Microsoft Xbox 360

Hopefully not if its as shite as it seems! I have got the PSP version (Just Called NASCAR) and thats decent enough for a PSP game.

Any idea how much the 360 Premium retailed at in USA? Then we could guess at a UK price.

been hearing rumors that there gonna cut the price in half of the ps3 in the states in May...

Funk, I cant quite believe that, the full 60Gb model or the 20 Gb model? I think there would be uproar from Europe, who already pay more than anywhere else, and a price cut would never happen in Europe that early.

Xbox 360 Elite now official
HD nerds and Xbox fanboys, the moment you've been waiting for: the Xbox 360 Elite we alerted you about way back when it was just called the Zephyr has finally been announced. As we previously mentioned, it will be black, it will have HDMI, and it will have a 120GB drive (it'll also come bundled with a one month Xbox Live trial) for $479. Unfortunately, also as mentioned before, it's not going to have the new 65nm CPUs, it still doesn't have integrated WiFi (Xbox said it's because a study showed the majority of their customers use Ethernet to connect -- huh?), and it won't have an integrated HD DVD drive (not that we expected otherwise). Microsoft did make some marketing decisions since our sources spilled the beans on this thing though: it's not going to be limited edition, as we previously had. Instead, the Elite will be a permanent SKU, the third and top-tier Xbox device. On the solo 120GB drive side of things, that unit will cost $179, and will come with a cable and software to migrate from your old 20GB drive. (MSFT wasn't yet sure if that kit would be sold separately for new Elite users -- sounds like it will be though, and will be priced very reasonably.) More info:

* The console will come with component and composite cables, as well as an HDMI cable. (Take that, Sony and Apple!)
* The console will come with a black wireless controller and black (wired) headset.
* Sorry, the new black controller still doesn't have backlit buttons -- don't let the pic fool you.
* The black controller, black rechargeable batteries, and black headset will all be available in retail for the same price as the white gear.
* The HD DVD drive will not be released in black.
* Xbox didn't know what HDMI version the Elite uses, nor whether it supports PCM 5.1, TrueHD, etc.; it will obviously support 1080p, though.
* Sorry, no price cuts on the Premium or Core packs.
* Xbox Live Marketplace will also begin vending content from New Line (and its properties).

It's out April 29th, people. Ready for your second Xbox? No? Well, it's still cheaper than that other black game console.

this is what i want to know.
will current 360 owners:
a)stick with there white 360
b)buy the new 360
c)buy a wii
d)buy a ps3
not trying to start anything here. just wanting to kno other ppls thoughts.

a) and d) as soon as the price drops :)

oh and of course i need to get some black controllers :D

Fair play to Microsoft - a good response to keep the interest in the 360 and to take the limelight away from Nintendo and Sony. Calling it the "Elite" edition is a bit corny though - we gamers don't all use "1337" languages you know! :D

The more I think about it, the more I must be fucking insane to buy the same console I've already got purely for a HDMI connection. For a start, my TV only has one HDMI input anyway, and secondly, for that much money, I'd rather have a totally different console to play totally different games on. Plus, the difference between VGA and HDMI really isn't that big. I can see the creases on the old players' foreheads in UEFA Champions League, so that's good enough for me.

So no, I won't be getting it, especially seeing as current 360 owners don't get any kind of discount. I'd rather wait until either the PS3 or Wii's price plummets and grab one of those.

The latest Rumors are that Microsoft are Buying Take Two and GTA4 will be XBOX 360 exclusive (Doubt it).
I believe their is more than owning Take Two to owning GTA however look at these two sites.

The PS3 version is not mentioned anywhere and they are supposed to be released at the same time aren't they.

Their was a big announcement (Lol turned out to be the Elite)last night at midnight and another tonight ppl are saying it could be the GTA 4 news.

But it would be huge for the 360.
GTA 3 sold more PS2's than anything Sony did and if it was exclusive to Microsoft the Elite would sell millions overnight and the PS3 would be screwed for a while anyway everywhere outside Japan.

I would be very surprised if it turned out to be true - GTA is such a title that it'll bound to sell a few million consoles.

The more I think about it, the more it seems that Microsoft are making a mistake with the Elite version.

It'll be £349 and you'll get 120GB, HDMI and it'll be black. There'll prob be a few XBox 360 owners that will sell their current consoles to buy the Elite version. When it comes down to it, they could instead pay £50 or so extra and get a console that has wireless built in (let alone a Blu-Ray drive for movies).

Microsoft shooting themselves in the foot? The Elite suddenly makes the PS3 more attractive. This would however be a different case if the Elite version costs the same as what a Premium version does now...

EDIT: Here's the article which says that the Elite will cost £349

Was thinking the same rockabir, if its $479 that will be the euro price aswell, meaning for an extra 120e and hopefully less in a few months if the price goes down, you can get a ps3 with 60gb, wireless, hdmi, memorycard slots and a blu-ray player. Whats the point? To awnser the question earlier, a and d (when/if there are better games/ports available and the price has come down a bit).

It is the Harddrive that is being totally overpriced $170 for that alone which is what everyone wants. Saying that tho its still only $70 for 100Gb more as the 20Gb was $100
But over here it is still only $79 more for the Elite than the premium version.

$479 still looks better than the scary $599 for a PS3 with no games at the mo.

I'll probably get the Elite and then finally mod my current X360. I dont know what it is with me but I just HAVE to have these things when they're released.

With HDMI, I can't imagine there being any other reason for getting it other than for watching hi-def movies which require HDCP compliant connections (in the near future). I would prob stick with the premium pack if HD-DVD ain't your thing.

Outta interest, how many peeps round here use wireless?

Wireless what?

I use one wireless pad (and two wired) and a wireless headset, but I don't use the wireless adapter (the router is right next to the 360).

HAHAHA!! :lmao:

Perhaps he means it's his baby as in "I thought of this money-spinning idea of selling the same console twice for full-price and I can't wait to see how much money I make from it"...

I have to agree with Rocky, and a few others, I think it's a SKU too far....... it will totally appeal to hard core gamers, I will stick with my White one, till it dies anyhow, or if it was a worth trading in for the new Black SKU, my only problem, game saves, but then I guess I could get some MadCatz thing to stick them on my PC till I got the new one home. But I would be a and d from above, but only when the PS3 drops in price to something far more reasonable.
