Wow, don't get that upset. You can easily do those transfers. The players are there. Won't take you more than 5 minutes, tops.

I know it sucks, but in the meantime, you will survive.

The reason I'm being so arsey is that you, and a few others, are in such a hurry to write the game off. As far as I'm aware, there is no prize for being first to slag it off.

I don't care whether you like it or not, but giving everyone the impression that you have given it a good chance when obviously you haven't is not helpful to anyone.

The editing features look brilliant. Im sure I will pick up PES 2009 once it drops in price.

I thought Konami always has out-dated Roster on the teams, that's why we have Option files?

I got it this morning from shopto

played about 8 games. deffo worked on a bit from the demo. players a bit more responsive, shooting seems better.

Anyone who says this is worse than PES2008 should be dismissed straight away.

it wipes the floor with PES2008.
It is basically a refined version the the games we loved on the PS2. and that will dome this year, but anmimations have to change for next year!

and thats the only reason long time players of PES should have to slag it off.

how can you adore PES in 2005 and then say this is the worst game ever?!?!? This is better then PES5 the only problem is it is too much like it for the time that has passed.

the biggest reason I like it is because players like Xavi and Pirlo are now important again and using players like that can unlock defences. something that was tragically taken out of 2008.

skin this gameplay with FIFA anmimations and you have the best footy game ever. and that also shows which is the bast game this year.

on PES the player slides in at the exact same angle every time, when does that happen IRL?

Your point was 'This is bad because it doesn't happen in real life' If i run at someone on a 90 degree angle and slide ill come at them from 90 degrees. if im side by side i'll slide in another type of way either hooking the ball or poking a toe out at it.

I don't understand how its the same angle every time?

Fifa exploits off the top of my head.

Spoilered to avoid a wall of text most wont want to read

Get in the centre of the pitch and jog towards to the goals - as soon as you step on the edge pof the box hold L1 and tap shoot - 99% of the time it chips into the goal and 1% it hits the bar, the keeper dives and you have an open goal to tap into

Similar to above but tap JUST shot as you step on the penalty spot. This either goes into the goals by the posts or the keepers dive for them and parry them leaving his goals wide open.
This also works on corners and crosses - stand on the pen spot and if the ball comes to you you get the same result as above.

Free kicks
Aim at the post the keepers stood on and the wall isnt covering - hold L1/LB and put some power into the shot - the keepers stand there and let the ball fly past them or they stumble to the side and the ball goes past them under their arm pits into the goals.

Free kicks on the outside edges of the box (near the corner flags) aim at the front post - L1 and shoot. The keeper will either dive to his side into his own goals parrying the ball in with him - or he'll stumble to his side and parry the ball in or a variation of the above 2 where he misses the ball and it goes right past him.

Ah now this takes me back, how on earth did we get to page 281 of this thread without someone mentioning roosters ? :D

Is there anything updated roosters can't do ? Mmmmm rooosters...

PS I really REALLY hope there are two threads when the game is released... one for "Things I like about PES2009" and one for "Things I don't like about PES2009".

Then I won't have to read people bitching on about a game I like.

Might also be an idea to add a FAQ covering what people can and can't do on each version (eg importing chants, updated squads, 360 dashboard, stop moaning about animations in the PES Likes thread, etc).

I can hear Lawro or Hansen saying something like "the keeper went missing in this game".

Perhaps a striker can burrow underground, in an attempt to beat the offside trap. You know, pop up out of the pitch at the right time.

Just been playing V panathinaikos in champs league at their ground

night game (obv) and the rain effects look fantastic, more realistic I have ever seen.

and also some of the pitches, including this one, look fantastic this year

Well I just played it on my brothers PS3 and although i dont think its the worse game ever or really as bad as others make out but I still dont think its up to the standards it should be.
But i mean its getting there, maybe in 2 to 3 years we will have a classic PES again my bet is 2010 will be the PS3's "Pro evo 3" (the first classic on the ps2)

I didnt like the animations really too robotic/stiff/gay/unsexy whatever delete as appropriate but no denying they are shite.

gameplay was good, not bad! graphics perfect (maybe stadiums are a bit bland no atmosphere) and the crowd chants...now come on you lot stop fucking about them chants could make your ears bleed id rather listen to a man piss onto a plastic carrier bag but still at least you can import MP3's

Well im more than happy with my PS2 PES 2008 patched im suprised others are not sticking to the ps2 version aswell until they get the game they want on next gen thats how im playing it.But each to their own of course but as for FIFA id rather wake up in the middle of the night finding my wife trying to snap my penis in half than play that

Well I got the PC version installed this morning, and I must say I'm quite surprised that I like it, thought the demo was ok, better than 2008 but not quite there, I had bought FIFA on release day and was enjoying that, but again a bit samey after awhile.

Now this morning I have played 4 games and I'm alot happier to go and get it for ps3 on friday.

Passing is nice, crossing from the wings is better, shooting improved, keepers a little bit improved, but it must be really hard finding the fine line between super keepers and s****y keepers, your defence seems to react better to the rebounds this time, good pace to the game, you can defo see the difference between good and bad players, so stats will come into it alot which I like being a stat editor.

Graphics are nice, i found on the ps3 demo as if the lighting had been toned up too much, will be interesting to see it that remians.

Maybe it was me not playing more than 30games on pes2008, but i like some of the animations, better than ps2 animations.

Overall this is much better than pes2008, is it the big next gen game we are all hoping for, probably not, but this is what we should have got last year, and now that it's here i'm going to enjoy it.

I'll try and recap the video for you;

Vid 1
You start off inputting your name - then picking a commentary name and then type in the name for the back of your shirt and adjust the spacing for the lettering. Pick your nationality and which foot you kick the ball with, your position then edit your appearance.. the typical create a player stuff.

you can use photo's to import yourself - theres a 4mb limit to the image you stretch the photo to line you with the template on the left and on the right is a real time 3D model showing you what you will look like. Then you adjust the skin colour to match your skin. Pretty easy to do especially if you have a sticker book of players for real footballers!


Vid 2
After making your player you pick a league to join. It looks like you can adjust the leagues and swap the teams around like in the ML games. Hopefully this asn't like Fantasistia mode where once you start this any changes you make to kits, badges and players aren't reflected here and only starting a new game will make them show up.

They advise you to NOT have 'auto move' on as the game will force you to run into areas you dont want to.

you play your first game for a youth team and after the game you get offers from clubs.

Vid 3

They say that after the game is over you can choose which club to pick as long as you didnt select 'auto' as the gamer will pick for you. you get teams offering you a wage. If you join a big club you'll be on the bench a lot so its best to join a smaller club and play regularly.

You have a list of goals to aim for like become a regular first team player or make it onto the subs bench. And you get the chance to play a training match between games - if you skip you miss out of exp points.

And that's it... doesn't really explain anything that can happen mid season or at the end of the year or if you can be sold by the club if someone wants to buy you etc.

In BAL mode i can´t play as a defender¿?...why?...why is not an option?...shame...i was hoping to be a legend with my Roberto Carlos clone....:P jaja if there is a way please someone find it..thx
