the rain this year is WAY better..
in pes 2008 i couldn't even notice the rain, during gameplay.. only in throw-ins, free-kicks, corners and goal-kicks..

and was that horrible rain

Fuckin pathetic hypocrites!!
Faces are just another facet of the game from a graphics and realism standpoint. People have mocked PES about untucked shirts, sandbags, socks and garden gloves. Yet when images showing PES superiority concerning player faces is highlighted granted PES faces are not all 100% but we are talking about Ferdinand, Deco and other famous players. Yet this is deemed not important as you don't really see it. Had it been the other way around I'ld imagine petitions drawn up to rid konami of that Sea urchin.

I too agree that it's not that a big a deal, but some folks need to be consistent about their judgement.

Let´s see... slower pace, new keeper animations, new passing and shooting animations, new full manual control, wich allows you to move the off the ball player (that must be awesome), building up/passing a lot to create chances, bigger field, champions league atmosphere, better faces, better stats, better rain...


Now PES 2009 has many improvements :)

That manual player switching was in previous PES games, and it can't really be called "fully manual control"... That would give you control over the exact power/placement of passes and shots, it doesn't.

Dude... more than half of those are more considered as tweaks, PES always had that (faces, stats? hehe, better rain, some new animations). Don't get me wrong, it's good that Konami bothers to update anything at all.

But what is this new manual control you're talking about? It sounds like you mean the "semi fixed" settings in the old PES that now is the default. If so, that is also not really a new improvement.

True to a egiene Konami does not improve the game still think the Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 will come a little better in relation to 2008.

You have manual passing in PES, a longe time ago. And this year they changed the controls so it´s easier to perform them. As for shots I have a full control over them, using R2. I I aim the top corner and the player has good shooting stats+curling (raul, deco) the ball goes exactly where I want it to be. But for sure it doesn´t work all the time, otherwise it would be unrealistic. And yes I know fifa has full manual control over the passes but even FIFA world champ doesn´t use it, Only Semi in shooting and sem in crosses. You can play full manual passing in FIFA but it doesn´t give you any advantage. I played fifa and euro 2008 and I could score goals and build up with auto pass. And it would be much better if you can choose during the game if you want a normal pass or a full manual one like in PES (different buttons). In FIFA if you turn passes to full manual you have to do all your short passes during the game with the manual mode, and they´re useless when you pass around the defence. Anyone can make a simple 3/4 metres short pass, don´t you agree? Manual makes sense when you´re attacking and you need that pass that put your stiker in good position and that´s how PES works with manual passing. you just need them to make a risky pass, and no one does risky passing in the defence :) That´s my opinion

PES never had manual passing. They called it manual but it was 8 directions and the only manual about it was the speed of the pass.

As for you thinking true manual controls brings nothing good because it is easier with auto, I say nothing...

Not only speed mate. I use them and they´re good to put the ball into space. My english is not that good but I will try to explain. Imagine you are in the middle line on the right with sneijder. And up front is Ruud van nistelroy with 2 defenders around, but in the center. You can perfom a manual pass so sneijder put the ball front, but in the empty space (up front but not in the center, in the right wing). Then Ruud Van Nistelroy runs to the right (where the ball was placed) to get the ball. With auto passing you would pass the ball to the center, and probably the defenders would steal it from your player. But with the ball played in space it created a Ruud van nistelroy diagonal/movement wich allows you to ilude de opposite defence :) that´s manual passing. About the 8 directions, that thing has been discussed a long time ago. PES only has 8 directions because Seabass love the PS3 d-pad and I think he is right. Even FIFA 09 now allows you to play with D-pad, and no more 360 degrees... the question is. When you play with d-pad in fifa do you miss the 360 degrees. Personally I don´t. So who cares about 360 degrees.. As I use to say. Games are personal :) Each one has his approach to the games and like to play it in different ways then other ppl. PES offers me what I want.

Yeah I get you with the manual passes but I found them useless because I always wanted to pass manual in more than 8 directions, often you just want a little bit to the side and so on.

Well of course I would miss 360 degrees, I play with manual controls. But people that play assisted can as well play with d-pad if they prefer it because it makes no difference really.

I respect that you like 360 degrees:) It´s personal. It doesn´t affect my playing style so I´m happy with 8 directions.

True but it would be nice with the option to have more than 8. That way everybody wins.
