The problem is that Sony should have been asking this stuff back in August or so, and then released a statement in late October / November saying what was going to be available day 1, what would be patched in day 1, what would be patched in over the coming months and what isn't (currently) planned to go in at all.
As it is, this announcement via FAQ makes it seem like there was no room for manoeuvre, no plans to add anything in over the coming months/years. In particular it makes the Music Unlimited thing sound insidious, trying to force people to sign up to something they don't want.
I have no doubt that the CD, MP3, external HDD and DLNA functionality will be patched in ASAP, whether it's day 1 or in the months after that. It's wrong to equate this to MS's initial plans for Xbone - even if all of this was intentional for the sake of avoiding piracy/forcing MU subscriptions, the scale of this is nothing like the same as what MS had in store - but it's valid to call it a PR screw-up/oversight which has left a sizeable number of people disgruntled. It's up to Yoshida to, er... gruntle... everyone, ASAP.
