Matt Hughes is one of, if not the biggest dick in the sport.

All the welterweight partners at AKA (American Kickbox Acadamy) Jon Fitch, Josh Koscheck and Mike Swick have challenged Hughes for the past 18 months, and he keeps saying they are not at his level, how he is above being in the ring with them etc.

They know he's ducking him, so keep repeatedly calling him out! Quite funny really!

EDIT: Hathaway vs Talor is free and live on Telegraph website: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/...ufc-taylor-hathaway-live-on-telegraph-player/

there are two sides to hughes

i watched him become champion and retained his title for a very long time (at the time he was the best)

he came across as not arrogant and always spoke highly of his opponents

something changed and i think it came to light on the TUF's and especially with GSP

i dislike him myself now, did himself no favours there

I haven't been on here much and I just got caught up. Great matches being discussed, and glad a few of you are going back and watching the best TUF seasons. They do kill the challenges after they were pretty harmful in the 2nd season. It was way more about it being a reality game show instead of a "fighting" show. Glad they made the adjustments.

Another thing in the early seasons, there seemed to be a lot more pussies and injuries. It's rare these days that people would blow the opportunity.

The Don Frye vs (I can't remember, but a japanese guy) in pride was considered the more entertaining brawling match for MANY years. Until the Griffen v Bonner match happened.

IMO the sport has changed a bit too much with USA(UFC) becoming the top of the game. When Pride and UFC were competing they had close to equal talent, but Pride put on WAAAY more entertaining fights. There would be freakshow matches (185lbs guys vs 350+ lbs guys) and there were squash matches to display how awesome a fighter is. They built up fighters and made it so when there was a big time match up....it was a HUGE deal. But you still had guys like Cro Cop fighting a judo guy and kicking his head off...just for our pleasure. And there would be like 10 fights on the pay per views. UFC right now is all about making 5 matchups that will definitely be televised that are all for title contention. Screw that, I wanna see Anderson Silva destroy people in the clinch as often as I can. Not just a built up title shot every 4-6 months. The UFC would never have a fight like Sakuraba's last fight. Because if he doesn't get the tap there and loses...then he drops lower on the card and makes less money. But the fights like those where he takes tons of punishment as a risk just to get the tap and please the crowd is LEGENDARY!! That element has left the sport in the UFC. It's more that than eliminating soccer kicks to the head(which was fun to watch). And the reasoning Pride took out elbows was because is caused too many cuts that would end fights. And no one wants to see a fight end because of an elbow. My initial reason I didn't like Florian. His goal was to cut a guy open to end the fight. Ask Alex Karalexis. He has changed a lot since then, but i saw a massive difference in the mentality of the sport from US to Japan.

I personally think the UFC should reward guys like Guida, Paul Taylor, Marcus Davis win or lose...and they might be based on locker room bonuses. But give us more fights like that. It's gotten to the point where the fight nights are usually more entertaining than the PPVs...despite the lesser talent.

Also, in Pride check out the Bushito matches. Most fighters are now in Dream I think. But there tournaments were VERY entertaining. Names like Kawajiri, Gomi, Yves Edwards, Crazy Horse, Joaquim Hansen, Aoki, Ishida, Sakurai....etc. If they are really collaborating with Strikeforce that could be fun. The Strikeforce card was very good, and all entertaining fights. Well done strikeforce. I don't think they can do much better than that. BTW a Rogers v Fedor rematch is retarded, and I have no clue why the interviewer asked that right after the fight. He lost, there was no controversy....why would he get an immediate rematch? It likely will be Verdum or Overeem. Which will be good...both Pride guys btw. I haven't watched Overeem much since he was a heavyweight. He used to have skinny arms that would allow for unstopable gulletine chokes. But he never seemed to be much more than a one trick pony. Verdum I think poses more of a threat, but shouldn't be a factor on the feet. Could be an interesting ground war if it gets there.

How has no one mentioned Jason "Mayhem" Miller. What an amazing entrance lol, and a hell of a fight. He did awesome. Really won me over as a fan.

Sorry for the essay, had a lot to say.

p.s. havent watched TUF since the fights started getting good :( I'll watch the marathon before the Finale.

Jason Miller pissed me off really, he just came across as that annoying kid in school that acted like an idiot to get everyone to like him.

Glad to hear the challenges stop in TUF after S2 tho, I'm just getting to the end of that season now.

I'm setting off soon to watch 105 live and will be posting some videos after if my phones battery holds up

UFC 105

How gutted did Rogan sound when Winner hit that finisher?! :LMAO: Superb punch!

Good work by Pearson as well, fought really well and looked like a veteran!

GET IN BISPING!! :BOP: Superb takedowns! And got superb ground defense as well, awesome! :APPLAUD: Felt really happy for him when he was being interviewed and the way he conducted himself :)

What a punch by Gustafsson as well!

Brilliant show so far :D

UFC 105:

Pearson v Riley

Wow, Pearson is the real deal! Very impressive muay thai. Awesome striking in general too. Riley never looked dangerous. Delighted for Pearson

Winner v Delgado

 Amazing speed in the punches. That's all he needed, boom, lights out.

Bisping v Kang

Good fight, Kang rocked him in the first round but then didn't capitalise on it and Bisping made him pay big style in the second. Great heart and good show.

Gustafsson v Hamman

:LMAO: Touch gloves to say sorry for slightly poking him in the eye, then BOOM fuck right off, smashed his face in!

Hardy v Swick

Hmm, good fight, but Hardy should have finished Swick at least twice. He had him rocked badly, but decided to try and go for a takedown up against the fence, wtf? Can't see him beating GSP at all. Be interesting to see the fight though.

Couture v Vera

Bit shit to be honest. Couture just did the MMA equivalent of playing 5 at the back in football! It might be effective to wear fighers down, but it's boring as fuck to watch for 15 mins. I had it 29-28 for Vera. That's a bullshit judges scores, Couture only won because of who he is.

If you haven't noticed its the whole scoring system that is flawed. Honestly, Vera dominated the 2nd round and won in no doubt. I thought Couture probably won a close 3rd...and the 1st was a coin toss cause nothing happened. I thought they'd end up giving it to Vera because he no doubt beat Couture in this fight AS A WHOLE. But breaking it down round by round really left for subjectivity...which should not enter into a sporting result IMO.

Andre Winner vs. Roli Delgado
Winner was my favorite fighter by far in the past TUF. So glad he got to show people what he is made of. One of the more dangerous punchers I've seen in a long time. Wish he showed up vs Pearson...should have been a much better fight.

Alexander Gustafsson vs. Jared Hamman
Great knockout..enough said

Paul Kelly vs. Dennis Siver
Not Televised in US

Matt Riddle vs. Nick Osipczak
Not Televised in US...and was looking forward to this match-up

Terry Etim vs. Shannon Gugerty
Not Televised in US

Paul Taylor vs. John Hathaway
Not Televised in US

Ross Pearson vs. Aaron Riley
Pearson looks like the real deal. I could see him losing a fight on points, but I have a hard time picturing someone actually hurting him. If he continues to improve he could be pretty scary.

James Wilks vs. Matt Brown
I wonder if the brits were looking forward to this match as much as I was. I thought this was a hell of a fight. Really had everything. Brown's striking was pinpoint on the night, but still has troubles finishing an groggy opponent, its like me in the UFC PS3 game  But Wilks has a ton of heart and skill and almost stole the fight. I think Wilks will be a warrior gate keeper in the UFC for years. And Matt Brown will be an entertaining fighter, but doubt he has the whole package to be a true contender. But definitely my favorite fight...and not just because an American won

Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang
Which one was the black belt in ju-jitsu  OKay, lets ignore Kang hurt Bisping to get him down in the 1st. The rest of the 1st round with Bisping on his back and Kang working positioning on the top was a masterpiece in technical ground fighting. A pleasure to watch, and even though Bisping lost that round he showed a lot of skill. Too bad with the positions were swapped in the 2nd it wasn't as entertaining  Bisping hurt him, and Kang looked like a fish out of water. He must of been rocked because I saw NO ju-jitsu from his back. Good fight for Bisping. To me he did come across not as classy, but as a bit of a whinner. Aww...he wants more respect. Come on, no bitching about respect. Just makes me want to hate him. He fought a good fight and should have left it at that.

Mike Swick vs. Dan Hardy
Don't know if Hardy is a rock star in the UK, but he comes across as a total heel over here in interviews. Cocky, Arrogent and disrespectful. The perfect making of a good heel. Koscheck should take notes  I would have liked to see Swick kicked his ass, but he definitely got beaten. I don't think he was as rocked as Rogan was trying to make it seem in the broadcast. I don't think Swick was "rocked" cause Hardy would have pounced. Swick just couldn't match Hardy's power, and Hardy was able to match Swicks speed. Both would get killed by GSP...and I don't even like GSP.

Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera
Snooze fest. I got teased too, because they showed the Gonzaga match right before the show. In that match Couture was AWESOME. But tonight it was just a poor matchup to be honest. It's what you'd expect. Vera did a good job when he had space, and was handcuffed most of the match up against the space. I stated the rest of my thoughts above.

Echo alot of thoughts but i also judged Couture 29-28 from a pretty good view at the MEN

After the Shogun bullshit, I read up on the scoring, and the key moment of round 3 for me (tied 1-1 thus far IMO) was when Vera had full mount butdy got out in seconds to his feet. That is effective grapplnig from randy, and octogan control. It isnt those 2 things from Vera, so could see why the judges viewed that exchange heavily for Randy. Everything else in round 3 was even, bar Randy getting a few "dirty" uppercuts more in

good post, your talking about the Don Frye vs Yoshihiro Takayama fight. BTW Overeem has huge arms now, the guy has been on the gas no doubt so whenever he decides to fight back in the states he is gonna have to cycle off.

Does anyone else here actually watch K-1/Dream fights. Seems like it is UFC only that anyone is really bothered about which is a shame.

You hear about Sengoku cancelling there NYE show and now working with K-1 instead. Looks like Sengoku will be on the way out so K-1/Dream will be the only major promotion in Japan.

The Japanese MMA scene has been going downhill since Pride collapsed. K-1 is the only promotion that is really making any money.

Quality has decreased on all these but you get the idea and you get to see Bruce Buffers 180 turn which he does for the main events which people responded to as well (especially the last fight)

how much were your tickets? and could you see what the fighters were doing, i.e BJJ or did you have to rely on the big screens from your position?

£75

We could see right into the Octagon so if they were facing us we could see the BJJ yeah, we couldn't see much when Couture had Vera up against the cage for 3 rounds thought but i doubt anyone could unless you were ringside, there was no problems with the stand up at all

It was a very good view of it all the camera doesn't do it much justice, ill try and get a better picture which my mate took on a proper one

I have no idea when Dream events are aired?

There not. You have to watch them on the net as no TV channel picks them up. Eurosport use to show some K-1 Heroes stuff but now it seems they are only focused on K-1 Kickboxing.

Bravo should pick it up as they could just use the American HDNet feed.

Nice work Coopz! I'll definitely go to the next London one! Hopefully the O2.

Yeah its awesome live i would recommend it to everyone

also they should go to bigger Venues because they would sell alot more than 16'000

MANCHESTER, England – With the distinction of being one of the top-10 greatest first-day ticket selling events of all time already bestowed upon "UFC 105: Couture vs. Vera," Saturday night's event earned another place in the UFC history books.

With 16,693 spectators packed into Manchester Evening News Arena, UFC 105 became the highest-attended European event in the history of the UFC.

and as for the next UK event

The UFC's U.K. division president Marshall Zelaznik said a specific date has not been determined for the UFC's return to the U.K., but spring 2010 looked likely.

"It's likely to be second quarter (of 2010) is my best guess right now," Zelaznik said.

Good vids, Coopz :TU:

The Bisping atmosphere was electric on the ESPN feed, I can only imagine how it must've felt at the arena itself.

The times during the fight when Bisping got control and the stadium erupted ... Gave me goosebumps! I literally jumped out of my chair when Bisping won  I'm sure that was down to the atmosphere pumping it all up and it really got me :)

With regards to other organisations like Strikeforce, if they had events that were shown on US TV and are available for download then I'd definately watch them. It's just that UFC has become so big now that it's always available after a big event and that's how it's caught on so much I think.

Next is apparantly Nottingham. Should have been where Hardy GSP is, but Dana says its probably in Vegas

And yes UFc live is the nuts, that was my third show, and you always get value. Ozipczak vs Riddle was a brilliant fight, and you could hear Sivers kick all around the arena. Stiff as hell
