Next Gen Consoles

Don't think we can compare PS4/XB1 to the PS3/360. Like mentioned already the problem with the PS3 was the Cell. PS4 doesn't have that now so the "harder to develop for" won't be available. PS4 is made to be much easier to develop for in contrast plus being more powerful according to what we know so far. That's what's intriguing :)

So the order will probably go - Develop on pc, port to ps4 easily, cram down to Xbox.

Essentially, like I said prior it will likely mean PS4 versions will run smoother whereas their will probably be some pushing the Xbox to try and get it to look equal with some little performance drops in certain situations.

Naughty Dog is essentially the trump card for Sony too at this point, probably the best developers around.

It's really different, PS3 is a little beat more powerfull (but less memory) than the Xbox 360, but the PS3 have a very different architecture and tools and very hard for programmers, but this time the PS4 have the same architecture than the Xbox One, but much powerfull and tools are very simple, more simple than Xbox One because of eSRAM.

I look forward to some stunning PC games then seeing as it shares a common platform with both consoles and a high-end PC wipes the floor with both of them.

The truth may be a little different.

Oh noes please don't throw PC in the mix else this thread will rot.

No, I'm not flaming or anything, Lami. PC is relevant to this generation as there is much more commonality between XB1, PS4 and PC. Potentially good things for all concerned, however devs no longer have a legitimate excuse for not developing games on PC.

Hmm, so much drama. I should just take the plunge and buy a new PC and forget about the racket that is console gaming altogether.

I hope devs develop so games run very well on low to mid range PCs. Hopefully that'll dilute the number of PC players enough that nobody can actually hear the pocketful who think that their £1200 high end PC running games better than a console is of any interest to anyone anywhere, whatsoever.

Not a flame - I genuinely want this to happen. Though I worry that with the move towards photorealistic graphics combining with dynamic night & day cycles, the high end PC gamers will fit curtains to their monitors and not be able to open them for half of the game...

You all talk about the PS3 being so much more powerful it's not.
It has slightly faster Ram and more Ram available when processing games if it even all gets used to breaking point.
It is more powerful yes but not like you guys are making out where games will be developed for its use specifically.

A point we need to remember too is we live in a hardcore gamer bubble we are the minority.
Most gamers are casual and won't even know about microsofts policies changing etc.
Main factors will be the PS3 being $100 cheaper and gamers already having friends and gamer score on a PS3 or like in America Xbox 360
It's the Madden/Fifa and COD crowd that will decide this war not me and you

I think that kind of gamer, are the kind who head towards the console that's the prettiest etcsound the cheapest. so if the specs on ps4 really do mean their games run just ever so smoother and look better... They'll head to that.
I have no idea what the tflops and ram mean for games yet. We should know around October time

Sounds like MS have thrown the baby out with the bathwater on this one. Some decent features gone, other things which could have been optional - gone.

I'm noticing a mixed reaction about this. I think they've done the right thing but for the wrong reasons. Get rid of the camera and make the console £100 cheaper - that will be a good move.

well the whole public moaned about steam like DRM and now they are not happy certain features are gone. cant please everyone.

personally i couldnt give a damm about the past xbone DRM always online as i am primarily a pc gamer and us PC gamers have had this Sort of DRM since Half Life 2.

No PC game cares about this DRM as its nothing new for us.

Yup, wasn't so much DRM that bothered me about xbone, more the price point and camera monitoring your heart-rate and all, it really doesn't sound like a console, and fact they tried to come out at the start and focus purely on tv features (which only focuses in u.s) which is something i really don't need, really put me off.

I preordered a PS4 but I'm disappointed that MS didn't stick to its guns.

It would've been interesting to see how some of what they were trying to achieve worked out in the end. I'm not convinced that DRM wouldn't prove to be a good thing for the industry in the end.

Who are the audiences of angryjoe anyway ?

" We stand up againts ms.. bla bla.., now we win"

:TTTH:

He does from time to time make good points (Don't know about this video in particular)

but the win part, I really don't see how 'we won', with taking away restrictions, they add restrictions in other areas such as ditching family sharing plan so it's really odd to be happy to going back a step.

Thing is, they will put restrictions on games 2-3 years down the line, when they suck enough people in, playstation will be doing something similar with going all digital (which i believe most games come out day 1 digital on PS3/4?) which the day's of getting manuals in game cases will be long gone by time ' next next gen' arrives.

I still don't get what allowing to buy/sell used games, no 24 online checks, and region free games have anything to do with ditching the family plan. That's just nonsense on their part. They're trying to throw guilt on people. The PS3 already has something similar with their sharing your account with 5 people and still have region free games, used games, no online checks etc.

Really don't get the relation. They should still have it in place as an option whenever people buy digital games.

yes i think MS tried to implement Steam on their consoles. it will only work of games retail no more then £30 and if they do a once a year fire sale of all there popular games or do something similar to ps+ where you can get games for free

Think I'm going to get the Xbox One, Forza 5 is too big a pull to resist. Prefer the look of the xbox controller also. Not going to pre order just yet though.

Yeah. Have a feeling they'll come up with a cheaper version excluding the kinect. Don't mind the kinect but I don't need it at launch. Can easily buy it later at a cheaper price.

This info apparently came from a very reliable source within the industry:

When your family member accesses any of your games, they’re placed into a special demo mode. This demo mode in most cases would be the full game with a 15-45 minute timer and in some cases an hour...

When the time limit was up they would automatically be prompted to the Marketplace so that they may order it if liked the game...

The difference between the family sharing and the typical store demo is that your progress is saved as if it was the full game, and the data that was installed for that shared game doesn’t need to be erased when they purchase the full game!

So family sharing would be shit really.

Typical.

We need a new Microsoft conference now so they can actually tell us what their vision is and why we need one.

I don't know how people are now willing to buy an Xbox One when Microsoft tried to screw them over multiple times and Sony saving the free market gaming future.

PS4 all the way in this household.

Confirmed on neogaf as well.

Lovely. Just lovely. They tried to make us feel guilty and throw the blame on us for removing this glorious demo sharing plan. Arrogant pricks.

That's it for me. PS4 it is.
