I dont get the chants, I mean you might aswell not have them at all if your gonna have the rubbish Konami have put in. Seabass and his team have sampled live games and watch TV so how they came up with these chants I will never know..
I agree for a time with you ;) ... sounds like Konami putted some of their personnel together, made them drunk and after that they were ordered to do those chants

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

For years I played PES, I even used to pity people that played Fifa. As far as I was concerned there was myself and me mates who appreciated realistic footy who played Pes, and there people who didn't have a clue who played Fifa. Well thats all been spun around on its head this year.

I really think not only has Pes got to be completely re-built, but people within Konami have to go. Its got that bad, they should only be offering this as a xbox live arcade game for 500 points.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Good to know . I hope to see more your posts like ,, i love fifa, pls tell me that i have right ,,

real football is schematic like fifa ? huh i didnt know :/

wanna be provocateur ? tell it to admin first and ask him what he think about fifa ;]

Definition of schematic is as follows

A schematic is a diagram that represents the elements of a system using abstract, graphic symbols rather than realistic pictures. ...

So.......what the hell are you talking about???!!!

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Played the Fifa demo today and...

It is a good game.

But it does have a lot of undue praise going it's way simply because it isn't PES. Infact I even laughed at a few buggy moments because they are exactly like the ones you get in PES. For example, the ball could be right next to your striker yet he, and every other player, would be focused on a random bit of grass in the middle of the screen.

Also you cannot use the scripting as an argument against PES as Fifa is just as guilty of it. Similarly, the pace of both games is off. Both of them aren't fast enough, Fifa in particular feels overly sluggish. You can moan at that but real football, particularly the Premiership, is played at a rapid pace.

Fifa is a good alternative but it's just lacking that bit of passion to really grab people by the short and curlies.

Also I still cannot believe that some of you are genuinely shocked with the game. Infact I don't believe it, there are people here that are just baiting here for the sake of it. It's pretty obvious considering that people are comparing it to 2008 when in reality it is many magnitudes better, but if that's how you get your kicks then hey ho.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I don't have ball kick, and refeere whistle sound ; /

Anybody have the same problem or can help me?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

oh dear its one of thoes marmite moments. i played the demo of pro evo and at first i hated it. after a few times of playing and adjusting my style of play i got in to it.
i remember when i used to play the WE series on ps2 and how much of a differnce they were to their pes equiv. i can see they are using a similar approach and just making loads of changes that we aren't ready for, but will get used to.

me and my mate had a game on fifa and well put it this way we did not get in to it at all. we tried to give it a chance and the camera is not right and the games feeling was wrong. We then tried the pes demo and i was the one at the time that hated it and he loved it the way it was much more controllable. in fact when he played against the computer, his first try was 10x better then mine. i remember on pes08 he hated it and then got used to it.

just give it time and see how it plays out i remember after pes 6 came out and everyone hated it cos it was nothing like what pes 5 was, after a while people got used to it.

Pes = degree wrecker ;)
fifa = great degree :((

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

we tried to give it a chance and the camera is not right

You do realise that you can fully adjust the camera zoom, elevation and pan speed? If you don't think the camera is right then just change it to what you do like!!

PS3 PES2009 Demo Impressions

Played the PS3 demo for a couple of hours yesterday with a friend. I tried both 1p Vs CPU and 2p Vs CPU. Here are our impressions so far in comparison with Winning Eleven 2008 (NOT claiming every point below is important for my purchase decision):

+They fixed the framerate.
+A silly bug where even the GK makes a forward run after passing with triangle (leaving an open goal behind) seems to be gone.
+Not sure if this is just because the demo difficulty tops at 5 stars on old WE scale, or we are not using Australia against top teams like we usually do in 08, but we won more headers here (with Rooney and Tevez) than in 08 (with Viduka and Kewell).
+The back 4 seem less likely to move forward and leave a big gap behind, apart from when attacking corners.
+Harder to go past players.
+You are not prevented from heading out the ball during a direct shot from free kick. In 08, even if you move a player to the goal line to guard a direct free kick, the game simply doesn't let you jump to clear a shot that comes in your direction.
+Significantly harder to score now.

+/-Faces look like photos coloured with the game's palette, as in 08. Likeness with real face is good, but the only part on the face that can move is the mouth. However hard the players try to look elated after a goal, they can't really have a happy face.

-Feels like a slower response time.
-We probably had more fun laughing at the animations than playing the game. ;) The sprinting with ball animation is funnier than 08's. :D
-GK parry the ball just as much, if not more than in 08.
-They renamed the "semi-fixed" cursor option to "unassisted" or something like that. GK do random kicks up field in this mode.
-Too easy to get yellow/red cards.
-Ball sound effect too strong for our tastes.

Despite all the faults in 08, we still aren't sure we'd prefer 09 in terms of the offline game. It may be because we have got used to the idea that PES/WE is a fun, action oriented football game to enjoy with friends.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Here are my two cents.

Finally got the PES09 demo last night.I really liked it and it was a great improvement from PES08.It made PES08 looked cartoonish.

Positives+
Improved graphics.
Better lighting ingame.
Better player models.
No slowdowns or framerate issues.
Better ball physics.

Negatives-
Poor sound effects of the ball.
Some shots on goal seems floaty.(Maybe due to poor shooting attributes of some players)
Ref seems stricter.(Should be improved with addition of Refs in final version)

Thats it for me.Overall...I still will prefer PES09 over THAT OTHER GAME,all day, every day.

I have put up with PES08 for a year now and PES09 seems to be the cure for the heartache.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I played the demo with Liverpool, my team, was so looking forward to it, because this year is the first time ever LFC are officialy licensed, but it still doesn't save it, its simply not good enough. The chants are a real shocker, its unplayable because of them.

And why are they so bad, theres no excuse, how simple is it to sample decent crowd chants. For those of you who beleive they will fix stuff like this, well wake up, Konami are lazy arse wankers, who again for the 3rd year in a row have let the fans down. Surely even the most loyal fans must be angered by the crowd chants alone, it just summerises Konami's attitude. . they dont give a shit anymore!!!

I wont be buying until they re-write the whole game.

lol- unplayable because of the chants!!! Turn them off then! Mute your tv! :-pp

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

no m8, but its not like we give a $hit whether u did or not. Just a thought.
Now, if u bought the game and ended up burning seabass in effigy, that would be a story worth telling.

surely deleting the demo says it all really in my eyes...i don't need to come up with some witty answer to show i don't rate pro evo 2009

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I think this is one of the issues people have with it. "The good ol days" I mean...thats fine and dandy but people dont want to play an old game with a fresh coat of paint. We dont want to go back in time. The "evolution" is stagnant. People want a new experience, new good features, smooth as butter animations, frame rate and perhaps even a ball thump sound that sounds like a ball thump....I can go on and on. I personally think the old PES' were better than this. Much better. In the context of next gen and in comparison to the comp, it's piss poor, IMO. If there was no next gen, superior comp, then it'd be getting better reviews I think.

I think people remember old games to be brilliant, which they were at the time, but I bet if you were to play PES4 or something you'd be disappointed. I used to love Sensi Soccer and had a shot of it a just a coulple of years ago and it was awful.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Such an unjustly negative thread of posts!!!!

I've now spent a good few hours playing the PS3 demo and after being underwhelmed initially, you know what, I'm loving it! Back to the PES good old days with lovely high-def graphics!

Some of the points people are moaning about are just ridiculous. Like the sand-bags on the goals. I have been playing PES since the ISS days and I have never ever noticed them!! People complaining about miniscule details like that are just geeks.

Playing a 2v2 sesh tonight, which I think is going to be excellent as it seems far harder to score in this version. Football should be about games with 2 or 3 goals or even nil-nil draws. PES2008 promoted ice-hockey like scores. Goals will be far more cherished now I reckon.

What I've always loved about PES games (apart from 2008) is that you can be playing them solidly for months, think you've seen every type of goal etc and then you suddenly see something totally new- like an absolute thunderbolt of a volley from a tight angle or something. I reckon this version will be like that- not spectacular very often but v occassional moments of pure genius. That's what PES is all about!

If the on-line works well (fingers crossed), this is an absolutely superb game!!

Just to reiterate my points above and also say that I had a great PES09 demo sesh last night with a bunch of mates and a slab of beer. After a couple of games, we were all saying how much better than 08 it was and how much we were enjoying it!

Only annoying think was watching the video between games!

Quit your moaning everyone, give the game a chance!!! You need to play at least 10 demo games to be able to seriously comment on the gameplay. :brick:

This is a PES 2009 thread, people can be as critical or as positive as they like.

no need to shove it down our throats m8(you've made yer feelings known quite a lot in this thread).
and whats wrong with a little wit in this thread? its getting boring with people trying prove themselves right all the time. :D

tbh, i don't rate both games(pes and fifa), i just play them and see which one i get joy out of most.

i understand people's frustration tho(in regards to its similarities with PES08), but haven't we've seen this coming for a few months now?
Surely we all knew it was going to be more or less PES2008 with fixes and tweaks.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Here my opinion about the PES 2009 demo:
I posted it elsewhere too, so for some people it isn't new...

The first thing I noticed was the agility of the players: I expected them to be lesser than PES 2008, but that was not changed. The second thing I noticed was that you are not able to use that agility to outplay the defense. The defense is much, much better positioned and therefore cut-back goals are very difficult. It seems that Konami has found a clever balance between attack and defense. If you like to dribble you might get some nice dribbles, but if you like to counter-attack, then the defense is well organized and you are able to pick the ball away from people who like to dribble too much.

Passing is really interesting! At first I thought there was something wrong with my controller settings, seeing a lot of passes went wrong for no reason. Later I discovered that passing while turning your player lead to lesser control of the passing and missing your target. Also wrong is already pressing the passing-button when you have not controlled the ball properly. Than you miss the destination-player as well.
So what you have to do is controlling the ball first and pressing the pass-button on the right time. This of course takes a fraction of a second and that gives the defender the time to close-in on the attacker. This makes it possible to be on time for a defender, leading into a real battle.
You have to learn how to control and turn into space with the ball, which is exactly like real football.

Another great improvement is passing through the right analog stick. That is really a joy, as this is much more sensitive than in previous versions. You also don't need to press the right stick anymore to pass the ball. Just keep the stick in the desired direction and hold it. After you release the stick, the pass will be executed. Still, however, it demands a very good control of your hands to coordinate things with left and right stick well. Practicing is key!

Some people say the game is too arcadey, which is understandable if you listen the strange hollow sound after hitting the ball. That sounds arcadey! Talking about sound: I think Konami included very bad chants to invite you to put in your own. I mean, these chants aren't professional, are they?!
Together with that, the agile moving is arcadey, but that is compensated by the great defensive AI.
That AI also is very much based on the attributes of the players, which makes the game great. Do you have a low technical attribute? You will have a bad time in crowded area's as you will see the ball bounce away if you do not handle it carefully, so your margin for error is much smaller with players with a low attribute for technique. Of course this is also the case for all other attributes.

That certainly is also the case for shooting. It is more difficult because the AI takes into account if you shoot with your preferred foot or not. I missed some chances when coming from the left with a player who is right-footed. He more or less tried to shoot with the wrong foot, but it was a weak lobbed shot. Of course you can manoevre your player in such a way that he shoots with his right foot or you should time to perfection. Bad timing with your wrong foot leads to big misses!

Overall my conclusion is that this game has that special PES thing again, that you learn to love it the more you play it. I missed that on the 2008 version, but it's back and I love it :)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Right techy question here folks from an IT illiterate (logging on to this forum is a struggle for me!).

I am 74% through downloading the demo for the PS3 on my fifth attempt (first four ''an error occurred''). It has taken 29 hours to get that far!!!!

I have a decent broadband connection and regular webpages don't take too long to load so what's the problem?

Are there some settings on my PS3 that need changing, could it be because I'm doing it through wireless (I don't have a cable to connect my PS3 direct so this is my only option)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated and remember I'm an idiot so Layman's terms where possible please.
