Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

I was watching one of those gaming channels on Sky on Monday night (during the nightmare which was the Spurs - Villa game), and one of the points made about the Fifa and PES series games was the fact that neither yet give the impression that you are playing on grass; the players merely seem like they are floating above a colourful floor. They got onto the physics of grass and the weight of players, by which time I'd switched back over to the nightmare which was the Spurs - Villa game, but I understood their point, to a degree.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Please do not forget what made PES the best football game on the market. It was never about pretty graphics. The gameplay, variety of animations and superb ball physics is what it is all about. Some people seem to have forgotten that. 2008 is still the best current football game even if it sucks in PES-relation.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Yeah, pretty much. If you want to see a game that is noticeably improving then Fifa's for you. If you want the best football game then it's still PES. You can say that EA listen to the fans and all that, but the game fundamentally is not PES and it will take a long time before it's even close.

The problem is that the level of detail you have in the opening cutscenes simply isn't possible to recreate in-game. We're only actually a few years ahead of playing with players with more letters in their names then polygons in their models.

It's a waiting game really, which people here don't particularly specialise at.

Thank God I dont go to FIFA forums and bash the game. I feel sorry for the people that needs to bash PES to feel good and to feel that FIFA is the best game (for them, of course) as a consequence of that bashing.

If FIFA is all the good that some people say, I myself wont spend a single second bashing the "other" game. It is so terrible to become a hater... God bless you buddies!

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Fifa looked the bees knees until the demo, where people were a bit miffed. But I guess it's natural that Fifa falling below expectations kinda buggers up your argument a bit, so all the best in trying to take PES down even though it's shaping up to be a shitload better than we could have hoped.

Please stop taking this thread off topic by discussing the Fifa demo.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Animations in changing directions, turn, many movements are so sharp not real! Are terrible. Is this doing a one year from Konami? Where are next gen animations? What are those movements Buggy? I do not understand , how so in PES 6 succeed to do so realistic animation, movement and now they have more opportunities, resources next gen are so weak? :censor:

couldnt agree more

why people keep saying its like PES5 i will never know, PES5 had proper animation :SS

the keepers also look as bad as ever, the only positive thing on that video is the net physics, but the look of the nets are still very poor

That's wrong, as I always go for the better game, and that is now FIFA :)).

same here

i am a fan of football not a bloody company, thus i will play the best game that resembles football to me

and fifa is currently doing that , where as pes did in the past - yes the past and unfotunatly they have remained there while the platforms, technology has evolved

if konami produce the better game i will play that instead - for now EA get my money

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (NO FIFA DEMO DISCUSSION - POSTS WILL BE DELET

Hi mates;

As we can hardly find any news on PES 2009; I would like to update you about 3 previews of Turkish magazines; EGM, Level and Oyungezer. Before reviewing previews; I have to declare that there is nothing new for us except from scores of the game and comments on gameplay. Two weeks ago I got EGM Turkey; because they had PES 2009 press copy and preview of the game. They scored the preview with 87 out of 100. Then; I saw Level magazine; which is a reliable mag (personally); they have huge review of the game, 8-9 pages. They elaborated game modes, played lots of matches and wrote a review (not a preview) of press copy. They were extremely pleased about the game. The review score is %97; they do not think that they will change their mind on score, when they get the final release. Editor of mag is the reliable guy; who has been my main source since PES 2. He told me that he has been totally satisfied about gameplay, graphics, animations etc. His motto in his email to me was (something like) Return of the King. In a while; mag had reviewed PES 2008 with a score 6.7 or 7.0 out of 10. As they expressed all the cons of PES 2008 have been trimmed out; and finally we got the beauty of PES. They mentioned about improved ball physics, AI, slowed down game speed, flexible animations. They called PES 2008 as a pinball soccer and 2009 as a real one. Finally; yesterday I got it Oyungezer Mag; they had 2 pages preview. They expressed the same things. It tastes like PES, but there are still problems related with goal keepers. Sometimes, silly shoots, passes might be a goal as a result of stupid acts of keepers. As they told; this is not a so negative point, because in PES 2009 defenses are much stronger and it is really hard to beat defensive player even with Kaka, Adriano, Messi etc. therefore; mistakes of the keepers might be the only chance for scoring. They also told that some of the star players has automatic movement (skills) to beat the defensive players; a few of them are new kind of skills, movements. When they compare the game with PES 2008, it is relatively easy game. As usual, they labeled the game as the one what PES 2008 should have been.

To sum up three mags;

-ball physics is really improved. You can feel the resistance of the wind.
-AI change game style much more according to score of the match.
-a few new tricks.
-improved defensive players. It is not possible to pass the defense with a skilled player.
- There are lots of different chances in all kinds of balls. In PES 2008, badly scripted balls resulted with nothing but boredom. It enriches the gameplay experience.
- In their copy; squads are (as usual) not up to date. Even, Hakan Sukur is still playing for Galatasaray, although he retired in June.
-Sometimes; automatic movements of players results with silly penalties, corners, fouls.
-Animations and graphics are really improved.
-become a legend is real fun. You have to work harder in training matches to play in 11. Otherwise; you watch the games. There is an option to view the match in *4 speed.
-There is a big question mark related with licenses.
- Silly goal keeper movements, although they are improved a little bit more.
- Intro (video) is really really so bad.

I know there is nothing new except from scores, someone looking for any kind of news might find them interesting. As there is no new image of the game; I did not scan the mags. But, I have to conclude that previews and review are really positive ones.

Just want the add that all the mags above have the preview copies for the game. EGM and Level claim that they have reviewed the game, but they have played the unfinished version of the game. So that the notes of the game are not very reliable. The preview version of the game doesn't have most of the leagues, the all dynamics of the game weren't implemented, the name of Champions League can not be seen in these articles. Also, this version was sent to gaming mags all over the world but only these two mags chose to review an unfinished version. And thus they have signed a NDA (non disclosure agreement) which prevents them from reviewing, both magazines have been banned by Konami and will never receive any material from Konami anymore. So tell me, how can be this mags and their articles can be reliable?

I am sure the game will have really high notes, but the notes above are not reliable. The articles of EGM and Level are not reviews of the game, unlike their editors say so.

Agreed, and to say the PES series has improved is a joke as well. If we're talking about the improvements on each previous title from PES3-PES08.

PES3 - Very good improvement on PES2
PES4 - Down the arcade route, not an improvement
PES5 - Back to being a bit realistic, a decent improvement. The best in the series.
PES6 - Disapointing, more arcadey than 5 with generally worse gameplay, not an improvement. 2v2 online made up for this slightly. The 360 version was woeful.
PES 08 - Need I say anything about it?

No new features in the series at all unless you count online 2v2 in PES6 (which was removed) and the International Challenge in PES6 (which was again removed I think).

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

I dont gt all the negativity.

I am personally looking forward to a playable PES game again.Expectations are going through the roof due to the new hardware available and just because konami have struggled to make the transition, it does not mean its not going to be fun.

All the seriousness of what plays and looks like the real thing is somewhat masking why we play games in the first instance, hence my sig.

I missed out PES2008 because it was clearly wrong in comparison to everything that whent before it, but now I can see its back to its former glories yet still lacking huge advancements. All i have wanted since buying a 360 is a pes game that offers good gameplay, improved graphics, good editing facilities and excellent online. this year i beleive it will deliver on all 4 counts and thus will be enjoyable.

I also think some people are drawn into the real gloss and licence's of FIFA and its hard to let go knowing you have to edit lots of stuff on PES, but i see it as part of the fun and can't wait to tinker.

FIFA is a great game but its still slow and a tad crowded for my personal taste and so i might well be more suited to PES. Either way PES has clearly improved alot on 2008 and online will be an absolute ball even if it does lack FIFA's innovation and superb presentation.

Everyones opinion is welcome but I am only taking note of the opinions of those discussing the positivity of the clear improvements not the fact its not made the strides FIFA has..............it's irrelevant as those who like the game or want it to succeed, dont need people bashing it every time we big it up.

I am not digging at anyone in particular but lets just please enjoy the improvements and look forward to a fun experience, some of us are clearly excited about.

I referenced the demo, I didn't talk about it. Nice try though.

That's wrong, as I always go for the better game, and that is now FIFA :)).

Better in some aspects perhaps, not the gameplay though, which is pretty much all I'm interested in.

and fifa is currently doing that , where as pes did in the past - yes the past and unfotunatly they have remained there while the platforms, technology has evolved

The problem is that Fifa is doing it with smoke and mirrors. There's not much beyond the polish to really get stuck into. I appreciate how having a swish front end is nice and all but it really isn't what I'm after.

that graph in the previous page is a joke

Are you honestly calling into question the credibility of a graph I made in MSPaint with 3 coloured lines?

I even titled it "Highly Scientific Graph"

Seriously folks, it would be more difficult to judo chop these down if you put some heart into it.

I'm only really interested in gameplay too, that is why I play FIFA. Deeper and more realistic gameplay.

I'm sorry, I laughed when I read the sentence "That's wrong, as I always go for the better game, and that is now FIFA".

Glad to know that preferences are objective.

When you decide what games to buy, always let me know, 'cause I don't want to be mistaken into buying a game that you won't buy ;)

Not contesting the fact that you think that FIFA is better, just enjoying thinking that the way for us to know if a game is the better one or not is because you always go for the better one

I don't want to take this thread off-topic, so I won't commend FIFA for their recent efforts which are admirable.

Still, I'm betting that PES will still keep me more entertained and addicted in the long run.

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

It was a reply to the comment:
"Yeah, pretty much. If you want to see a game that is noticeably improving then Fifa's for you. If you want the best football game then it's still PES"

Which also implies that preferences are objective...

I worded it slightly wrongly, I should have put "for me" or similar at the end.

Obviously I know preferences are subjective, but I was pointing out that what Badgerman said was incorrect...

Badgerman your graphs are not in ratio there are points where fifa should not be on the same page.

Ah, I forgot that he is the one with the advanced intellect.

Paulo, you mind meeting me down the pub later? I need to discuss with you the proper technique to remove the lid off of my yoghurt as I am hungry.

But yeah, to dismiss PES now based on videos when the game excels in gameplay is a tad absurd.

stfu arealy about f1*a

Junka, what the hell has happened to you? I've slowly watched you descend into madness.

I mean, I'm sure you're still there but it looks like you're posting from a calculator.

:-ll

Obviously I know preferences are subjective, but I was pointing out that what Badgerman said was incorrect...

Fifa has drastically improved in recent years whilst Pro Evo has consistently been the best football game for the last 10 years. This is common knowledge, posting the :-ll smiley and playing dumb wont change that.

I'll meet you down the pub later, but I won't let you be having youghurt in the pub.

What I'm really sad - not that it was unexpected, though - is to not even have the slightest rumour about the demo coming out tomorrow. I guess it's another week without the demo, huh?

@Rob92: yes, I was just laughing at the wording, mate, it was not a personal remark.

Cheers,

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

I don't think I've played a PES demo since PES2, where GAME were giving it away with pre-orders.

Those were the days.

I think the general feeling is no Demo until the week before release... :((
