Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

it was for the ps2 version the nextgen version got 12/20

Actually, the table shows that the PES2008 Wii version got 12, the 360/PS3 version got 14 and the PS2 version got 17/20.

I haven't played the Wii version but I'd say that was about right for the others.

Besides, they go into so much detail about different aspects of the game(s) you have to respect their ability to form a valuable opinion even if you don't neceessarily agree with it.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

what i mean is can we edit all the unlicensed teams kits etc or only 8 like last pro cause with the liga not licensed there is more teams now

Ah, understood.

I seem to recall reading that there's a limit of 40 files that can be imported (PS3, not sure any will be possible on 360 yet and I assume unlimited on PC, not that it matters). But as you can put manufacturer logo, team logo and sponsor on one imported file you can edit 40 teams like that, plus you can do club badges/emblems in the in game editor.

Which is more than there are unlicensed teams in the game (though that's depending on whether there's an "Other C" division of blank slots, as there may not be enough for that too).

Don't forget also that currently West Brom and West Ham are unsponsored in the Premier League, so that's two sponsor slots saved...

I think the 17/20 for 2008 says all you need to know frankly...

Thanks for the info, i don't know very well this mag...
But some point like "shooting" "dribbling", "stats" and "tactics" are very, very discutables... I prefer to shoot on PES, the tactic way too etc.

For "multiplayer" test, they don't talk about Online way... Just beetwen friends that's all

This is just a mag report to know how the general VG press hosts both games (thanks to RZA from Wearepes i forget :TU:)

EDIT/ Tests was maked on old PREVIEW versions...

Speak for yourself, I happen to think the ability to create players who actually look and dress like the real thing is a major part of the realism.

FIFA has mo-capped chimps and generic clowns with terribly proportioned logos and adverts and rubbish numbers and names on their "official" kits and the ability to perform the physically impossible, which reduces ITS "realism", whilst PES has a bunch of players who never ever wear their shirts tucked in being forced to play with their shirt tucked in... until a defender pulls on it for them and then it's "allowed". It's just a stupid, pointless and annoying omission.

I'll put up with it if the gameplay is right, but that doesn't mean it's not a problem that should be addressed.

I was speaking for myself. (I usually do...)

I'm still looking forward to thid despite conceeding to FIFA's superior effort.

Everything is so much more improved on last year, I just know the gameplay will be back to its good old self.

Personaly I am pleased we have 2 decent footy games for 09:TU:

Yes I did a translation yesterday.

Ok there is an interview with Finnish beta testers and with seabass. This video was made by a well known portuguese sports newspaper called "A bola" (the ball in english) and it´s my favourite newspaper. Is also the newspaper wich sell more here in Portugal.

http://www.miragens.abola.pt/videosdetalhe.aspx?id=2494

I will translate the video:

At first the 2 finnish guys say that PES 2008 was dissapointing and that PES 2009 is like the old PES. Near previous PES (except PES 6 wich they also mention as bad). The 2nd finnish just talks about the champions league mode and about the fact that defenders are smarter and that it´s easier to defend.

In the interview with Seabass they ask "Why are short passes harder to perform in PES 2009? They´re not so accurate as in PES 2008."

Seabass says that "well the passes are not inaccurate at all. Actually they´re more accurate if you do them at the right time. If you loose that timing they will be inaccurate and I think that´s real. If your player is under pressure, if his direction is not towards a teammate or if you press constantly the X button, you can´t expect the pass to be accurate. I think this is realistic. We want the game to be as realistic as possible, but we also don´t want to affect gameplay. You must feel good playing the game."

realistic gameplay + fun as possible, it´s their goal.

After this the portuguese interviewer asks about online mode.

Seabass answer: "we know PES 2008 had much criticism about online mode, so in PES 2009 we renewed it to assure a good online experience. Everything is fine now. No one will be dissapointed this year, but I still not happy because I want more than 2vs2. That´s our next goal, we are already working on it.

After that another question: "now that you have champions league mode in the game you think PES is definetly for European gamers?"

Seabass: " no we want it to be for everyone around the world."

He also said "in the last 3 years we paid attention to our fans feedback only, to improve the game. But after pes 2008 release we start to putting our own ideas in the game and we want to surprise our fans with new things. Of course we still paying attention to fans feedback but not only that. We need more."

Then he talked about EA... saying "we have better AI and gameplay this year but EA stills leading in many other ways like the graphic engine and licenses; as we don´t have many licenses we have to provide a good gameplay, and this year we are better again."

last question:" tell me, you already have news about pes 2010? :D"

seabass:" of course I can´t tell you anything about pes 2010 but I´m excited because new consoles give you more possibilities and we can have a great AI in the game. The players behaviour will be really near the real life ones... pes fans will be suprised, and I´m excited with it"

That´s it. As you can see the game is harder, you must think before making a pass, I love the "timing" thing and the fact defence is more balanced :) Waiting for the demo

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Demo out on Thursday? I'm curious to try it and see if it isn't as bad as the videos Ive seen.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

pc version and ps3 or xbox version are the same? I am asking because last 3 videos are good but for ps3, and the cl video is for pc and lokks shit. And for pc pes2009 is the last change for a decent football game this year...

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

There's no point having accurate faces in PES if the bodies they are on run around like twats and don't act like footballers... If all you can do to bash FIFA is to criticise the faces then it must be good :).

I could make an animated gif of a dodgy animation or some stupid AI in PES (which is very much more important than player faces), post it and and go "WTFFFFF is that", but there would be too many examples of that to choose from...
