MMA thread

It was on Bravo at 10 last night

That fight at the end was funny, especially Nate trying to kick him while he was on the floor and Nick giving kidney shots. I bet they loved a good old fashioned brawl

You can tell both Diaz's are that way inclined just by the grimaces they always have on there face

They both just look like they wanna fight all the time

I hope they throw Diaz and Miller in the cage together, that should be fiesty

Oh and miller has apologised

“I’ve been a fighter and a fan of MMA for over 12 years, and would never do anything to intentionally tarnish the sport I’ve given my life to. In the excitement of the moment I let my emotions run high and made a bad choice that resulted in a debacle, for that, I sincerely apologize.”

and Diaz explains his part

Dana White on the Strikeforce debacle

“Have you ever seen him do that at one of my shows?” White asked of Nathan Diaz. White said he believes the incident occurred because CBS didn’t align itself with the UFC. He said he had a tentative deal with CBS, but said that Showtime executives talked CBS into buying into the now-defunct Elite XC instead of agreeing to broadcast UFC fights.

The result, White said, was that an inferior product was put on national television. “Of course, everyone thinks I’m anti-competition, but I’m not,” White said. “But everyone knows that they didn’t belong on CBS. Even if you’re the biggest UFC hater out there, you know that. Shame on CBS for this. They knew they should have been with us, but they went out and let those Showtime idiots talk them into going with Elite XC.

“Now, they’re stuck with a bush league, C-level promotion that will probably be out of business next month,” he added. “And what you saw on Saturday is the kind of thing that happens when you put a product like that on national television.”

White also had harsh words for CBS play-by-player announcer Gus Johnson. Johnson said brawls happen in MMA when there is a lot of testosterone in the cage. White was also angered by Johnson’s commentary because he said he’s spent his career building his company to make sure that such incidents do not occur.

“When have you seen anything remotely close to that happen at a UFC event?” White said. “What kind of ridiculous commentary was that? That was an idiotic thing to say. And then he was yelling at them to stop, telling them they are on national television. That was just another example of how bush league they are.”

White said he is interested in signing Shields, who has two more months on his Strikeforce contract, but is not bound to the company beyond that despite holding its championship. He said Strikeforce “gambled on (the outcome) of fights” and put themselves in the position of having one of its champions bolt the promotion. White said it’s not the first time Strikeforce has done that.

“You never should gamble on fights,” White said. “They bet on (Melvin) Manhoef, (that he would beat Robbie) Lawler. Lawler was very unhappy and they wanted to get rid of him, but it backfired because he knocked Manhoef out. Then they treated Shields like (expletive), let his contract expire and they put all their money on Dan Henderson. “Now, Shields destroys Henderson and look where they’re at. That’s not how you do business.”

can't watch it yet as i am in work

but the last fight they had i put money on Rua doing a job on Machida (which he did) and lost winnings of about £170 i think because of the stupid decision

i based my prediction on shoguns past. i.e a fit healthy shogun has the potential to beat anyone.

even though he had very poor performances leading up to that fight in the ufc, i was hoping he had turned a corner (which it looked like he had)

unfortunately machida got away with that night, he was found out by shogun and unfortunately for shogun i think machida is going to bring something different to the table (well he has to right?)

this will make an interesting fight and i am in hope shogun beats him and gets his justice from the last fight (i bet shogun will want to finish it this time, he should of pushed to do that in the last fight which i bet is one of his regrets)

one of the bigger fights of the year for me

can't wait

I ain't particularly looking forward to another 25 minutes of Machida v Rua, but I'll watch it all the same.

Still no Strikeforce on newsgroups :((.

I've personally trained MMA and maybe he's exhausted from the training

I remember one time I lost my voice after a choke, I was unable to even speak for 2 days, I was unable to move my neck for 3 days, it hurt too much

haha

but hey, it's funny, he takes forever to answer

I remember I saw a video about Chuck on a TV show, he had some sleeping pills, and the guy was totally retarded lol!

To be honest with you I went to their last fight in Staples Center, LA

and I can assure you Shogun didn't pushed in the last round because he thought he had the fight in his hands

I remember thinking "Steady Shogun, just don't make any mistakes and the belt will be yours"

So, if you're winning the fight, why risk?

Just because the judges are idiots?

that's why I hate MMA, you can never leave it to the judges, even if you, your corner, and the entire stadium thinks you're winning, you can't leave it to them

So I hope Shogun will really dominate this time, and the if the fight reaches the fifth round, then Shogun will need to be sure to push the action as much as he can

yea i agree and exactly how i felt

i was bouncing about when the fight was over expecting shoguns hand to be raised

man i was shocked and pissed off after

WEC was very good watch once again

and my prediction on Nelsons next opponent was on the button :)

Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Season 10 Champion Roy Nelson (15-4) will continue his climb up the ranks of the UFC heavyweight division against yet another hard-hitting striker when he tangles with Cheick Kongo at UFC 116 on July 3 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"Big Country" confirmed an earlier report by Fighter's Only through his official Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Congo will just get taken down and beat just like the Velásquez fight because he is shite on the ground

Just watching WEC now. Garcia v Sung-Jung is possibly the best fight I've ever seen! :APPLAUD:

Best prelim card ever, I can't see that being beaten.
