Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I don't know why we're still talking about the demo build. It's been confirmed by both Riot and Canigga on WENB that the demo is the same as the retail version as they have both played it. So what you see is what you will get (as always with PES demos).

The Leipzig demo was completely different from this one, it is easy to realise that. However, I am completely sure that the demo is the same as final version, which is good for me, I like the demo.

who cares dude.this year we have good pes game.

Exactly :)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I have a problem who isn't one I ve never seen a PES video at the end of the match why I haven't erased the video file.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

those complaining about the video before the matches in the demo..

i do like this:

i quit to 'top menu' when the game gets around 89min or Stoppage time (2nd half)

so i don't need to watch the video :D

heheh

I've perfected the art of hitting the Xbox button, then Y to go to dashboard, OKing, pushing right to the Games tab, choosing my saved Demo Games, selecting "last played PES2009" and reloading the whole thing which still only takes half the time of the video. But I like your idea too.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I am clueless to what some of you lot are talking about that Van Der Sar picture...Whats interesting was that flourecent nike ball and the 'gardening' gloves looked somewhat decent there.

I think the scoreboard video is what's being discussed. I honestly can't remember if that was in PES2008, that would have required me suffering those awful replays and playing the damn thing more than 10 times.

FWIW, I've been discussing the game as if the demo is the final version due to the Caniggia/Riot confirmation, though obviously usability and accuracy of the features (like kit templates) in the editing tool and chant imports etc will have a bit of an impact on my enjoyment of the final release and can't be judged from the demo alone - and I'm not going to say they "don't matter", even though the gameplay is what I need most from the game.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

One other thing, I've got a video of Robbie Keane also doing the no-look pass (and I'd be VERY surprised if Ronaldinho doesn't do it as well). I think it's automatic, I only pressed X.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

is this something new or was it in PES2008 as well?
just noticed it.

There all full of crap on that site.I wouldn't believe a word in what they say!

notice the screen behind van der sar. i was just wondering whether it was in PES2008 or just been implemented in this year's edition.
The nike ball btw is patched. Not the one that came with the default demo.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Hi,

i'd like to make some constructive posting.

In the beginning i was a bit irritated with the passing, having the impression that passes are very accurate but often go not to the player i was expecting.
After some games now i have a theory about that. I have the impression that in this new version the dirction you press is more important than how close the player is. In prvious versions the cpu preferred the player that was closer to you and now the pass goes to the player that is in the direction you press, even if theres another player in a similar dirction who is more close.

What you think about that?

And of course the shooting is quite different and i have to get used to.

Another thing i noticed is that corners are very hard to defend now, also because gk dont seem to come out for the ball even if he's very close to him.

And the CPU is playing ok, but can hardly score goals if you're good defending. The only times he scores is with high passes behind the defense or with corners.

BUt anyway, i like this version as defense/offense is muc more equal and you cant just runthrough with some players anymore (well, sometimes)

After one shitty year with PES2008 i'm quite content now.

Of course i would like to have more and smoother animations but i hope this will come with the next version.

see you online for some good football, Tom

Well, normally I would agree with you but Riot is a games journalist for one thing (I've enjoyed listening to what he has said on the WENB podcasts - he's very critical of Konami) and I believe him.

Perhaps this is why Adam has gone rather quiet of late after hyping the version of PES2009 he played.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Dear Juhu00 ,
What i criticise about PES and admire about FIFA is : Pressure when opponet has the ball. In PES you always make pressure in hi-tempo. But in Fifa they measured it like in real life. Raul can not tackle you with infinite ammo ! like he never does in real life. He just chases you for a while normally in real life and that is supposed to be. (FIFA solved this)
So Finally I'd prefer a Fifa game with PES ball physics. But It is not possible unfortunately.
Cheers

I think if you really want to adjust to real life tempo you also have to play 90min's matches and i'm not up to that. Some things need to be faster or happening a little less then during reallife matches, cuzz you still need to get the feeling of a real match in +/- 15 min's....

I dont think that is the reason of his non existant posts at WENB. I would be more inclined of why he is not posting a lot is because he already received his promo copy and is testing the game for a proper review.

And also don't forget he just got married

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Would you buy Coke over Pepsi based only on it's list of ingredients? If PES gives you a gooey feeling when you play it, is that not the perfect reason to buy it?

If people prefer FIFA fine, but it is now getting very boring reading about how great FIFA is when I'm in a PES thread, and I'm more than able to decide for myself whether FIFA is any good.

I don't get why people go on these crusades every October.

Ice Tea!!!

One thing I noticed was the awful player switching.

I was playing Liverpool and Riera had broken down the wing. Of course he wouldn't have broken down the wing had it not switched from Brown who I had selected to Ferdinand for some reason. This left Brown (controlled by the AI) running towards the half way line, and Ferdinand (unable to be selected by me) legging it across the pitch to the corner where Riera was running to.

Inevitably he crossed the ball once Ferdinand had gotten there, and Torres got the ball before Vidic, laid it onto Keane who was unmarked and Keane scored.

I was fuming.

put it on Semi-assisted

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

No its the Winning Eleven version of PES2008 I believe

The PS2 WEJL2008, its a superb game, have been playing it for the past few months. I have played the Demo and am not impressed with PS3 version of PES, if they took WEJL2008 and upgraded the graphics I would be more impressed as the whole thing just feels better and plays with more FUN!

i thought it might be the pes6 360 version which i think is actually the best 'next-gen' version out there and was unfairly criticized (can't spell this word anymore!!)

re wejl2008 - how much better is it than wecc2007? have heard the long passes are more manual and that is aftertouch - worth a buy?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I like the demo of the game. Eventually we have normal speed and no graphic problems on the ps3 version. Also, the ball physic have been improved in the good direction as well as player's .

Adam said he's not getting his copy until Monday. There will be a podcast tomorrow (already recorded), and one on Wednesday. I reckon he has to be taken back a bit by the mixed reception, whether he expected it or not, but I doubt he's hiding out somewhere.

The PS2 video that was posted only shows how badly this game has fallen from grace.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Have you SEEN a Premier League match recently ? I have to say I think you're talking nonsense, if the offensive players didn't have any strength they wouldn't be able to shield the ball, which they all do, regularly. And you can play any style you like, hoofball, short passing, a running game, wing play, through the middle, any way you like. Of course, how successful you are depends on the abilities of the players you're using and how well they match your tactics.

Some of this PES2009 bashing is just taking the piss now, the game is perfectly acceptable and very good, and using false examples to try and justify slating it is just pathetic.

I've seen plenty of Premier League games lately, although I don't care much for English football, but I fail to see the point you are making, because you haven't really made one. Go ahead and explain how this game is a great representation of Premier League football. I stand by my view of the game.

You've offered nothing in response besides a warning against "PES bashing", and your own opinion that the game is "perfectly acceptable". To me, it is not perfectly acceptable, and it is a huge drop-off from the previous PES games.

It's awful to see PES players turning into that weird FIFA crowd of the past decade.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Joe mate, take it from someone who knows better than anyone.

You are wasting your time.

I suggest you just accept the situation, that's what I've done. The way I look at it now, is to be grateful to the people that still think PES is a good game and are impressed by that awful demo. If it wasn't for those people, -everyone- would jump ship to FIFA and EA would no longer have any need to keep improving the game.

I'm actually loving the comments and array of excuses PES fans are coming out with, you should go and have a look on WENB/Pesfan. For example:

People need to get a grip and stop expecting so much from a company who have given us years of the finest in football gaming. There's not much more they can do. They can't make the perfect game because if they did, would anybody buy their next release?

Before I would get annoyed by this ignorance/stupidity but now I'm grateful for it. We have the best football game ever made to play, and a competitior that still has enough of a fanbase to drive further innovation for next years version!

I hope any ex-PES fans that are still troubled by the way things are going, can take some solace in that respect.

I just hope their 40 quids worth allows Konami to make me a good game of football for Oct 2009.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Very unlikely, unless they miraculously get the ability to develop next-gen games over night, or borrow some developers from the MGS team. I will keep an eye on PES next year, just in case they do make the jump to next-gen, although I won't be dissappointed or surprised when they inevitably do not.

The fact that alot of people join the fifa ranks is clearly shown on pes2009...otherwise KONAMI would make 1% of the changes they made on pes2008...and if they see the EA train smashing their marketshare I bet the whole MGS team will be employed to stop that...

That's a decent point, but I use Madden NFL 09 as an example of a game that at present has no direct competitor (EA bought the exclusive NFL license) yet still improves year on year on the next-gen consoles. If PES did disappear (which it wont) I'm sure EA would continue to improve Fifa in a similar way.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I've been playing it a bit more.

And start passing it around nicely, including some lovely lifted through balls.

But all the satisfaction of doing that is lost because you know it's not yourself doing it.

Shame.

That's my screenshot I took, you nicked it from my post in PESFan ;) Yes I believe it is new, I haven't noticed it before.

Kindest regards,
