

And that will be for ALL teams - and other things like MP3s of real club chants. Again, Kenny put a YT vid up a few pages back of a Liverpool game full of Liverpool chants that have been imported via USB.

I got my copy, spent about 5 hours playing it.

I have now arranged for my mate to give me a refund after I told him I hated the game, he agreed with me wholeheartedly and I am going to get my money back later.

Hopefully a lot of others see sense and do the same.

Absolutely shocking, and a lot worse than PES2008.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I thought they were for the PC version. That's interesting then.

I'll be honest and say I think FIFA 09 might be starting to feel a bit repetative now :(( I just don't like the PES demo though but I might have to give it another go.

How is it worse than 2008?

The demo is miles better than 2008 - and I liked 2008 in the end.

Would love to hear how its 'worse' :))

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Game is already avaiable here in Portugal in any known gameshop, for PS3 and PC. Didn´t see any xbox version though.

Anyone want to play with me to test the online mode 2vs2? I have 24h to try the game. PS3 version plz.

I've sent you a PM.

cheers

Why do you say 'see sense' as if, if anyone else says otherwise then they're not right ? And why hopefully? what are you hoping will happen?

I just don't like the PES demo though but I might have to give it another go.

I hated it at first - it felt really stiff to move but after releasing the run button and playing against the misses it's grown on me. I've scored some stunning goals and some scrappy ones and the tackling just makes me go weak at the knees at times - I adore a good sliding tackle especially to block a shot and you just can't do that on fifa.

Now after a day of playing nothing but the PES09 demo when I went back to FIFA it felt awful. Way too much animation and the response times were shocking.

Yes fishy like a complete fishing boat :D

I have the game since yesterday ( played the 360 version )and the people who already mentioned that it is graphical better than the demo are right; it looks a lot sharper on the pitch, especially in daylight.
The animations are also slightly better than in the demo and somehow it looks like the animations are better with slower pacing teams.
The AI is surely better, especially when playing the Master League. The CPU surely adopts to you if you play the same tactics in more matches in a row.
Online ( LIVE ) is lagless, although I only played 1.5 match ( thrown out in the first one after a "disc is not readable" - error ). So absolutely no complaints in that department. I hosted both games, so maybe joining is different, I don't know.
Other things are yet to be tested, so I keep it by this small report.

I just hope the PS2 version doesn't have the same kicking sound effects from the 360 demo. It does make me chuckle. I work in sound myself, so that sort of thing really bugs me.

No, I say see sense as in I hope others will agree, take the game back, and make Konami suffer for a year. I have been a fan since the ISS days on the N64, and I have purchased every game down the lines since, even PES2008 for that matter.

It just all feels stupidly arcadey now, I feel like when I was playing Virtua Striker as a kid on the broken pad down at the local amusements. It feels like it's gone back in time to me, and Konami have effortlessly rolled out another edition of this game, with slight tweaks from a game I had to basically force myself to enjoy. (2008)

Now, DO NOT say I am a fanboy or anything, I liked Fifa 08 for a couple of weeks then got bored of it to the extent I didn't play it for the rest of the year. I have however not got bored of 09 at all yet, and it is such a more in-depth football game that has clearly had time spent on working out what actually happens during a football match.

"I adore a good sliding tackle especially to block a shot and you just can't do that on fifa." I can't understand this comment, I like a nice sliding tackle as much as the next person, and maybe it is different on Fifa, but on PES the player slides in at the exact same angle every time, when does that happen IRL?

As for: "Now after a day of playing nothing but the PES09 demo when I went back to FIFA it felt awful. Way too much animation and the response times were shocking." I am going to do that in a minute, I'll let you know how it honestly feels for me. I do know what you mean with regards to that though, it happened to me with PES2008/FIFA08.

Hmmm - something very fishy about this post! :LMAO:

Clearly, keep laughing your arse off.

it can't be worse than 2008. you're just enfuriated.

How do you work out that it can't be worse? Anything can be worse..

I 100% agree that the graphics look better, close up more than anything, which you see about 5% of during a match.

I also agree that the animations have slightly improved.

I haven't played ML yet, have you though, or are you just listening to what Seabass has told you?

I have heard different about online, from people joining games.

I also agree other things are yet to be tested, I don't doubt that, I just feel that the game has drfited miles from reality and it's not really something that I want to spend my time playing.

I respect other peoples opinions, but I stand by my comment that I hope people take it back, as it would be nice for Konami to take a blow for a change and maybe realise that they're not cutting it any more with their measly updates.

I leave this completely open for discussion, afterall, it is only my opinion.

Sounds like you smack a 40 yard shot with every slight touch of the ball.

Is that an insult of my intelligence?? :D
I know, I tend to be positive and if Seabass says something in an interview I have no way to check if he is telling the thruth. Now however, I have played the game myself and there is nothing wrong with my observation abilities :CW:

On fifa if a player is about to pass or shoot and you slide in front of them *1 you grind to a halt as if you're sliding on concrete *2 the slide takes a while to actually happen so you either do it early and risk letting them walk around you or you do it late and hack them down *3 even if you manage to slide and get the ball on time if you kick the ball away and then they run into you and fall over its a foul as you tackled them without the ball.

It's hardly ever worth sliding on fifa and it's been like that for years. Especially as you can just run into them now and knock the players over and get the ball that way.

On pes i can run at someone from the side and tap slide tackle to slide in front of them taking the ball or blocking a pass.

I love being able to do that and its one big thing im not happy with in fifa. Everyone is different, some people love a beauty of a diving header, others love loose nets, others go crazy for untucked shirts - but as I enjoy defending sliding tackles are a big factor for me.

-

Saying "when does that happen IRL?" isn't a good argument as most things you see in PES and FIFA hardly ever happen in real life. Rooney doing backflips after scoring a goal or Gary Neville scoring a overhead kick - and then you have the exploit goals in both games (i only know of fifas but im assuming there are some exploits for PES) and in fifa you can score from stupid angles and trick the goalkeeper into diving late. There are a few videos in the fifa thread of free kicks from near the corner flag that go in when they never should.

Do impossible angle goals happen in real? yes... but that doesn't mean they should happen every time.

If fifa was bug free this year id probably overlook a lot of the little annoyances - but Manager mode in that game was my main mode to play and as its the same as last years i feel like im playing fifa 08 with bells and whistles.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Sorry Shockin' but I think you are talking out of your arse.

Considering you didn't have the game at 10pm last night, you came on here at 11pm and called it the worst game ever.

Time traveller or bullshitter - which is it?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I'm shocked someone could form that sort of opinion having only played the game for a couple of hours.

Sounds like turd to to me.

What annoys me in FIFA with the slide tackles, is that they are always at 45-degree angles, making it virtually impossible to get alongside someone and slide them.

Like you, I love that in PES, you can get along side, do a slide and anything can happen! Either the ball will get knocked away, or the other player will stumble and carry on, or you can hook the ball away from them, go through them like Vinnie Jones etc.

Its much more varied and that is one thing that ruins FIFA for me.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

When your playing, see how many times a player will take on a pass or shot with the wrong (not strongest) foot!

I spent 20mins last night trying to force Rooney to hit a shot with his left foot!

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

The depth of field effect has been toned down in replays from what i can see

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I think they might have toned down the depth of field a bit in replays. Certainly noticed it compared with the demo

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

God, do you guys get offended easily or what? How many times do I need tell you I'm expressing my opinions? Here we go again..

I appreciate you don't like the tackling, I've genuinely not really found it a major issue in this one for me yet. I find it probably a bit easy to tackle in PES if anything, and this makes it a bit more rewarding if you manage to in FIFA. For me, at least. When I play it again in a bit I'll take in what you've said and see if it feels the same for me, but as stated, I've not noticed it yet.

As for your "when does that happen IRL?" response, I think you've gone off-track a touch. From a sliding tackle at the same angle every time to going on about Gary Neville's overhead kicks? I also don't know about the exploit goals yet, nor have I seen them. I'll take a look around for them.

One thing I agree with 100% there is that the Manager Mode was a bit of a let down. They really needed to step up with this and I feel that they didn't do that. That's my main gripe with Fifa right now as I could start to get a slight hint that I was possibly becoming a bit bored with it.

Sorry Shockin' but I think you are talking out of your arse.

Considering you didn't have the game at 10pm last night, you came on here at 11pm and called it the worst game ever.

Time traveller or bullshitter - which is it?

And now we move on to the resident smart-arse.

Right, when, last night, at 9:49PM I said I was going to get the game in a "bit" I was waiting for the guy to get back to his house. About 3 minutes after I posted he told me he was home, I was ready so I headed straight there. It's about a 5 minute journey each way, no traffic as it was 10PM so 10 minutes. Therefore leading me to about 10:02.

At about 10:05 I had put the game in and began playing, had a little look around and at about 10:10 I was in my first game.

Then, at supposedly 11PM (when I made my post according to you) or, according to Evo-Web, 11:38PM (That's twenty-two minutes to twelve in case you hadn't realised.) I was in my peak of frustration after playing a few games and realising I really didn't like it. So that's nearly an hour and a half of playing, as to which you can fit a few matches in and realise that the game doesn't suit how you like to play.

PES2008 took a lot of bashing from members immediately, and I backed it up as I got bored of FIFA08 very easily. I played that for about 10 months, knowing full well that an improvement would be round the corner, and that that was the best way to wait for it. I adapted to 2008, but I really feel that this one has gone too far.

Some of you may notice the fact that I can actually support both games from certain perspectives, although most of you can't, so instead of responding to your posts that I had about 10 minutes of playing it which are clearly just crap, I think I'll leave you to enjoy the game for yourselves.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)
