Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

One thing I still like about PES is the size of the pitch, it seems a lot more realistic than FIFA. It definitely looks to be an improvemnet of PES 2008, which quite frankly was a disgrace to the brand, but I don't know if it's enough to bring me back to playing PES, I will give it a try, because even till now, nothing has recaptured those multi player sessions I had back in the days of WE5 up until PES6. To me an overhaul ala FIFA is needed to inject life back into a flagging series. Konamis advantage is that if they made strides comparable to what EA have done then you would have one amazing game, as no doubt the base was a lot better on PES. But after playing FIFA 09 and from what I'm seeing of PES then it seems I may have to wait for Konami to deliver once again.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

On every clip i've seen so far, the keepers still look fucking terrible.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Does someone know:

- if you can play 2 vs 2 online from 4 consoles (so i play it from my console at home together in one team with a friend whoes playing from his own console at home) or can you only play together online in one team from one console?
- if there is lag online?

tia

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

When i want total control of the game, i simply go outside and play by myself, thats full analog passing and 360 movement, some analog whores over here should try it, its much more fun.
Speak for yourself, I have to use rails to run on.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Pes2009 is looking better but how couldn't it compared to last years shite. But if Konami try and pull any crap around the on-line play (ie we will fix it with a patch, but not very quicky) I wont be bothering any more. They have got to get this right or they have lost !!!

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Video looks very very good to me. its almost like watching winning eleven on last gen but on next gen. and by that i mean the quality of gameplay is now on par with last gen. smooth precise etc. it might not be animated perfectly and fluidly but it looks better than last years by a mile and maybe will earn the right to be the winning eleven we all know and love. ForzaEVO-web...

Im sorry mate but thats a total cop-out.

Why should I be satisfied with a game whose greatest achievement is matching what they did 3 years ago?

I understand that if you liked that gameplay this can only be a good thing, but in terms of evolution, as a football game or even as a project that these people get PAID to complete and improve, this is just totally, completely unacceptable and pathetic.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

How do you know that the GK's fuck terribly ???
Are there cut scenes with sex in it ???
Has Konami fallen so low that they need sex to sell their game ?
I'm a bit worried because on the previous page in this thread there was also talk about sex.
Is it integrated in the ML for example: the goal keeper is very bad at sex and so his wife leaves him for the defensive midfielder which of course is not good for the moral of the GK and his friends and which also lowers certain stats of the whole team. If it is integrated in this way it could be interesting...it happens IRL too (Michel Platini in St-Ettienn...his wife left him for a team mate...very realistic...good to hear that PES is a simulation again...).
Can't wait to buy the game and look at the screens in the ML menu: "Rooney is terrible in bed and Colleen leaves him for Neville"..."Ashley Cole is too good in bed and has had sex with the WAG of at least four team mates and three opponents").

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

My pes6 edited looks more real than the videos i saw. Not only visually, but there is something wrong about pace and tempo in those videos, it all looks the same. Running animations are still weird.

But they got a bit of the pes feeling back, the ball physics looks pretty solid and players run into space more convincingly. I think i might buy it.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

after seeing that vid, only a jealous fifa fanatic would bag the game, the pace is jus perfect, fifa may have improved but if i was a fifa fan id feel so ripped off playin arcade so called soccer for ten years, i really feel sorry for em coz pes is real football..

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Video looks good to me! Goals are scored a bit easy though in this video, especially the goal of Ribery. Maybe they are playing on 1 or 2 stars level?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

PES 2009 is looking fantastic, they have got the pace to a great level imo and it will be enjoyable to play and less scripted juding by the screens. The only reservation I have is players being able to 'cut in' too easily and that animation is not realitic imo.

For me there has to be a real distinction between the players attributes, e.g. Pirlo's passing should be noticeably better than say Zokora's :)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

As said before some of the running looks a little off and the keepers were non too bright, pace of play a little too fast still but I like the pitch always looks better than Fifa, size wise... Two good titles this year?

We're clamping down on knocking fans of either game, it should just be opinions of the games themselves so posts like this are not needed here.

I'm not singling you out in particular, just to highlight my point.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

hmmm looks ok
and good pitch and camera view,

scoring looked pretty easy, there was i moment when Henry got the ball and only needed to outrun 1 defender and score, normaly in pes2008 he would easly beat it and score. This means in a way the gameplay is indeed changed,
Or he's stats are downgraded now.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Video looks great, but I didnt see any saves from the keepers. I just hope they've improved on last years. The goal from Tevez was superb, though.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

I think the main gripe with PES is the fact is is very arcadey, and not simulation enough. I mean, in reality, football isnt all about picking up the ball and running with it. Sometimes you see games where the players just stroll around looking for a pass, at walking pace sometimes, especially defenders with a lot of time on their hands. In football games from a virtual perspective, its all about speed and getting to that ball as fast as you can. When you have it, attacking with pace is the order of the day. Thats why in almost every video clip you see of PES, and also FIFA, fans are crying out for the speed to be slowed down to a more realistic level, like you're watching a game on the TV. Trying to find that balance is very hard, but the clips do have that 'arcade' feeling about them.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Spotted what looks like a new drag back animation at the kick off, after the Teves goal (at around the 50 second mark)

looks nice and the ball is tightly controlled.

I agree. For example when I play Fixed Cursor, I am always bugged by the fact that there is no way to "walk" with the player. I either have to sprint, run or hold R2 and skip around like a defender on edge. It would make a huge difference if players further from the action are just chilling and waiting for some action. That alone would give the impression of a less "hyper", as opposed to 22 players who are all looking like they are coked up and ready for a pink elephant to come up from under the grass and eat them.

Also, the automatic shot feint when turning really turns me off completely. I'm not sure I can look at those when I play the game. Seeing Ronaldinho do that animation in real life as he is turning would would look absolutely ridiculous. :)

Yeah, looks great, FIFA09 (pardon the mention) could use that type of close control, as currently I feel that is missing, PES2008 had that R2 dribble mode that was just awesome and very realistic, whilst FIFA09 players take much harder touches on the ball, and never keeps it really close to the body.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

yeah, I think PES needs to recognize that players are not always alert, example in a real life match, when you have center-backs with the ball, they always seem to control the ball in a relaxed manner, because there's no opposing player near enough to unsettle them.
In PES its always frantic.

They should set the player to automatically be able to calm down(more relaxed dribble, calmer passing) once he's in a position where no player from the opposing team is near enough to threaten him.
