If it was on the XBone you'd say it looks shit.
It's next gen thread, why you speak about the Xbone ?If it was on the XBone you'd say it looks shit.
Thanks Sonywow the consumers actually got what they wanted.
So before I could play a friends game without having to borrow the disc or going to his house to pick it up but now I'll have to wait for him to finish the game before I can borrow it. Sounds to me like we'll now have to buy the games we want instead of simultaneously playing them from a friend's purchase which sits on the cloud. I guess that's a direct result of taking out the online check every 24 hours. Shame it couldn't work some other way like when the friend goes to play it, there's a check done at that point or something. Eh...
Hopefully they bring in a choice for both types of gamers. Those who DO have an always on connection and want to be able to share games without needing multiple copies of a disc and those who play offline only (or mainly) and want to play from disc.
I'm hoping Microsoft can come up with some middle ground here. I was hopeful (but skeptical) that Microsoft's stringent requirements that all it's users would be online and their strong push towards an all digital marketplace would push gaming to a better future. I liked the idea behind all my games being tied to my account (which could be taken anywhere) instead of tied to a physical disk. And frankly, I just wanted to see how well the Steam-style marketplace would translate to consoles.
But, like I said, maybe Microsoft can come up with a solution that pleases both camps. Perhaps there can be some way to enter their digital rights program on a volunteer basis and take advantage of their "family plan" idea and other features. Now we have two consoles that are essentially the same as their previous generation but with better graphics.
This really scraps my plan to buy 3 X1s for my house for each viewing room (Living room, kids playroom, my bedroom) and just move my content room to room digitally. It was going to be awesome. Sigh.
KUDOS to Microsoft for seeing the light (not that they had a choice really) and for Sony in leading the way. I'm now interested in picking up an Xbox180 at some point down the road--when the price is reasonable.
I think they are making a quick decision now to make sure they don't lose too much of the market share and hopefully they can re-introduce the sharing feature with a more considered approach after they launch.
