Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

One of my favourite things in PES2009 is the CPU getting a LOT more cards for making plenty more badly timed tackles than it used to. That's a definite improvement in the AI, not because it makes the CPU play better, but because it's more realistic that not all tackles cause you to fall over and lose the ball without the CPU being penalised.

I feel the same about the keepers not holding the ball all the time - they're not superhuman, but they react realistically by getting the ball away from danger.

most of these 'fifa fanboys' as you call them who dare to say something negative about PES2009 probably were actually 'pes fanboys' at one time before konami screwed up the game so badly that we once loved.
look at our join dates - why do you think we've all been members on this forum for many, many years?? there never even used to be any talk at all about FIFA here when EVOWEB first started other than an occasional mention of how pants it was.

I agree with the keepers parrying balls away from danger, but it looks weird when u look close its obvious that they're trying to catch the ball but it slips out of their gloves, they need to sort out animations properly. Sometimes they can't even catch the softest chips when we're one on one in front of them, and this problem was also in PES6 PS2.

And the keepers seem slow to collect corners when we want them to.

Hopefully the full version sort out those issues.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

man dont take me to seriously , I was just joking? haha :D:BLINK:

but I just think that this thread is starting to go out of control.... sure I have also my opinions/complains on pes 2009 , but Its much better if you tell konami about the problems rather then sitting here and nagging about it 10049394394939times!

But hey! Its not my forum , so write whatever you want

EDIT: Omg  My point was that you guys dont need to write exatcly the _same_ complains in each gotdamn page of this thread.

The more I play the demo the more I like

I had a spare hour and was gonna play fifa09 after a quick blast of this but ended up playing the demo over and over.

it deffo harks back to PES on the PS2, no question there, but it is a refined version.

some of the animations are shite. FACT. and in this depatment it is blown out of the water by FIFA09 (which I rate very highly this year)

If there was a sliding scale of simulation I would say FIFA09 is too conservative esp when dribbling and pr evo is abit too liberal.

but there is something about pr evo (except last years) that allows you to be inventive in your play that is not possible in FIFA.

I think anything is possible in PES. you can keep your finger on the sprint button and make it into an arcade game(esp last year -not so much this) or you can pass it about with a slow build up. the major reason why I still prefer PES over FIFA is how it allows you to pass in tight situations..

the passing in FIFA is fantastic but when your around the box it seems a bit slow to respond when you want to do a quick passing move to carve open a tight defence. in PES as soon as you see an opertunity you can take advantage of it, its almost like when your playing FIFA you are controlling the player and telling him what to do but with PES you ARE the player with the ball. so the quality of the move is as good as your own football brain.

also PES lets you beat a man when dribbling using body movement. I feel this is a major weak point for FIFA. if your KAKA you should be able to beat a man with sharp turns and faints without having to use the trick stick.
PES has a 'Jink' button in R2 - which has actualy been tonned down a bit this year. get a player like kaka on the ball you feel like you can take someone on, give it to Phil neville and his reactions are too slow so you pass the ball on.
This brings me on to individuality. FIFA still hasnt mastered this yet. as well as the dribbling thing I still feel no more confident on the ball with Xavi than I do with Bramble.

so because of all this PES is still my wepon of choice. I am playing FIFA09 at the moment and enjoying it. the anmimations, pace of the game and shooting (i use semi) is fantastic, But I can see ProEvo taking me through until next october.

cheers

What a very eloquently written post. I completely agree with your 'sliding scale of simulation' as well.

Swings and roundabouts on this place. I just commended one post. Yours deserves to have a tomato thrown at it.

We are all fifa fanboys u see. Even though Fifa 09 is my first Fifa and before PES2008 I had all the Winning elevens. Even so I am a fifa fanboy as I dare to question how good PES2009 is.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Might be worth pointing out which bits you disagree with and why - and also clarifying if you mean meristation's review or jflores' comments !

The review- no need to pick highlights as all of it is bollocks tbh!

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

accurate uefa conform kits, that's amazing

something i allways missed in football games, it just felt plain wrong playing with second sponsors and league patches in european competitions.

good job nokami!

This sums up my feelings exactly, I myself am playing FIFA 09 just now, there's something just not quite right, and pes looks to be back to it's roots a bit, although far way off the complete game that FIFA is, with editing and stats, I think this'll be the game thats got me till next year

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

So you think it's better we don't touch EDIT MODE??
It's better just waiting original Konami update?
I think downloadable content replaces the default player end not the edited one. So if you have edited a default player to something new he stays like that. Only if you change that player back into his default values he will change in the one from the downloadable content.
That's how I see it, although that is no guarantee ;)

you're kidding right?? if konami actually listened to any of the complaints about their game we wouldn't even be having this conversation. i have only posted my thoughts on the demo once here and most of the longtime EVOwebbers probably have also limited their grumblings - admittedly there are a few posters who don't let up with their critcism but there are a LOT of people here who are unhappy with the game and being that this is a forum to talk about it you have to expect to hear a lot of complaints here - that's just how it works.

FYI, i don't take anything here too seriously and if everyone did the same we might all get along in a happy peaceful world but that ain't gonna happen anytime soon

Yes I was kidding , Im tired as hell cuz Ive been working all day :P But you are 100% right , ofc we most discuss the game here.. But Ive just said that it might have gone out of control , that most of the people who write here is complaining about the same things , I mean it becomes like "deja-vu" when there is exactly the same things written on every single page :c

But anyway , forgive me .. from now on I´ll be quiet :SHHH::D Peace

@eNz dont you dare apologise or stop posting man. You have just as much right to voice your opinion as the wankers that come to this thread to bash PES day-in day-out noobs and "ex pes fanboys" alike.

It's the freaking monotony that gets up my crack....its the animations...sandbags...garden gloves....8 way movement.....untucked shirts....over and over again.

I mean fuckit...I get it..you dont like it move on and dont flame people that are optimistic about PES.

These kids that join this site to bash PES have always been around but they were banned or ridiculed to the point that they just did not bother anymore but nowadays they are backed up by mods and "ex fanboys"...bunch of bandwagon jumpers if you ask me.

IGN review

http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/918/918049p1.html

Closing Comments
For all its problems off the pitch, there’s no doubting that PES 2009 is the most fun football game on the market. There’s a nagging feeling that this is merely the game that the past iterations should have been, but there’s no denying that it plays as good a game as ever – which means for the neutral, the choice of which game to pledge their allegiance to is as hard as ever. Ultimately, FIFA wins out thanks to it offering the most comprehensive package, but those who choose to spend the next season in the company of PES won’t be disappointed.

6.0 Presentation
The bizarre J-Pop is thankfully absent, though the menus are as obtuse as ever and it pales next to the glorious production of FIFA.
7.0 Graphics
PES never feels like it’s truly embraced the HD generation and this is no exception – at least the frame-rate remains solid when playing offline.
6.0 Sound
Lawrenson and Champion phone in their commentary and the crowds are nondescript, but it’s saved by the meaty thud of leather on leather.
9.0 Gameplay
Restored to the glory days of PES’s gone by, it’s as gracious as ever and a constant delight to play.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
It’s a shame that online disappoints yet again, but Master League is present and correct plus Become a Legend definitely has legs.
8.5
Great OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

I don't understand how IGN gave it an 8.5 Do the math and it doesn't add up. I did the math and the rating after averaging it out = 7.2! Now, wtf? Either way, Im surprised they were very critical in many areas.

Guys, why is every bad review of PES bollocks? Maybe, just maybe, the game isn't that good. Can that be a possibility? Maybe it just does suck.

@ zeemeister

Finnaly someone whos agree with me =) , I couldnt agree more of what you saying , you are so right :)

For me pes its like my favorite team in football (djurgarden if) I will always have them in my heart , and I dont let them them if the struggle in the league , like they have this year. I´ll always support them whenever they win or lose. So if you guys are "pesfans" I think you shouldcontinue to play and love pes... I mean its not so easy to create a perfect football game that EVERYBODY likes... And konami does not have as many staff working on pes , that fifa has on their game.. And EA have a lot more money to I think? :P

"Once a pesfan boy , always a pesfan boy." =)

Sorry mod 4 going offtopic

cheers!

BwA it's not an average. They give it 8.5 probably because of gameplay being the important bit. Even if the presentation suck it could still be an awesome game.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

eNz. Don't get me wrong. If FIFA gives me the satisfaction I need and KONAMI doesn't it's goodbye Seabass but I wont come on here to convince you to share my opinion.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

@ zeemeister

Its everyone´s opinion whether they like fifa or pes , I like pes more than fifa buts thats only my opinion :b
