Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Strange that there isn't a lot of news coming through...We're three weeks away from release and we still have a lot of questions concerning licences, game modes etc...I've seen some shoddy PR in my life, but the twats at Cunami take the cake...

yes you have right, seems like a top secret project from nasa.
i dont understand its just a game, they should give us the demo 3 weeks before for people just play and see. i think the game is like pes2008 and they want to sell so they dont show us the demo some time after lololol. i hope not i love pes, but they treat pes like a united states secret project.:COAT:

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

I'm sure the game will be out a week before the official release in some countries. I remember PES6 or PES2008 was released in Holland about 4-5 days before the official release. Its good that way anyway cause then you get to read their impressions while you wait to play the game

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

However, penalty and free kick changes are something that should not be done lightheartedly. I, for one, have always like the way free kicks were taken in PES, I don't know why. I have more gripes with the way keepers react in free kicks - as in "I can never score a long range free kick to the side where the keeper was standing, fooling him" - but I can understand that people would maybe like a different way to score free kicks and penalties. If I had to suggest, for free kicks I'd take the Libero Grande approach (which I believe also featured in a FIFA game some years ago), where you'd point, then choose where you'd hit the ball, and then the longer you'd press the button, the harder you'd shoot.

Penalties, however, I have a hard time picturing a change. I enjoyed the ISS ones gameplay wise - with the cursor in the screen. A bit like PES's ones in Wii. However, aesthetically it sucks a bit, and when playing multiplayer, I'm not sure if it is a good decision to show the cursor on screen - even if there's an option to hide it.

About FK's, I mentioned specially those f****** FK's in midfield where you can nothing but lose the ball or make a short pass, with also a big chance to lose the ball. The lack of freedom in those free kicks is ridiculous. The direct FK's are OK.

About PK's, just check FIFA 2009 demo, the penalties are huge. You can make Panenka FK's (Zidane 2008 WC final style), you can use the finesse button to sacrifice power with accuracy/technique style, and you have a power bar for any type of shot! Is this kind of things so difficult? Penalties at PES are the same as Super Soccer in SNES or Goal in NES... do I need to say more?

Your post is very cool, and yes, you should get a life

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Yes and those goal kicks must be improved!!! Why can´t we pass to the defensive player we want? It has always to be the same central defender. Things like these make us think they´re lazy.

That used to annoy me in PES too, but in PES2008 you could perform a manual pass in any of 360 degrees by pressing R3 and pointing where you wanted to pass it. I never lost the ball once after I discovered that. It was quite something to use it online. I hope they've kept it for PES2009.

ThomasGOAL: Do you already have a listing from demo's on PSN next thursday?

This is the most informative PES post I've read in years.

Is this for real? This was actually my major gripe with the indirect free kick system (yes, you lot were right - I had forgotten of the indirect free kicks!).

If this works, you just made my day.

How do you aim? Relative to where the camera is facing, or is it relative to the radar?

--- i.e. If you push the right stick "up", will the ball go to your front, or "upwards" parallel to the midfield line?

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

It's confusing at first (and it's been about 7 months since I last played next-gen PES2008), but it's relative to your normal camera view, not to the free kick view.

E.g. if you point the right stick up and then press R3 (length of press determines strength), your free kick will go left relative to the free-kicker.

If you want to pass to a defender behind your position (the safest option from a midfield FK), you have to point the stick left. It's confusing at first but you soon pick it up. Pressing L1 makes the pass aerial, so with practice you can float long balls to wherever you want on the pitch, in any direction.

Like I said, this had better be in PES2009. Using the manual free kick pass online is also a bonus, as the majority of players don't know about it, and they do their usual thing of putting their player in front of your free kick to crowd you and try to intercept. Then, using this manual pass, you pass the ball completely safely to a defender behind you, or even back to your keeper - and you can almost feel your opponent wondering WTF?, etc....

Brilliant!

Thanks a lot for the info. :)

Can you do a manual LONG pass too?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

I never knew that, I never tried it on any previous PES games and I never played 08 for long enough to find it.

Do you have any idea if it works on other PES games? It could be useful.

I very much doubt that it is 360 degree control though, when not one other aspect of the game uses one bit of analog control.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Adam @ WENB told that you can now use the manual passing without clicking the R3

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

We should be able to choose manual passing and use the pass buttons same as Fifa, having to move the right hand off the buttons onto the analogue stick is really stupid IMO.

This was on on PES5 and 6 (didn't check previous versions and didn't look on 08), although it was completely useless as it could only be hit in 8 directions...

What is the point having "manual passing" if you only have 8 directions to use it in? No point.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

I'm not sure about PES2008 manual free kick passes being in 'true' 360 degrees of direction. I'm pretty sure it was just the 8 cardinal directions. But in relation to the apparent options available to a PES free-kicker using the default pass control (i.e. tapping X in the general direction of your nearest forward player and hoping for the best), 8 directions is as good as 360 directions....

As someone else has mentioned, pressing R3 whilst pointing with the stick was the fiddliest, trickiest thing to master. Took me about 20 goes just to feel reasonably confident playing a short pass directly behind the kicker. Worth it in the long run, though.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

If nobody is aware, you can do the manual passing in 2008 WITHOUT pressing down R3.

Not sure of the exact setting, but its definitely there as I've been using it since PES2008 came out. Also, combine it with R1 for a manual lobbed pass too - useful for pinpoint crossing around the box!

Agreed!!!

Also in previous PES you don´t need to push r3. You could set up controller configuration 2 and you just need to point the Right Analog, so it´s not a big new for pes 2009. However I agree with Placebo. Konami should change the manual pass buttons. Also the fact that the passes haven´t 360 degrees direction sucks... That´s one of my complains about PES. Im a fan boy, but a fair one :)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Hi staff okay?

I know that Konami would be releasing a demo of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 day 26. someone has such confirmation.

They also want to know if there is confirmation from the International, as the only Brazilian team in the game

Hugs

There's all kinds of exotic ways to set up the control options, yes. The topic cropped up here in the context of free kicks. As far as I know pressing R3 is the only way to do it from free kicks using the default controls.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Why do people say is manual, it's not is it? Like someone said isn't still 8 direction but the only thing that is manual is the power? It's useless... I'd accept semi manual, but please you can't say manual when it doesn't have a huge amount of directions like in FIFA. They really need to add the option to go fully manual on PES, it feels so old gen to have the cpu do all the work for you.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

An italian PS3 site claims that Konami has officially announced the demo for 15th October.

Worrying that the demo doesn't look like coming out for a while. The PES demos were usually on magazines (or in Game stores I seem to remember) a good few weeks before release with the exception of the PES2008, which appeared on the PS Network after they'd flogged many copies of the sub-standard full game. hope to be pleasantly surprised though!

Agree, GK's suck big time... just like Vista

About that "manual" free kick, it is good info, thank you buddy! :D

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Rumor: PES 2009 release delayed by a week, maybe more?

This wouldn't surprise one bit if true. Gamestation is currently going against the UK retailer trend of putting PES 2009 at an October 17th release (and Konami's Official press release). Instead, GameStation is now showing PES 2009 with a release date of October 24th slapped on it...

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Konami already said what the release-date is.
I do not expect them to delay the game only 2 weeks after their official release date announcement. Illogical.
