Master League Adventures and other ML stuff 2011!

Hmmmm, you might be right, my fanbase is 90000+.

I can't be bothered starting all over again for that reason. And I'm not one for going mad with transfers anyway and acquiring Messi's, Ronaldos and Kaka's from around the world, I prefer buying my little unknown players, favourite players or bringing through youth, so I'll just put all the money really into the staff costs.

I'm currently sitting top of the league, was 4 points clear but a loss to teh 2nd place team (not the one I had posted the other day, got mixed up with the teams) has brought me back closer to the chasing pack.

Mphela our forward has been banging in the goals, although I am only winning by the odd goal, did manage to knock out Olympiacos at their own ground 2-0 in the Last 16 of the cup and now face off against AEK Athens in the QF.

Have also landed Sokratis. Therefore come the January window I'll be bringing in 2 youth players Palmieri (CB/SW) and Schmitz (think that's the name, Germany lad, CB/SW), Sokratis, Koustalanakis, Muslimovic. Also like Agata from previous versions, I usually edit his age and nationality (always had him as Portugese for some reason), so I've re-created him as I had forgot to edit his age prior to starting the game. So I'll try and buy him and that'll be my forward line complete.

In reference to editing after ML, I don't think names can be changed, actually I'm not sure what does change. Haven't tried hairstyles, think boots may have changed (sure I changed Tziolios boots to white). I tried editing Mphelas celebration to get some sort of African dance theme to it, but never noticed him scoring and celebrating in such a manner (I did edit after the ML had started).

Also I noticed something that nearly had me pulling out my hair. I noticed from my team line strange names, but on checking it I had saw that all the players I had edited throughout the game (name changes) had been reset, although club names etc were still changed. I thought that was me buggered, but what I did was jump out the game, and went and reloaded my option file, then reloaded my ML game, that seem to sort it. Phew!

FD

me again, it has nothin to do with my edit or the d2 league team

no matter what the stock ml players are always the same awareness
e.g. stremer S/OFF LOL

noone noticed ?
its unplayable like that
not a single CB with DEF
:FAIL:

FD, player names and appearances (height, hairstyle, boots, shirt etc) have always been editable in PES, after you have started a ML. I know because i have always updated my OFs as the year went on. I've already changed player boots for example. You can't however change a stat and expect it to change in your current ML, only in a new ML.

My starting eleven?
I rotate a lot, but i have a few certainties: El Moubarki, Ordaz, Castolo, Dodo and Valeny.
I started with a 4-4-2 formation, but now i'm playing more and more 4-3-3 with Ordaz, Castolo and Gutierrez upfront. In the middle i have Dodo, Ximelez and Vandenberg or Espimas
At the back: Stein, Valeny, El Moubarki and Ruskino or Stremer.

Interesting choices. I personally play a 4-5-1 in the following manner:
--El Moubarki--Baumann---Stremer----Ruskin
-------------Dodo----------Jaric
------Castolo-------Minanda------Ximelez
-------------------Gutierrez

I don't know if the DMFs in 2011 are just weaker than they were in 2010 or if it's just an adjustment in the overall rating calculation but they seem to be the biggest weakness. Also compared to 2010, I find it much easier to attack and much more difficult to defend. In past PES games it was always tough to play with a bad team because long passes didn't seem to work that well so you had to try to really build up play like a good team. Now I can still do that but also have the option to hoof it up to Gutierrez (which I usually do with a hard pass on the ground rather than a high ball) or hit long balls into the corners for Castolo and Ximelez to run onto.

I can't defend at all though! I play on top player, and I'm starting to get the hang of this new defensive system rather than just holding X but it seems like my defenders just always take poor angles when I press, especially in the box. If I don't press, CPU gets a shot off easily. If I do press, every once in awhile I can dispossess or deflect a shot but a lot of the time it just pulls my defender out of position and leaves an open shot at goal.

Any tips on how to defend with this bunch?

Started a ML with the default players on top player.. Created my own stadium, made the smallest one u can make to start off with) and then made the QPR kit etc.. Took me 5 games to score a goal, lol even tho dominating most games.. biggest win so far was against Fulham in the FA Cup, won 1-0 somehow & now I'm in the quarters against Aston Villa!!
So currently I'm in a rich vain of form, won my last 3 games & the boys are starting to click! Picked up shimuzi from the youth team who is playing well to!
Hopefully can keep it going!!

A.S Ganzoraccio News

Meh, i'm currently eleventh in the league, eleven points off third place, with about twelve games left to play this season. Things aren't looking good for promotion, unless i put a very good run together soon. I know i shouldn't be expecting promotion, but i'm desperate to test myself against Serie A clubs.

I've been playing a 4-5-1, but recently changed to a 4-4-2 (diamond midfield) in my last game, with Minanda behind two strikers. Surprisingly i got my best victory from it so far, a 3-0 win. Dodo scored the third, from a CMF position.

I had one really frustrating game recently where i hit the post three times, amongst other efforts on goal, then went a goal behind. I think i eventually drew that one 1-1.

A note to FD/gerd. You can still allocate stadiums in edit mode (outside ML) and it will update in your ML (amazing as this was not possible in PS2 days). So if you're tired of a lot of teams playing at the same stadium, just take a minute to allocate alternative ones.

Thanks Prof...
I really like Dodo, but (like a lot of default players) he seems to miss strength and stamina after 75 minutes...i always outclass the opponents the first 75 minutes (roughly) and at the end of the match my players seem very, very tired and then i have a hard time. I usually end up winning, but it's a strange difference with the first 75 minutes of the match.

Gerd, that was Dodo's first (and only, so far) goal of the season. I had him in a deep DMF role before, so not much chance in getting forward. On this occasion, however, he was on the flank of a diamond midfield.

Db, i can't speak for PS3 (not sure who might have mentioned you can buy them) but you can't on the 360. You have to scout before your ML and transfer potential buys into club teams. I used the D2/PES League for this.

I would also prefer that, but on the other hand it is rather irrealistic since you could acquire these players for a Bosman...which is almost never te case for really good players (which most national team players are).

thanks mate!

what a shame - still from what youve said if start with preston in div 2 with the prem as div 1 could this still be achieved?

i realised that i couldnt recruit from the Copa L but be nice to invite a few uzbeks to deepdale :)

Sure, just transfer some of the Uzbeks to teams in the 'PES League' before you start your ML. They're made up teams anyway. Unless your OF has them overwritten. In any case, the com buys players, so squads will change from the start.

Really stupid why the removed this, why not have them in the 'other' area that they used to have.

FD

I'm guessing Konami have done this for one of these reasons, or both.

a) it doesn't fit into their new look ML, whereby all clubs are now included in the ML. You have to scout the player at the club and negotiate with the clubs etc

b) to stop duplicates appearing in ML.

FD

I think's it's still in but you need to set 'classic' players to be on.

So yes you can buy players without a club but stupidly all the classic players become available

Something needs to be done about the transfers though. Not sure what's happeend!

I did a small test between PES 2010 and PES 2011. The availability for players seems about the same which is good! but the transfer fees are no more than the players wages :CONFUSE:

I used Real Madrid to test both games out and in both games went to buy Robben (as a test)

In PES 2010 i successful brought him, for 33 million pounds (realistic value)

Also brought Zhirkov fro 20 million and Forlan for 17 million!

In PES 2011 i brought him for, wait for it... 7 million :CONFUSE:

Also i brought Ibrahimovic for 13 million!

Now the problem is pretty simple! In PES 2010 i worked out that the CPU had programmed the game to present transfer fees realistically by working out the transfer fee multiplying the players wages by 6. It wasn't set in stone though, if a player was transfer listed (desperate to leave etc.. it would sometimes only be multiplied b 3 or 2 which again showed very realsitic results!

So in PES 2010, Robbens wages were 5,6 million something, multiplied by 6 it worked out to 33 million, with a bit more added to it)

In PES 2011, i dunno, it's like the transfer fee is the wages multiplied by 1.3 or something very small, and it fluctuates depending on the players age, situation but it's far too small!

I find this bizarre, very bizarre! Should be easily fixed by a patch though, i hope Konami are aware!

Strangely i don't find this a game killer since everything else is, fabulous :WORSHIP: i even enjoy the mad transfers.

I've mentioned the stupid transfer fees in the discussion thread before. Try starting as a really low team and you'll see even worse things. Choose a really weak dutch team for example, start a ML, go to negotiations and search all players and rank them by transfer value. Ronaldo or Messi will be worth about £1.5m, ridiculous.

It seems the worse a team you start with, the lower everyone's market value will be. Values should be much higher and also not change depending who you start a ML with! Tried to make John Murphy aware on twitter but no reply.

I'm not gonna buy any well known players.. Gonna try & win it all with the default team and my youth players, should be a good challenge!

Ok, thanks Prof.
Pro Vercelli are still second in Serie B. It looks as though 4 clubs will compete for promotion (1 Boca Juniors 2 Pro Vercelli 3 Ascoli 4 Atalanta).
Had a bad home leg in the quarter finals of the Coppa: a 0-1 loss...although the outcome was disappointing, it was great fun to play this match. Udinese scored after a corner and afterwards Pro Vercelli missed chance after chance...Handanovic played a great match for Udinese...i can still win in Udine..

Regarding high starting money, thanks to mfmaxpower who found the below at http://www.pesgaming.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=234 and posted in discussion thread. Thought it should be in this thread too.

I'd like to share some information that will probably impact how one uses this option file (and option files in general). The situation is this: Any team that has had it's "Team Name", "Emblem" or "Stadium" altered will be given quite a financial boost at the start of it's Master League campaign. For example, the default PES United (assuming a Division 2 placement) begins with a budget of approximately $3,000,000, a fan club base of around 5000 members, and an appropriately crappy 170 ranking. Change PES United's team name, emblem or stadium before beginning Master League, however, and it will begin with about $35,000,000 in budget, 70000 fan club members, a much higher ranking and a superior coaching staff - even in Division 2 with the default squad chosen. Here are some other examples of "edit boosts":

Default Palermo (Xavrenaguel): [~$40,000,000] [75,000 fcm]
Edited Palermo: [~$70,000,000] [95,000 fcm]

Default Hercules (Hecioguel): [~$15,000,000] [27,000 fcm]
Edited Hercules: [~$45,000,000] [75,000 fcm]

Default Stoke City (The Potteries): [~$19,000,000] [36,000 fcm]
Edited Stoke City: [$66,000,000] [95,000 fcm]

Quite a difference and fairly annoying if you A. Want the most challenging possible start to your ML, and B. Don't want the other low or mid level teams in your ML (the top level teams don't seem to have their starts boosted by the relevant edits, interestingly enough) to be given such advanced financial starts of their own. Luckily, there is a workaround for those who wish to begin with an edited team's "default" starting position:

1. With your finalized "edit data" configuration (e.g option file and any changes made) in place, load up the game.

2. Change your team's "Team Name", "Emblem" and "Home Ground" to their defaults (green triangle). If you wish, do the same for any other team that has had at least one of these fields edited.

3. Back out of the edit screen but do not save the edit data when prompted.

4. Begin your Master League with your chosen team (the newly default version, obviously) and save your progress at the first opportunity.

5. Reload the game or back out to the top menu and load your edit data file.

6. Load your ML save. Voila! You'll return to your saved starting position but with your edited team name, emblem, etc. back in place

Works perfectly, finances, staff levels, fan club, sponsorship and youth team investment will all revert to low default levels.
Just to add, if you have edited players there is no need to set them back to default, only things that need defaulting are things in the team edit screen.

It's ridiculous we have to do this though, isn't it. Why don't Konami just add a 'market value' setting that you can choose. eg normal, hard etc.

Anyhoo. I'm slowly giving up on my hopes of promotion. I just seem to create a lot of chances in a match, sometimes go ahead, but then my defence has a lapse and i either draw or loose. I think i have won as many as i have lost.

I had another stand-off last night, 0-0 for 89 mins, then finally Celso Borges has a crack from outside the box when he's allowed time and space and he buries it. Phew, a 1-0 win, but boy was it hard work.
The game previous was a stalemate, but in extra time i almost win it. Guiterrez makes space for himself just outside the box, takes it past a defender across the outside of the box, fires a good shot in, beats the keeper, but it richochets off the upright and the final whistle blows. Aaargh!

Just a quick newbie question, I've scouted a couple of players and still can't see their stats... all I have now is the option to negotiate to sign them? Is this right?
Also, can you cancel a transfer at the last minute?
Just wanted to ask these questions now before I go any further with buying players.

You have to wait for your scout to come back with further reports ie with the player's stats. You will eventually see them. Yes, you can negotitate with them before seeing the stats, but best to wait if you're not in a rush.

Pro Vercelli are top of the table in Serie B.
Neighbours Torino beat Boca Juniors and Pro Vercelli had a 2-0 win against Livorno.
The next match was something rather special for me (i play on Professional level which usually is hard enough for me). In the match against Atalanta, Pro Vercelli's first attack was a goal and after that it all becale very easy. After 45 minutes it was 3-0 and at the end of the match 7-0, 3 goals from Minanda and two from Ordaz. The unsung hero of this team is Stein however. What a great defender this litle guy is. He has splendid anticipation and has great defensive skills. His ratings are always 7, 7,5 or 8...and the game sees this very well.

In the other thread about PES2011 people were saying that the default bunch is too weak. I don't agreewith that: Dodo, El Moubarki, Stein, Minanda and Ordaz are IMO all very good.

I've started Master League again. Just a random notion from today, I've had the entire morning & afternoon on the game and felt a bit daft.

The only option file I've got on my game is the first WENB one for 020. Since then I've made numerous edits to attributes, appearances and teams. Many more of which were done today, including editing players and teams in the D2 league. I've also made changes to pretty much every team in the main 3 leagues, taking into account the stuff posted at JustPES (thanks!) to make teams play more realistically. Got some comedy teams in D2 now, the best of which being Big Mac Rovers whose kit sponsor is a fabulously horrid big "M" with "I'm lovin' it", all strewn sickly over a black & yellow kit. Really hope they make it to the Premiership in Season 2, especially with such players as James McFlurry and Wes Hash-Brown (base-copied & edited).

If they don't get promoted, I may have to take charge myself.
