Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

It isnt even gone gold yet.......

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

We should be able to choose manual passing and use the pass buttons same as Fifa, having to move the right hand off the buttons onto the analogue stick is really stupid IMO.

Exactly. Manual passing should be a combination of the analog stick (360 degree control) and the X/A button like FIFA and Football Kingdom. The use of the right stick/clicking down/camera nonsense is very silly. Also I have tested the manual passing before and while you can change the setting so you dont have to click down, im pretty sure its only 8 way directions which limits the use of it somewhat.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

But there is nothing like the site that was opened just a few week before the release of PES2008? Nothing official, i mean..?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

no news today.......no news this week until friday??

fuck.......

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Maybe they received some bad feedback about the game, by reviewers and they´re improving it a little bit. I don´t care, I can wait until christmas. I just want a decent PES. Not 2008 bs.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I don't think so. When they announce the release-date of the game, like Konami has done then they have an agreement with Microsoft ( Xbox version ) and then they are not permitted to delay it anymore. Think about last year, when Microsoft forced Konami to release the game on the date both already agreed.
So I think they cannot change the release date anymore.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Hi all.

I was listening to WENB's podcast a while ago, and I now know where airjoca got his "FIFA's faces are 3D" statement ;)

I posted a reply to Suff, just in case you want to read it:

To Suff:

Hi there. I just listened to the podcast, and even though I enjoyed it, there is one thing you said which I must strongly object to, I'm sorry :)

The fact that you guys are such a well-respected source with a huge audience makes it a terrible, terrible mistake when you povide such mis-information. I wouldn't be so pissed off at it if I hadn't had an argument a couple of days ago when someone in a forum told me that the difference between PES's and FIFA's faces is because FIFA's faces were in 3D... When I heard such a statement, it genuinely pissed me off... Now it actually makes it more clear where he got that argument from :P

Please take my points not as a direct attack, but as a constructive criticism to clear the ideas that you might have gotten into some people's minds.

For starters, how can you even begin to say that FIFA's faces are 3D models, and PES's aren't? From the beginning of the days that PES's faces have been 3D models. When you go to the Edit mode, before PES2008, all you could do was exactly that: mdel a face in 3D! You'd stretch the chin, you'd change the face width, you'd change the nose size and shape, move it up or down in the face... That is what a 3D model is, mate! :) In PES2008 it's just the same thing, with the added bonus that now you - a user - can put your face in the game by using a picture, instead of having to edit manually which can be a pain. The texture mapping that PES uses is more of a technical achievement that results of an improvement over the 3D model, than a technical flaw that the tone you gave to it in podcast implied ;) It adds realism, it is not an old-style camouflage that they are using to disguise something they're lacking.

I'll say even more: there have been textures for faces for PES players since at least PES5 - and furthermore, not all players have textures for faces.

Back to a point you made, which left me completely baffled was when you said something similar to "sure, PES now has good faces, but Konami is behind FIFA because FIFA have been modelling faces for quite a while, and when they get to the point where the faces are nice, they'll have a huge face library whereas Konami will have to start from scratch".

This point is completely reversing the roles here mate.

I'll say the opposite: FIFA's faces are actually pretty decent in what concerns 3D models, but by the time they begin texturing those faces, Konami will already have a huge face library and FIFA will have a hard time getting to where Konami is at right now.

Textures have existed in 3D modelling to serve a purpose: to model details in a scalable way. They are not a flaw, they are an enhancement.

You should have some fair play, and accept that PES's faces are technologically more advanced than FIFA's ones - and that's nothing to be ashamed of, nor is it a reason to try and spin things the other way around.

Now, influencing the minds of young people and try to convince them that FIFA's faces are 3D models and PES's faces are just something with a texture is an utter lie.

For your information, there have been PES editing tools - even for PES2008 - that allowyou to edit the 3D models of PES's faces. Here's one from Veron:

http://www.gamingaccess.com/forums/attachment-readmore.php?attachmentid=1862

You can find more here:

http://pes2008editing.blogspot.com/2007/10/good-news-for-face-modell-editing.html

No hard feelings mate, honest. Furthermore, if you could mention this on the podcast so that there are no wrong ideas floating around in people's minds, it'd be greatly appreciated, both for the users and also for the credibility that you have gotten us all used to :)

This is not a discussion over whether or not PES's faces look better or worse than FIFA's ones. It's about setting the record straight from a technical standpoint.

Best regards, and keep up the great work.

Paulo Tavares

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

I know the PS3 can be patched but can you do stuff like nets and stadiums???

Answer on a post card if you will??

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

The PS3 can be patched? That's a first for me :|

If it can be patched, then I'd assume the answer to your question would be yes.

Nonetheless, it appears that the stadium models have changed this year, according to Seabass's interview. We'll have to see if the same tools can be used.

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I can't see them delaying it, unless some major flaw has turned up or unless they delay by a couple of months, there would be little they could do or change otherwise, If I were SB I'd be very worried knowing you are essentially putting out a cleaned up version of your poorest effort. They better have got it playing ultra smooth at least...

Haha

I sure hope not, I do get along with them :) They are just trying to do their best for the community and for themselves as well ;)

I'm not feeling comfortable with all this delay talk. Still, Konami did announce a date, and they usually keep their dates after announcing them.

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

I agree with you about not delaying it and also about the need of ultra smooth gameplay.
I think the delay rumour is not true, also because of the reason you gave.
The point is: What is ultra smooth in your eyes? For me it means the gameplay must at least be like PES 5, plus a bit tweaked. That must be possible.

It has to have no slow down or jerky play back at all, I think this is the minimum requirement. There is virtually nothing new from 2008 bar a few animation additions and minor tweaks so they have to get this right. i fear the game play will be all but the same as 2008...

But that is not a bad thing, don't you think? The gameplay from 2008 was not in balance, defending/attacking-wise. PES 5 was far more in balance.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

if PES gloves were like this patched by default, there wouldn't be any problem, but they're just f****** BLANK!

if the videos are anything thing to go by i totally agree with you,its pes2008.5(they could have just released a patch to fix the game in the 1st place) ive bought every pes and iss game since the snes but this year im not going to bother, the series is stale and no amount of cosmetic touch ups will change the current engine konami are using

I'll be honest my PS3 version was unplayable I held out for a few weeks hoping a patch would solve the problem but I never got better than a jerky mess on screen, so I can't really comment on the game play balance or AI. Pes 5 and even more so the WE titles were a better game from other PES fans comments and I must admit, having now played 08 and adjusted to it, 2008 is far too fast, I know they have addressed this for 2009, how much though I'll wait to see.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Guys I thought I share this with you guys,

If you are looking for an online competition web site then go to:

www.pesunleashed.com

it has just started. also if you have not yet pre-ordered the game, then go to either argos for £34.99 or Hut (with discount code) as they are doing good deals on them.

Hope this might make things a bit more exciting for the build up of pes 2009!

The other question I wanted to ask, has all teams now got real names or konami never managed to get the licenses??

always true fan of pes! never will buy a fifa footy game lol

!peslover!

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

About PSN updates for September 25th, what's rumored so far is

Wipeout HD
Burnout Paradise (full game download)
Megaman 9

I don't know if this is US, EU, or both...

Nonetheless, could PES2009 fit in the middle of these blockbusters?

We'll know in a couple of days, I guess.

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

I did a quick search but couldn't find them. There are pics from FIFA08 where you see player heads in wireframe mode. And they are complex 3d. That's where my statement came from. ;)

PS3 version cannot be patched, just edited via Option File.

PS3 is not hacked yet...

Nick did you play on a standard tv or lcd? I Ask because I had that aneurysm inducing stuttering / jerkiness when I had a SDTV with the AV cables. But once I got my HDTV with an HDMI cable it ran as smooth as honey minus the slowdown as I haven't downloaded the patch. Wierd thing is I prefer the pace of the SDTV game

Beautiful man!! Please send this to Seabass to show him the beauty that can be achieved with the right tools i.e. a comprehensive edit mode.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

there is some move it PES2008 get me mad and its not fair at all,, when you play with any human mate and he do the fake shoot move ( [] + X or O ) my CBs or any player near him will fall or do a foul automaticly its so bad coz you cant controle that so will it be in PES2009 also or konami fix that bug ?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

i think they reckon it's a fake and every defender is dumb enough to fall for it, perhaps the better defenders should keep their feet and take it off the forward when he fakes.

We'll have to wait for the demo to find out. I had the same problem at times. But I never really played 2008 more than 2-3 weeks.

P.S. Hope you learned your lesson and behave from now on ;))
