Re: NBA 2K10 - PS3, 360, PC, Wii, PSP

I'm curious to see how they animate that tongue in the game. Because it's quite obvious there will be a lot of mythic teams in it. If not, what sense would make Jordan there?

Re: NBA 2K10 - PS3, 360, PC, Wii, PSP

I finished the regular season (my 2nd season) with the Nets with a 60 - 22 record, we get Toronto in the first round of the playoffs and we fall behind 3 - 0 . I'm thinking this Dallas vs Golden State all over again!

In the game 3, I was on a roll in the 3rd quarter and at the beginning of the 4th we had a 10 point lead, then the stupid logic in this mode struck. I was benched with just over 8 minutes left and wasn't brought back in until the 1 minute mark, however we were now down by 11.
In game 4 I ditched my pass first mentality and was aggressive from the start, we won the game. In the end we managed to win three straight and take it to game 7. Both teams started slowly and it was a tight game throughout until the stupid logic struck once again. Brook Lopez and Rudy Gay were benched in the closing moments of the 3rd quarter and were not brought back in until there were five minutes left in the 4th. By then it was too late, the Raptors had all the momentum and closed the game out.

I love this mode but the logic is just brutal and unrealistic.

I've moved the OKC now, looking at the starting line up I should be able to play more uptempo now but Russel Westbrook is on the bench now because of me...

Damn you and your PS3-ness. :( I would love to make a crew.

Re: NBA 2K10 - PS3, 360, PC, Wii, PSP

There's not a great deal of 2K11 new stuff in this video... and that was intentional. Just fyi.

If there is nothing new, why release it? There isn't a HD version anywhere too.

LeBron doing Rondo's signature move just doesn't look right.

'NBA 2K11' issues 'The Jordan Challenge'

Video game players finally get their shot to "be like Mike."

Pro basketball simulation NBA 2K11 will feature a new game mode where players can relive legendary moments from the career of Michael Jordan.

The Jordan Challenge will focus on 10 games from the Chicago Bulls legend's playing days. Each game will include a series of statistical goals players must complete as his Airness.

"(Players) will get a chance to feel how hard it was to actually achieve what he did," says Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for game publisher 2K Sports.

Gamers will not only control Jordan, but some of the classic Bulls teams of the '80s and '90s. The games have been recreated to authentically mirror the appearance of arenas and players from that era

Among the Jordan highlights featured:

-- 1990 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers. Jordan scored a career high 69 points in an 117-113 overtime win.

-- 1992 NBA Finals. In Game 1 against the Portland Trail Blazers, Jordan scored 35 points in the first half, draining a record six 3-pointers.

-- 1997 NBA Finals. Battling a stomach virus, Jordan scored 38 points in a pivotal Game 5 victory against the Utah Jazz.

Argent says additional features integrating Jordan will be revealed closer to the game's release. NBA 2K11, which also features Jordan as the cover star, hits stores on October 5 for multiple platforms.

The Jordan Challenge - NBA Developer Insights

Jordan Moments and Era-Specific Playbooks

Okay so by now you have heard that Jordan will indeed be a playable character in NBA 2K11 in a new feature 2K is calling the Jordan Challenge. Each available Jordan moment has a title and goals that must be accomplished. The difficulty in performing these is greatly enhanced with all of the new gameplay-related updates 2K11 will sport this year. This is much more than just old-school rosters plugged into an already built NBA 2K11.

They went into painstaking detail to include the old-school arena floors and in some instances the actual arenas (The Forum is Alive BABY).

As a fan of the NBA in the '80s and '90s, it did something to my spirit to see Magic at the point and Worthy and Scott on the wings. But everything is taken to another level entirely when you see the red endlines and look up and notice the familiar Forum trappings.

What also adds to the experience is the fact that the announcing team has game-specific commentary, and in cases where it makes sense, they provide information on what happened in games leading up to the game you're playing for the challenge.

Since we can't talk about everything in detail yet, I know the members of the SIM Nation will be excited but reserved until they can learn if the gameplay is up to par with this new Jordan-centric mode. While it's much too early for gameplay information, I can share a small tidbit you will only find here at Operation Sports: NBA 2K11 -- with prodding from the Czar -- decided to include era-specific playbooks to support the gameplay in the Jordan Challenge mode.

So not only will Jordan physically change over the course of the mode and become more physically built and have less hair, but you will be able to watch the offense he works out of evolve as well. Jordan in '86 did not have the dominant post game he sported later in his career. The Jordan who exploded on the Knicks for his infamous double-nickle game was just coming back and was not in great shape, so the majority of his scoring was done in post-ups and 15-18 foot isolations. There are enough offensive tools to provide die-hards everything they need to accurately re-create Jordan's moments all the way down to the offense.

Before I go I will just throw this out there because I know my community: YES, you can use the classic teams in Quick Play mode while trying to stop Jordan in his tracks. Good luck!

P.S. A reliable source informed me that if you just want to take one of Jordan's Bulls teams into Association mode, it should not be a problem.

Loving the look and the Challenges.

impressive indeed. too bad i dont have much interest in the sport :( i bought nba 2k10 and only played like 10 games on it

Looks amazing, especially the Jordan challenges, can't wait to replay classic 90s games with my favourite team.

I still play NBA 2K10 for the odd game, which was a lot better after the patch earlier this year.

I'm looking forward to My Player mode again.

So with the Jordan Challenges, does that mean all those classic Vs Teams will be in the game as well? Bird at the Celtics, Magic at the Lakers, Wilkins at the Hawks, Malone and Stockon at the Jazz, Isiah at the Pistons, Kemp and Payton at the Sonics etc.

Really hope so, cause I remember more about the NBA from that era than the current players.

Apparently, they are, with their real stadiums of that period. It would be really great. I grew up loving the NBA in the 80s, so I remember a lot of players. And it was the golden time of the nba. I mean, you can't top: Jordan, Wilkins, Bird, Magic, Olajuwon, Barkley, Isaiah, Malone, Stockton, Abdul-Jabbar... wow, I can see myself playing the Jordan Challenge again and again just to see them.

Yep all the players/teams are there complete with their signature shots and short shorts.

So will you be able to play as the other teams? Or as the Bulls only or Jordan only?

Will there be the version of Jordan that passes judgement on LeBron James?

I will love playing as Jordon, but I would love playing a game that is not broken even more, I hope they have fixed some the issues from last year.

I'm going to pick Jordan, transfer him to Cleveland and rape the Heat. And I'll laugh while doing it.

Not unless you are planning to transfer Jamison and Williams out of the Cavs, lol

It sounds like you'll be able to use the classic teams in the other modes, Association etc etc.

Once again they've said that online will be rewritten but they said the same last year. I will play a lot more online games this year if its 60fps on PS3.

I hope so for the online part. Last year I only played 3 or 4 matches online, and one was against you. It was simply not playable to me. I want at least 30 fps (60 fps would be great but I doubt itgiven the recent past).

And seriously they need the AI fixed so that exploiting the zone isn't as easy. That would make medium jumpers important again.

I think 60fps is possible, I never read about 360 players having difficulties when it comes to making shots.

The are a lot of fixes needed regarding the single player, hopefully they'll all be addressed.

The number one for me is for them to give us more control over the players. The animations are amazing and better than most if not all sports games but it also means that there is a set animation for absolutely everything. There are times when I'm at the top of the key and intentionally standing off Rondo only for the game to suddenly shift me to the left so that Rondo can make his way to the basket.

Given that there going to support PS Move, has anyone played 2K10 on the Wii?

i get around 100fps on my game at its highest settings

never ever had issues playing online with the 360, and I played in on line leagues with people who finished said leagues

Sorry, I didn't say it was a specific problem of the PS3 version online: you will get unstable FPS, and sometimes you are well under 30 fps, which is unacceptable.

I've tried playing online in the UK and it's terrible. Hope they sort this, cos I'd love to play online.

what I dislike about these games is the fact that players run like they're not subject to inertia, they just stop dead and turn 90° Automan-style regardless of what's going on most of the time and that really ruins the suspension of disbelief for me.

Also, animations look quite "robotic" from up-close and MJ's dunk in the GOAT trailer is no exception (there's no fluidity, it's like the whole animation is split in 4 parts and you can clearly see where one segment ends and the other one commences)...

It's a shame because being able to play with 90's classic teams has got to be too good to be true.

What i don't really get is why no major sport game have decent player models. They all look kinda funky, nbas, nfl, football etc.
Only decent one i could think of is NHL.

Ps2 player models were way better than this. And for god's sake, put more polygons in the player texture. It makes no sense to have beautifully recreated tattos and great crowds and then stinky arms and legs.

This current gen sport games have been nothing but disappointins so far. I still think nba2k7 is way better than the last 3 ones.
