Jeez, Some of you guys are really having an awful time with your consoles.:(

Mind you, My machine will be 1 year old next month, So after watching "watchdog" last night, It will no doubt pack in after the 12 months are up.

:lmao:

That's pretty poor. Is this a known problem of the 360. It sounds like an XBox version of the PS2's notorious 'disk read error'.

OK rumored to come out may 1st is the black 360 with a 120 gb harddrive and hdni port for a price of 479.99. retailers are stating to have this unit as a sku nmber now along with price and description so i guess it's true but not official

It is. :) I think that's abot $80 more than usual, so I think it will be around £324.99-£349.99 in the UK (if it actually comes out).

If it's black, has a 120GB hard drive, HDMI and built in wi-fi, I think that's a good deal.

i think they should put a hd dvd drive in the 360 instead of buying it separately
They should have done that from the start if they could. However then it would jack the price of the console up just like the PS3 has been due to the new technology....

I'm just thinkng about the fact that if you want your 360 to be able to play HD movies, then your spending basically exactly the same money as on the PS3

And with the Xbox you have to buy all the wireless stuff separately. I'm not defending the PS3 though, because I think it will be crap until some real games start coming out.

Does anybody with a wireless pad know what it means when the XBOX button starts flashing in a "nuclear" symbol kind-of pattern (top-left [1] and bottom-right [4] segments light up, then top-right [2] and bottom-left [3], repeating continuously)?

I'm assuming it means either low battery or low signal, but the battery guage is on 3/4 and I'm sitting two feet away from the 360... :eh:

jambotommy, you can still take out the extra two years warranty from MS for £60 :)

I know mate, but I had to open my machine to "clean" it.

Would they fix a machine with a broken seal?

Or just arrest me, Throw the key away, then get Bill Gates to light touch paper between my toes???

if im honest kamy100 I dont think the new version will materialize. According to MS its just an 'experiment' that they are doing in Redmond and no further info is available yet. I think they are just dropping the price in readiness for the PS3 Euro Launch...

You may well be right, however looking at the direction that MS have been recently heading with Live with the launch of digital content such as TV programmes etc it becomes inevitable that they will need to release a larger storage device, now maybe they will just simply release an expanded hard drive or maybe they will release this "new" version or it could be that they do both. I have to say that if they do release a newer version and it could be a mistake as people may decide to rather than upgrade to the newer version they will upgrade to a PS3. Anyhow if I would expect that IF they are going to do a new version to be released on 1st May then an announcement should be made at GDC.

A hard drive upgrade may be available if enough demand is expressed for it.... thats another thing I read from the very same article...

I wouldnt expect a new version of the 360 but a HDD Upgrade is more than possible.

The price reduction of the 360 on Play.com could be because of the PS3 coming out next month, could it not (to shift stock and make room for what they think is going to be the biggest selling console)?

I hope so anyway, no way could I afford a console that I've already got but with a HDMI port in the back.

With the HDD becoming a necessity, the Core version can't be seen as the basic essentials package anymore. I think it is likely that the new HDMI+120GB 360 will come out - and that there will be two packages: Premium (usual 20GB) and Platinum (HDMI+120GB).

However, I can't say that the "Platinum" 360 will be a necessary purchase for 360 gaming (unlike the Premium).

If this ever happens I personally will just buy an Up-rated Hard Drive. Especially if this IPTV service which XBox Live will provide is any good.
