Bashing and boners.. this thread has taken a turn for the worse

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

As usual it's everything from fantastic to a dog turd, I'll be renting 2009 for a week and giving it a good bashing...

Of course.

You know... I can say everything's good or bad in the game, but the final decision need to be made by YOU because YOU will like or dislike the game. :)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

You can post all the screenshots you want showcasing PES's "amazing" faces, that won't change the fact that it plays like crap & it will not, in any way, compete with Fifa 09.

That's because it is. Honestly, I prefer PES 08 or Fifa 09 on PC to this! lol.

Now the problem for people like you, that have been railing on PES for months now, is that you are expected to say this. You were never going to have positive words for the game because you've spent so long shitting on the game that you've somehow translated your preconceptions into actual beliefs.

I mean come on, when you're struggling for credibility you are not exactly helping yourself when you say that PES 2008, PES 2008, is better than 2009.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

What graphics card have you got? You can force anti aliasing and anisotropic on Nvidia cards using the control panel

ati 4850. in ati control panel i can put 'always on' but it has no effect in game.

The vsync problem is worse. If it is off, there are a lot of sync lines; if it is off, the game is in fast forward.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Dude, you have to play it. You can feel is good or bad, but it is not PES2008. Just the long passes are really slower compared to those in PES2008. I like the game but I cannot make a judgement with 2 games on a laptop with a shitty video card ¬¬

Yeah im finishing my download... I really hope im wrong, cause i use to love this game... :(

Have you spoken to any other ATi users about this? Do you have that frame skipping ticked? Does that effect anything?

Is there a way to turn the chants off? They really are atrocious.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

That's what Ronaldo looks like to me.

:DD:DD good one!

btw, ive played more than 20 matches already, and i havent seen that bug...

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I think it won't be noticeable when playing at normal speed with a normal camera angle.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Hey guys, been testing out the demo. IMO improved greatly on PES 2009. The gameplay is slower and more measured. The AI is improved vastly no more stupid gaps or running away from the ball from what I can see. The new control system is taking some getting used to though - e.g. unassisted.

The graphics are also outstanding and some of the players are very lifelike e.g. Torres, Ronaldo.

Anyways, here's some screenies I took from the various menus/players in the demo. Settings all on High, Resolution: 1280x1024. Graphics card used Asus Geforce EN8800GT.

An example:

p.s. I don't really have an obsession with Ronaldo, I just think he looks incredible in the game.

No amount of graphical enhancement can make Liverpool's away kit any less shit...

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

There seems to be a problem with the demo running at different speeds. I played the game and it felt really slow, I mean REALLY slow. So I deactivated Frame-Skipping and the pace of the game was excellent. So if you feel like the game is way too slow try it out, I was really worried that this was the actual speed of the game (slow as hell).

I play with ATI 4870.
In addtion to vsync you have to enable frame skiping to get normal speed.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Ok i played just a couple of matches(maybe 10 :P) just some thoughts:

Gameplay
+the gameplay its a lot better than 2008, its now more a passing game than dribbling to the goal
+dribbling looks easier, but if you have the ball now you are quite slow so you need to pass it
+trough pass seems a lot more effective
+Long passes are better, it looks like you can actually get some nice long passes instead of just giving the ball to the other team.
+The ball looks a lot heavier and i love that, maybe it looks like playing with an old ball, i mean not the new super light tech nike but its nice.
-Player as in previous PES don't run in spaces, you still need to use the triangle(not the button) a lot to get them moving (kudos to EA here, i love how in fifa players run to get in better position)
-Scoring looks a bit too easy to me

Graphic
+graphic is good, more or less its the same of 2008 but the blur helps really a lot. (played in 1920x1200 max settings)
+Some nice new animations
-90° auti shot feint its just plain stupid, every time you turn of 90° the player fake a shot. You can imagine a defender after a goal kick alone in his area faking shots..
-Runnings animations are a disgrace but a little better than 2008
-+?Lighting looks really like last year and its not even near the quality of some pictures we saw, maybe its the demo.

Sound
-the ball:thud, thud, thud; the fans:Champions, Champions, Champions..

In the end this year i really don't know what to play, PES is actually a proper game, not the mess of last year, but its more or less always the same.
I'd buy the other game if only there was a trainig mode (i love training formations and movements in pes :))

I forgot to say AS Roma vs Bordeaux... ok i don't spoil

High Settings , 16:9, 1280x720

Quad Core 6600, GeForce 8800 GTS 512, 4 GB RAM.

According to google you can put frame-skipping off if you have a good pc.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Hi all.

Well, I've been trying out the game, and I'm really liking it.

Playing the game in the wide camera, controlling all the players feels nice, an improvement from 2008 definitely. I love the dribbling control, the way that timing the button presses now triggers small different animations. It feels pretty good.

The right-stick passing without clicking the stick takes a bit to get used to, but it's more or less the same as previous years, maybe a bit better.

The player runs are great, there's a lot of diversity.

Now, what I played a lot of was controlling a single player, choosing the vertical wide camera focused on the player. It takes a bit of time to get used to, but it is really fantastic.

About all the comments... Seriously, if you were already negative towards PES, it really isn't going to convert you if you don't give it a chance nor want to. That's fine by me, go enjoy the game that you like.

For me: PES2009 it is. And I do believe I am not the only one.

For those who a couple of pages ago mocked PES's AI in Become a Legend mode, saying that FIFA's Be a Pro was better... Go ahead, hope it works miracles for you guys. For me, PES's AI for Become a Legend is pretty good, go ahead and try the demo.

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

P.S.: Oh, and do yourselves a favour: play it with a nice pad. I'm playing it with the PS3 pad, on my laptop, connected to my LCD. Brilliant!

I agree the game is good, but i didn't see any player runs, am i missing something? do i need to press something to make players run into spaces?
