anyone know?

guessing actually that it may be a next gen version? esp cos of camera angle

No its the Winning Eleven version of PES2008 I believe

The PS2 WEJL2008, its a superb game, have been playing it for the past few months. I have played the Demo and am not impressed with PS3 version of PES, if they took WEJL2008 and upgraded the graphics I would be more impressed as the whole thing just feels better and plays with more FUN!

i Dont like 2008 but i think 2009 is much better.anyway better than very schematic fifa09 for xbox360. pls Konami i wont lags online anymore !!!

You don't know what the word schematic means do you? If I were you I would look it up before you continue to use it. I'm guessing english isn't your first language so I'll refrain from calling you a plonker.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

You guys that are always moaning about PES 2009 and comparing it to FIFA.
Have you played with the vertical wide cam (equivalent to FIFA's be a pro cam). It's bloody awesome I love it to bits. And its soo smoooth while it moves around (compared to FIFA's probably running at 20fps). I would much rather have slightly less detailed textures and a smooth cam than the other way round. I am loving it and can't get off PES 2009 demo. Can't wait for the final release! Hooray.

P.S. I like both games because they offer something different. I prefer PES with the Vertical wide cam though (the normal wide cam makes the game look 2-bit!!)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

this shows how great the ps2 version is,
i have played pes2008 on ps2 for whole year, and i can tel you this is NOT pes2009/we 2008
and also not j.league we2008cc
so its something new, my guess is winning eleven 2009 for ps2 and it looks fantastic
look at the whisle sign(in extra time i think)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

After viewing that video it seems it is not a past PES/WE title. It doesnt seem to be Winning Eleven J.League Club Championship 2008 because firstly the scoreboard is different from PS2 versions. It actually uses the next gen scoreboard which was first incorporated in PES 6 on the Xbox 360. Also where the player position is written (e.g. CF) its written in a different font.

The nets are a different style too. In PES 2008/2009 the nets are bent in at the back while these are a more traditional square style. Also the physics of the nets are more realistic. Im intrigued to find out what version of PES/WE this is and also what console its on.

Looking at the video again and in far more detail I have noticed something quite important. The letters A,B,X,Y appear next to the player name plate. This is when you use on the fly custom tactics such as offside trap etc. So this means that it cant be a PS2 version of Winning Elven/PES. It can only be either a patched Xbox 1 version (but I doubt it due to the date of the video) or either a patched Xbox 360 version of PES 6/2008 or Winning Eleven 2009.

Ok after much investigating I found out that its just Winning Eleven 2007/Pro Evolution Soccer 6 on the Xbox 360.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Something about the demo that you realize after a few matches is that the developers have basically cheated in an attempt to create a more realistic game. Rather than improve defensive AI, tackling, the ability to out muscle attackers, the focus has been on removing features to force the player into playing a certain way.

Basically, attackers have very little body strength when it control of the ball so that running through defenders becomes much more difficult. Instead, they simply bounce off each other in an awkward fashion, going into canned, sliding animations. Perhaps the most obvious attempt to counter attacking play has been the removal of certain features, the skill moves being rendered next to useless, no longer on the right stick and those that are now on the d-pad are rendered ineffective by a combination of robotic 8 way directions, poor animations and poor collision engine.

The players have been slowed down dramatically, so fast players do not cover ground quickly, and ball control feels stiff. The players themselves feel completely stiff and unresponsive when dribbling. Again, this has nullified the ability to take people on with good players.

The game essentially forces players to pass the ball in an attempt to address the easy attacking of PES 2008. The result is a game that closer resembles pinball than football, where individuals don't stand out like they did in previous games. Users are forced to pass their way through a defense rather than choose how they attack the opposition.

Football is the beautiful game, where you have freedom to express, to play different styles of football. This game has removed that element completely, the very thing that makes football what it is.

Have you SEEN a Premier League match recently ? I have to say I think you're talking nonsense, if the offensive players didn't have any strength they wouldn't be able to shield the ball, which they all do, regularly. And you can play any style you like, hoofball, short passing, a running game, wing play, through the middle, any way you like. Of course, how successful you are depends on the abilities of the players you're using and how well they match your tactics.

Some of this PES2009 bashing is just taking the piss now, the game is perfectly acceptable and very good, and using false examples to try and justify slating it is just pathetic.

I wholeheartedly agree with you scott and that post you quoted was the biggest load of tripe I've ever read lol

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

those complaining about the video before the matches in the demo..

i do like this:

i quit to 'top menu' when the game gets around 89min or Stoppage time (2nd half)

so i don't need to watch the video :D

heheh

UAE back in the series! I remember they had a keeper who had crap stats but always played out his skin back in the ISS Pro Evo days.

I am 100% sure that this was in the PES2008 Demo!
Had this sometimes at goal-kicks...
Later in the full it was gone...

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Everyone seems to be condemning PES 2009 based on the demo.

I remember when the Leipzeig convention took place the demo on show that day was universally condemned. Is this the version we have been playing or a later one??

The reason I ask is that I have heard that people have played later versions of the game in which they have said it is much better and more 'polished'.

If this is true then it may be a case of 'wait and see' as opposed to dismissing it completely, already.

Is anyone able to clarify my argument or not?

Dunno if anyone's answered this yet, but as far as I can tell, the Demo is a later version than Leipzig, though it's difficult to tell much from gameplay from just videos without having actually played both.

I think the PES2009 demo is a different, much better, version and I believe this was confirmed by some people on WENB who've also now played the promo copy and said it's the same as the Demo. You'd have to ask the negative posters why they're saying the demo is crap because I love it and think it's one of the best versions of PES I've played. It's nowhere near perfect, but it is exactly what I expect from a PES game (good and bad), though it is very very good generally.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

lol. every year people make this post. every year they find out that the demo is representative of the final release. Why would Konami put out a demo which made their final release look worse than it actually is?

Dunno, why would they put out a poor demo at Leipzig then release a much better one when people were already saying they'd played a better version before Leipzig (can't argue that now, we've seen both, after all).

Also, why would they release such a bad game with PES2008 when numerous people reported having played a better version on promo copy ?

Mostly because Konami have some strange demo-releasing procedures, I would suspect.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

No.....every demo of PES released en masse to the public has been fully representative of the final release. Every year people say....it's just a demo, there's still time for it to be improved. Every year it turns out to be exactly the same. Anyone who thinks that the final release of PES 2009 is gonna be different from the demo is gonna be disappointed.

WTF am I the only person that played PES2008? Those were in my PS3 copy and I doubt that the copies here differ from the UK version

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I don't know why we're still talking about the demo build. It's been confirmed by both Riot and Canigga on WENB that the demo is the same as the retail version as they have both played it. So what you see is what you will get (as always with PES demos).

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I am clueless to what some of you lot are talking about that Van Der Sar picture...Whats interesting was that flourecent nike ball and the 'gardening' gloves looked somewhat decent there.
