This one?

3DJuegos
Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 seems to be, again and lamentably, a lost opportunity. This could have been a great chance to vindicate the lost football throne, to demonstrate to the skeptics that they are cappable to make a great game, and to bring some light to a saga that is suffering, overwhelmed by new titles.

Score 69%

I would mate but to be honest only one person made a comment after I spent hours translating the first Spanish review (a week or so ago). So I won't. And don't bother with Google translations cause they're no accurate enough, at least they're not from Spanish to English. Anyway, they're saying the game is shit, and they're right.

i played pes 2009 demo for 4 games, and its a lot worser then 2008, i always enjoyd pro evo no matter how bad it was but this is game is sooo baad, the joy of dribling is gone its almost impossible to drible and that was the best thing about pro, and the reaction time of players is awful, it takes 3 sec before they can do something with the bal it looks like pro 5 where gatuso and heinze would do 10 sec before getting control on the bal.and the auto feintt:SHOCK: its disgusting the one whos idea its was should be killed!!!! sirieusly what a shame pro what a shame

p.s have played pro from pes 1 till now but i think i pass this year, and fifa is not good to.

IGN review

Closing Comments
For all its problems off the pitch, there’s no doubting that PES 2009 is the most fun football game on the market. There’s a nagging feeling that this is merely the game that the past iterations should have been, but there’s no denying that it plays as good a game as ever – which means for the neutral, the choice of which game to pledge their allegiance to is as hard as ever. Ultimately, FIFA wins out thanks to it offering the most comprehensive package, but those who choose to spend the next season in the company of PES won’t be disappointed.

6.0 Presentation
The bizarre J-Pop is thankfully absent, though the menus are as obtuse as ever and it pales next to the glorious production of FIFA.
7.0 Graphics
PES never feels like it’s truly embraced the HD generation and this is no exception – at least the frame-rate remains solid when playing offline.
6.0 Sound
Lawrenson and Champion phone in their commentary and the crowds are nondescript, but it’s saved by the meaty thud of leather on leather.
9.0 Gameplay
Restored to the glory days of PES’s gone by, it’s as gracious as ever and a constant delight to play.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
It’s a shame that online disappoints yet again, but Master League is present and correct plus Become a Legend definitely has legs.
8.5
Great OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Thats the same thing as piracy: copyright infrigment aka theft...

Call it what you want, but once the file is on the web the original creator can remove their version and that's pretty much the end of it as far as the legal threat goes, they always issue a cease and desist type order before anything else happens.

I take it you won't be using the editor to create realistic kits then, what with it being "theft" and all ?

Ouch! :(

Sounds a fair review though.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

game must be bad if ign gave it 8.5,that means its more like a 7.5

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Sounds a fair review though.

That's what I thought - no great shocks in there. Re-iterates everything we probably already knew.

I was encouraged by the good write up for Be a Legend though. I thought maybe they'd be a bit negative on that.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

My attitude to PES2009 is that it is better than the other efforts Konami have put out on 360 or PS3, so that's enough reason for me to get it.

Just, because the edit mode is JUST enough, and the gameplay is very good classic PES.

But there needs to be a major shift next year, there's so much still missing and so much unnecessary messing about due to bad design. It was acceptable on limited processor PSX, tolerable on PS2, but it's no longer an acceptable lack of progress after a couple of years on Next Gen.

Now they've sorted the gameplay they need to bring in all the supporting stuff (modes, tournament/season/career editor, convenient player edits, a helpful customisable database, etc) or they're just going to look anachronistic, and they're already close to that.

And try and develop a totally new game engine, new animations, 360 modelling movement etc that still plays very like existing PES too.

Not easy, but that's evolution for you.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I played the demo finally, on Xbox. Now it could be the controller, but i don't really feel as if i'm controlling the action much. The running is rather funny too. I'll be sticking to the PS2 version once again. I don't feel i'll be missing out on the half-finished Champions League mode. Gameplay is my first requirement, above graphics and so on and i'm sure the PS2 version will play better, to me. It's also half the price.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Right, played the full version just now.
Only played 2 CL exibition games, but here are my thoughts;

Gameplay: Better then the demo, not so mechanical, more control and more freedom it seems
Graphics: Bit more polished, no major overhaul but still improved IMO
Animations: Still poo poo, although tackles look amazing
Physics: Same as demo
Keepers: A lot better, no more stupid parrying
Commentary: Same as last year, couple of new lines, but still repetitive as fuck
Weather effects: What weather effects????

I like it though, I really really do...Dont know why it just feels very good

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I am going for the ps2 version too. Shame on you Konami. PES2009 in my ps2 and fifa09 in my xbox360 this year...

Don't forget the teams............ How can Fifa manage to have nearly every team in the world and pro evo can just about have the top tier of clubs from a few european leagues. its crazy.

Oh well, until pro comes out i'll continue to play fifa09.......despite having to play wit that annoying annalogue stick that my finger keeps slipping off of.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

IGN:
With the on-pitch action restored to its former glory, it's a shame that PES 2009 stumbles somewhat at the final hurdle. Last year's online component of PES was simply unplayable, with lag sometimes teleporting the ball the length of the pitch, reducing games to a test of the player's psychic ability. This year things have improved dramatically and now it's playable, though thanks to some persistent if not excessive lag problems it's still not a patch on playing against someone sat next to you. Throw in the added rigmarole of Konami's arcane ID system and you've got an online mode that's a bit laughable when pitted against FIFA's sturdy servers.

Graphics
PES never feels like it’s truly embraced the HD generation and this is no exception – at least the frame-rate remains solid when playing offline.

SO NO PES FOR ME THIS YEAR

LOL. Not even remotely near coming close to being true even at a stretch.

FIFA has more teams (including my team, which isn't in PES), but as I don't want to play the game EA is offering that really doesn't mean much to me.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Weather effects: What weather effects????

Can't you change the weather conditions in the Exhibition options screen before a game? Oh you mean long sliding and ball movement rather than the actual representation of rain falling on the screen? I was looking forward to seeing how that went after hearing early bits from someone that the ball moves differently in the rain

You're going on an IGN review after last year's travesty ??!?!

They didn't seem so bothered about the bit in bold when they were handing out their marks last year...

This is the most recent news. Two ref's from PESFan played on-line with the Xbox version:

TLT and I played a few games 1 v 1 and 2 v Comp and all was fine there.
Sounds different to me.

@FREmm:
Do you have the PC-version?
Whatever version you have, please can you try on-line for us, just to see how it works for you. Sofar it looks like the Xbox version works fine on-line.

Fifa can have lots more teams because they pay a lot of money for exclusive contracts etc (as they have done with the PL).

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

You're going on an IGN review after last year's travesty ??!?!

Well i think they overrated last years game, because they are very PRO PES. So when this PRO PES fuckers say: online sucks ('excesive lag' etc), i'll think they really played it online and experienced 'excesive lag'. :CONF::CONF:

Cheers m8, the refs are atrocious in the demo, did you notice any difference?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Refs are a bit better but dish out red cards quite quickly.
Bout the weather, I meant that you actually can hardly see the rain falling down.
@Han: I played the PS3 version, no online because impossible at the time, maybe I ll have a go during the weekend, but dont get ur hopes up

Last year they were an IN-GAME SPONSOR, which I suggest might have slightly skewed their impartiality. This year they're not, I'm not going to suggest they might go over the top the other way to try and get some credibility back, but it does means you shouldn't believe a word they say wihtout running it through the bullshit filter first, positive or otherwise.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Ridiculously negative thred- loving the PES2009 PS3 demo. Gameplay is outstanding.

Anyone know how to do the tricks? I believe it's with the d-pad but that just seems to over-write my movement with the analogue stick (also quite hard to use them at the same time).

thanks in advance (I'm probably being stupid)
