Thats my man gripe with this game. To me it looks like i'm watching a PS2 game. The animations look so dated and poor. No excuse for lack of improvement on this side of things.

Licensing seems to be a bit all over the shop doesn't it? Do people prefer to have licensed leagues or licensed kits or boots?

To be honest as long as the kit templates are in there I'm more than happy for no licenses at all, it actually bugs me that the licensed teams' kits are fixed AND they're not made using templates from the edit mode.

I'm really glad the proper boots are in there with expanded kit mode personally, as long as the colours can be changed of course! It's no worry regarding the plain boots in some screenshots, as the boots are historically always the last detail to get added due to the rapid turnover in boot styles. It's evidence of slightly different builds too, of course.

Regarding the numbers, Liverpool have Prem ones, but Man U have the plain numbers styled from their new blue kit which is strange, maybe there are different numbers in different modes, maybe you just have to pick one as before and the screenshots just show different editing options?

I've read that there are far more 'signature' animations this time so they're making some progress.

But when you think how much goodwill is being lost with petty things like shirt untucked options not being in the edit mode for the sake of the shirt-pulling animations though, you can see how Konami miss the point some of the time... How hard can it be to offer long/short/rolled up sleeves, ankle socks over the usual socks, coloured and selectable undershirts and tights, different sizes of shinpad and all the other minor customisations?

It must be simple, but they just don't do it. It's insane.

Their obviously leaving it out for a reason i.e. tugging shirts or w/e they dont do it to piss us off

You'd hope not, but you do have to wonder sometimes! Unless the game is rigged to prevent shirt-pulling on players with their shirt out you'd have to have a shirt-pull animation for an already-out shirt, so there's no reason not to be able to set the shirt to untucked to begin with!

But then just try and get more than 3 players sent off in a match, Konami aren't averse to rigging the game to prevent awkward outcomes and save themselves some tricky coding.

And it can't be FIFAs 1990s directive about having to have your shirt tucked in, they're not a licensee!

also why no tucked shirts still? :? they invented the bloody thing (in games) but now FIFA have em and PES dont

WTF is wrong with Konami? the CL trailer was great but the tucked shirt just makes some players look awful and unrealistic

i completly agree with u...its frustating that we cant set player to untucked shirt..it makes a lot of diference when u look at them playing...

thomas said there will be untucked shirts during the game like in pes2008, but im still trying to see a picture or a video showing taht..and im affraid konami took this out of the game.. it would be a disgrace imho

The trouble with the untucked shirts example is that it seems like a very small thing to complain about, but its completely symptomatic of Konami just not getting what a lot of long time PES players like to do, which is make everything as realistic as possible due to the long time lack of licenses. That's where their fanbase came from, people interested in gameplay not licenses, and they can still win BOTH of those wars with a bit of effort, but in the meantime they're falling way behind EA with the next gen interactivity which is where FIFA sounds like it's improved this year.

Konami's problem now is getting the traditional PES detail and gameplay back whilst building their online modes.

i couldnt agree more with what u said there... same goes for the mix kit option konami took away, and thats why im afraid they might have took out untucked shirts from the game for good...i just wanna see one picture and ill relax.

Either that or Konami's drugs are stronger than we think, they've had a licensed CL in ISSPE and PES for the past ten years and only you're inert to them so only you could see it ?

Well, I've just gone looking and I haven't managed to find a single pic of a untucked shirt.

And also, as they seem to have been working on the shirt material movement I wouldn't be surprised if that's the reason given if there's no untucking - it remains to be seen if there's any shirt pulling or if that's been removed too. Then again it could be a last minute thing to put in and just wasn't part of the code in the version(s) the screenshots came from. The shirt material looked good at first glance, now on the screenshots I've noticed there only seems to be about 3 default material shapes - but that's better than just one I guess.

One other thing I've just realised, there's shots of Ghana v Scotland, with Scotland in their new Diadora kit - which they only unveiled about 3 weeks ago, so that's some quick work by Konami there (assuming they didn't get tipped off in advance). I doubt the Wales "Champion" kit will be in though, or a template to create it.

And I liked the mix kit option as well, especially for national teams in WE10 due to the FIFA policy of having teams play in all one colour (usually white) as a change kit if they can possibly make it happen.

Im doing my utmost not to get caught up in the hype but PES 2009 is looking shweeet.

I'm hoping the online and edit mode is comprehensive enough to fix all the missing licenses and I'll be MIA for quite a while.

Something I remembered this morning, about the CL license being used within the ML as some people are thinking about...

When EA had the Champions League license, they released a CL game, where you could only play in the CL - in the career mode in FIFA, it was completely unlicensed and called the "ECC", which is frustrating.

Now this could be because:

A) EA want to release two seperate games and take £40 off you at the start of the year before they take £40 off you at the end of the year

B) There is smallprint in the CL license that states it can't be mingled with other licenses in some way

C) There is smallprint in the CL license that states it can only be used in a CL competition, not involving other game modes/events

Of course, you would think A) is the most likely option. But Konami are a company as well, they release 2-3 WE games in Japan a year as well as PES. Just a thought!

That's an interesting point, Chris, but I'm still more inclined to A) and lack of time...

Otherwise - and since Konami already releases 2/3 games in Japan each year, I don't see why wouldn't they release a game just with the CL in the middle of the year, instead of mixing it with PES.

[EDIT] What I mean is, if EA had the license, they could as well have put the game mode in FIFA and end the story, instead of shipping a second game in the year, right?[/EDIT]

Not that any of the other options doesn't make sense, mind you.

Dan you do realise that FIFA releasing a demo does not obligate KONAMI to do the same. I'm sure they'll release one soon. Its still over a month to release date, chillax man.

Sorry for the double post but if anybody is watching the Liverpool v Manchester United game.

Just count the number of untucked shirts being worn by the players.

The ironic thing is they are both licensed in PES 2009. :brick:

Indeed almost half the players are using the untucked shirt
