Master League Adventures and other ML stuff 2011!

I started a new ML earlier with Alkhens Championship OF and it has vastly improved it. Playing in the original div2 I was 3 points off the top 3 games into the second half of the season and had let in just 5 goals. It was far to easy.
Played 3 games with the new OF and lost all 3! Got beat 1 - 0 at Middlesborough, 0 - 1 by Millwall (late, late winner, bastards) and went to Derby and went 1 up only for them to come back and win 2 - 1. The teams pressure you and rush you into passes and when you get into their half make it pretty hard to keep possession. In the original div 2 I constantly had around 65% possession, in the Championship its probably closer to 50%.

If you are finding it a bit easy I would recommend you get the Championship OF and start over, its worth it.

Stupid Konami with their different versions, all of the UK are playing 020, all of Europe get 022 and the Nordic countries and Holland get 021 which no one gives a crap about and so we're hardly getting any option files. Seriously, what's the point in that 021 version? :((
 
Question on the ML.

Have just started a game, now I notice that my Youth Team is greyed out? Does this just mean that I happen to have no Youth Team players? Seems a bit bizarre because I had looked at a couple of things in ML before starting it up properly and just went random teams and I always had Youth Players. Now when I goto the Youth Team Option (Investements) it is just greyed out.

Does that mean I have no players come through then?

I also noticed on the settings for the player development that it said "Off", I was sure I had chosen standard (over dynamic). Would that have an effect? And also does that mean I've switched off the development of players and maybe I just thought I had chosen standard (not the I can even remember an off setting for this)?

Not sure FD. If you selected no development, i guess that also means their ages stay the same? (i think it used to mean that). So i guess you won't get any youth coming through. Otherwise you should see a team's worth of youth players.

I'm flying high in my NAC Breda ML, currently (joint) top of the Eredivisie (to my surprise) with AZ and others (November). I did lose to Excelsior 1-0 in the cup though.
Ajax are having a stinker of a season (they're way down the league). We're looking good for European football next season so far. Early days though.

Just seems a bit strange as the past few ML teams I had started to look at always had a few players each time. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Well guess my match report will just need to wait till I see what happens.

Oh and on the ML stuff, quite good that you can edit the club emblems, entrance music etc. And love the touch of the competition badges that can be added to the strips automatically.

Prof, can you name a few NAC players...it is possible that in a couple of weeks i will have to go to NAC for my work...they have won a prize for a community project and i will do a feature of it in a magazine i write for...
 
Sure gerd, Amoah, Lurling, Leonardo, Penders, ten Rouwelaar, Horvath, Snoyl, Gorter, Luijckx, Loran, Kolkka, Feher, Gudelj are a few names.

My trident attack is Lurling, Amoah (CF) and Leonardo. I'm no expert on the feints/skills, but i do the odd thing with Leonardo and Lurling to beat a full back. It's much nicer to do this in the new PES.

Before starting my ML i was playing exhibition matches with NAC and i scored (and saved) a superb volley with midfielder Luijckx. It's a contender so far for my best PES2011 goal. Essentially a dipping volley over the keeper, who was just far out enough off his line. Corner, headed clearance, Luijckx volleys it as it comes down and it dips over the keeper, back of the net bulges, sweet.

I also saved a nice dribble into the box with my RB Feher. He beat a few players, got closed down stumbled a bit but managed to shoot, but it came off the cross bar. Looked great, especially as dribbling seems quite tricky too.

Champions League inside the Master League has provided some epic moments. Like my second round stage knockout match vs Real Madrid.

First match away, couldn't have hoped for a better match. They dominated for 60 minutes, I didn't have a shot at all. Then managed to break with Suarez (a January signing) and sent Bale down the left. From practically the corner flag, at speed with both Ramos and Carvalho on him, Bale sends in a zippy cross that's about to bounce in front of the on-rushing Suarez around the penalty spot. Pepe dives in front and bullets a header home - as an own goal of course. Rah, game on.

10 minutes later, a double save from Gomes by Plasticman. Manage to whack the ball up field with Dawson, Pav knocks it on for the overlapping Bale, I cut inside thinking of Milan on Wednesday night. Not to bother though, Carvalho crunches him, gets a second yellow and Pav chips in the penalty.

Few minutes on, Hutton the turtlewax-powered menace is the latest to aim lunges at Plasticman. Got a yellow for a rather tasty challenge near the halfway line. Camera flicks to the rotten fuck laid out on the floor, he's injured and I'm fisting air intimately, like Lionel Richie with his Extra Crunchy. His replacement, Alexander Pato, is however a game-changer. 80th & 84th minutes, first a header, the second a lucky rebound from a Gomes parry. All square. At this point I didn't care what the scoreline ended, I had defeated Plasticman. But straight after their equalizer I swapped the tiring Pavlyuchenko for Crouch.

Turned out, he'd ate his special leaves that morning, the Giraffe bastard. Another Bale cross on the break and Crouch is unmarked around the penalty spot, easy header to the far post and in off - last action of the game!

Looked at the squad info screens off the Master League menu and it showed Ronaldo was out for 2 weeks. He did miss the return leg. I lost it right at the death, was 0-1 down at home meaning I went through on away goals, and then in the last five minutes I chopped Kaka and another new Real signing, Del Piero (!), put away a free-kick. I was out but not too bothered.
 
Yesterday i've started a ML with a legendary Italian team who is now in lower divisions (C2 if i'm not mistaken).
At the beginning of the Italian football league the two biggest teams were Genoa and Piemontese side Pro Vercelli.
I decided to put this team in Serie B (created thowe teams loosely over the fake teams and messed up by somehow putting Boca Juniors too in that division, but in the end this suits me fine as i'm fond of Argentinian players...might even target Riquelme for one last European stint).

First match was againt Vicenza (away) and it was immediately a cracker: took the lead with an Ordaz goal but in the second half Vcenza scored 3 goals. After 75 minutes the match seemed lost, but Minanda and Ordaz were in fantastic form. The match ended 3-3 with two Ordaz goals and 3 assists from Minanda.
Second match again was an away match against Novara (IRL currently leaders in Serie B) which Pro Vercelli smply won 0-2 (goals by Castola and Ordaz).
The third match was a derby against fellow Piemontese club Torino. Oro Vercelli were the better team but could not find the net until the 85th minute when (of all people) Stemer scored the winning goal...1-0!
Wit 7 points out of 9 minnows Pro Vercelli are currently third after Boca and Grosseto.

I'm already hooked like in PES5 and the versions before that.
 
Had a funny moment earlier in the last game of my first season.

I had Man Utd at home, I was already guaranteed 3rd place yet Man City were in 4th, a point ahead of United in fifth. The match itself was tough, they'd put Berbatov & Rooney up front on excellent form, Nani & Valencia working great on the wings, Scholes & Fletcher in the centre. The way they played seemed like it was certain the AI was programmed to go all-out to get that 4th place in the league for CL qualification.

85th minute, however. It's still 0-0. Scholes pot-shot from 30-plus yards hits the post, comes off Gomes and Rooney is there for the rebound. Cry, I didn't, as 3rd place guaranteed. Interestingly, when I skipped the replay and the sides lined up for kick-off, Hernandez had been brought on for Scholes and Man Utd lined up with 3 up front. Ten seconds after kicking off, I fouled Rooney and off went Hernandez for Carrick, substitution animation and all, the one with the slower walk. United back to a 4-4-2.

Poor bastard must've been gutted. Especially too after the match, they still finished 5th in the league as Man City had won again.

Platini announces new regional format for Europe.

2011 will finally see a new European Football structure put in place, after many years of speculation.

Uefa's maverick President announced the formulation of 4 divisions split across the continent, that will take precedent over individual national leagues. Based primarily on geographical factors - an Iberian, Northern, Central and Mediterranean division will still see the cream of Europe's elite meet in both the Champions and Europa league.

Whilst opponents of the scheme lambasted the former French star for his stance, supporters welcomed the attempt to create stability and balance whilst democratising clubs and creating a level playing field.

Fans of clubs from Porto to Prague, Manchester to Moscow will await with baited breath the draw made tomorrow lunchtime in Nyon, to find out if they have been included in their respective Superliga or first division....

Chairman's Three Year Plan
Preston North End chairman Maurice Lindsay has just completed his first 100 days in charge since taking over on 21st June 2010.

Saturday's matchday programme, The One And Only, featured the chairman's Q&A in which Maurice told fans of his three year plan for the Club.

Pro Vercelli are cruising.
After 6 matches they are second with 16 points (a 3-3 draw in the first match and they played only once at home until now...that is a litle bit strange, no?).
In the away leg of the Coppa they beat Serie A side Brescia 0-4 and this without a single new player...

Prof - Yep mate, I did accidently knock off player development, so I had to start over again...............grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

So restarted my Rodos game over, I've started off in the fictious Meditteranean League (ML) with promotion to the Meditteranean Super League (MSL). I've changed the emblem and entrance music to these competitions and just renamed the cup.

Currently I'm 8 games into the new season, sitting 2nd behind Xakoulagos who have 19 points, whilst I have 18.

Beat Kayesispor (bottom of the MSL) in the cup to get through to the last 16 where I face off against Olympiakos.

I play a 4-4-2 (think it labels it 4-2-2-2):-

GK - Nikolaos (edited fake player), GRE
RB - Titi (fictious player, name edited only), BRA
LB - Raitos (as above), GRE
CD - Dracos (edited fake player), GRE
CD - Booth, S.AFR
DM - Tziolos, GRE
LM - Tshabalala, S.AFR
RM - Dokos (edited fake player), GRE
AM - Zeus edited fake player), GRE
ST - Mphela, S.AFR
ST - Papadopolous, GRE

Haven't spent too much on the team, although have invested a lot. Seemed I had around £50m+, however after wages and staff purchased I was left with around £10m, so I've spent about £3-4m so far on players.

Transfers in:- Booth, Tziolos, Tshabalala, Khnosneri (IRA, sp?), Mphela, Papadopolous.

Also bringing in a couple of youth players to the team and have agreed a deal for Koustanalkis (sp?, plays for PAOK where Papadopoulous was playing) and another PAOK player Muslimovic. Hope to bring in possibly another midfielder and maybe a couple of full-backs (one fancied is Sokratis of Milan who can fill in at SB).

FD, i presume you have bought these players in the transfer period before the season started (or at the very beginning of your first season)?
I have a few questions and will explain afterwards why i asked this.

Did you start in division 2?
Do you work with a scout or do you do those tranfers yourself?

I started in division 2 with the default players (long time since i did that) and wanted this to be as realistic as possible so i used a scout for transfers.

Before i had his reports on the players i wanted to buy, the transfer period was over and according to his reports most players i was interested where unwilling to come to my team...i can assure that i wasn't targeting the likes of Ronaldo, Messi and Kaka. I'm talking about players like Bjorn Vleminckx (NEC), Massimo Donati, Ricchiuti and some young Italian fringe players in Serie A.

Should i sack my scout?
 
Gerd, you should find that there are players willing to join you. I have the default scout and you'll eventually find some players where there's "no real obstacle in signing him" or "shouldn't be a problem" etc. Also, some of these are either loan or transfer listed players. Flick through a player's bio and some will have those boxes ticked and therefore more likely to move.

In my NAC Breda ML, i signed a young Albanian attacking midfielder (Memushaj) on loan from Chievo, at the start of the season.

Likewise, at AS Ganzoraccio, i managed to sign Borges (Costa Rica) permanently. (i transferred him to a PES league side before starting my ML). I think he plays for a Norwegian side irl.

Oh and i also have Fabio Borini (Chelsea) coming on loan in January (to AS Ganzoraccio), who i didn't think i'd get. Maybe because as i'm an Italian team, the loan was agreed :LOL: . I need him though or i can kiss goodbye to trying to reach a top 3 place for promotion.

Thanks Prof...it is true that until now i was basically searching for Italian players (who are predominatly playing for Italian teams). I will try foreign teams but on the other hand i desperately want some Italian players for my Italian teams.

Apart from this minor thing i have that same old feeling of immersion while playing ML. There is a big difference with the other next-gen versions of PES. I really like it and the stadium editor helps.

Yeah I handle the transfers myself and as you mentioned I got them at the start of the season.

I do have the transfers set to low.

I don't know what happens if you leave it to your scout to do, basically doing it manually, the scout will negotiate and as Prof mentioned the scout report usually gives you an indication to how willing the player and club are to moving. I have edited a fictious team, so I'm not sure what their pulling power is, but I've started off in the 2nd division and I signed players from European and Division 1. I also started off with £50m+ after sponsors etc. Seems very high, but I don't know if that's the norm? I just put really everything into the staff hiring.

Not sure of the earnings potential, therefore I might have to cut down the grade of staff come next season as I only have around £6-7m now?

Strange you have so much cash FD. I'm pretty sure i'm only in the teens of millions (still only in November). I'll check later.

Gerd, i too plan to fill my team predominantly with Italians, over time. Dodo is already there of course :LOL: .

Out of curiosity, who makes your starting XI?

My starting eleven?
I rotate a lot, but i have a few certainties: El Moubarki, Ordaz, Castolo, Dodo and Valeny.
I started with a 4-4-2 formation, but now i'm playing more and more 4-3-3 with Ordaz, Castolo and Guiterez upfront. In the middle i have Dodo, Ximelez and Vandenberg or Espimas
At the back: Stein, Valeny, El Moubarki and Ruskino or Stremer.

I'm doing quite well after 8 games: i'm currently second after Boca Juniors. Won 6 and draw two matches. The last match i played was 1-1 at home against Boca (the only non-Italian team in my league structure...it was a mistake but i don't care too much because i'm fond of Argentinian football...would love to play a South-American ML with an Argentinian team like Newell's Old Boys or Velez Sarsfield). I discovered another very annoying bug. It happens when you have a corner. If you aim, the game aims automatically and turns all the way to the right...it aims at around 3 or hours and you can't put it back...so every corner is wasted. I hope this happens because i play in a created stadium...after the match i changed it and now Orione is my home stadium. I hope that it never happens again...to be honest i'm afraid it is something that will happen now and then because i made the Stadium of Light for a league i play with Sunderland and it never happened. This is typically Konami, they have once again a very good game but they spoil it by all sorts of litle bugs and inconveniences. What is also very weird is that in 8 league matches i only played twice at home...
Next match is a cup match against Udinese after i eliminated Brescia (0-4 away, 4-0 in the home leg...the only matches where i scored as much).

PS: playing this game with two against the CPU is brilliant...i do this quite a lot with both my kids...they also love the game...my son is quite good at it and my daughter (the biggest football freak in our house, a big Chelsea fan) is desperate because she can't give a decent pass, so just dribbles and shoots.

Sounds like you're doing well gerd. I'm still only clinging on to hopes of a third place finish. The January window has just closed and i'm about 7 points off third. My league appears to be quite competitive and i can't quite get a good run of results on the go. So i bob up and down.

I did manage to bolster my squad in the mid season break. I've promoted the young Italian defender, Palmieri to my first team and also winger Pelaez. I raided Cesena for midfielder Marco Parolo, who had put his contracts talks on hold at the club. Marco was happy to move back to the region of his birthplace (Lombardy). Also, as i mentioned previously, Fabio Borini has joined on loan from Chelsea. Lucky he did too, because Gutierrez, my main striker, picked up an injury for 3 weeks, on his arrival.

Speaking of injuries, i've had quite a few, all 'in training' though, but that's cool and realistic. Stremer was the longest at 6 weeks, so far.

Chaps, there is a 'bug' in this years ML whereby if you edit a fictitious team BEFORE beginning your ML you will automatcially start as a higher rated team with a better budget etc. To begin at the very bottom you have to actually start your ML with the unedited team and then edit them AFTER you've begun the Master League. That way you start with virtually no budget and the lowest ranking.
Hope that makes sense.
 
I thought that might be the case. Because i started with no way near as much as FD, i think it was about £14M and my fanbase is only about 41,000.

You can edit the name, kits and the stadium as much as you want, after you have started the ML (other teams too).
 
That is strange. I also edited a fake team (before starting) and i have a budget of 17 million euro, which isn't that big.
And if what you say is true, that isn't necessarily a bug, for once this was good thinking by Konami as most gamers will overwrite this teams with bigger teams (for example the Bundesliga teams).

Prof my fanbase is something about 6.300...but that suits me fine because Pro Vercelli is in reality a very small club.

Maybe you only did what i did gerd, which was create a stadium, edit kits, and alter the name. I guess unless you actually edit/create players, it's not perceived as editing too much.

i guess it's a bit like in ML, when you try to buy a created player, they are generally quite expensive, even if they possess mediocre stats. At least that is what i remember from PS2 days when you had to create missing players from scratch.

That is exactly what i did Prof... i never edited players.
I wasn't aware of the fact that you can edit players after having started the ML...i might do that litle by litle for the "bigger" Serie B teams like Atalanta, Livorno, Siena etc...
 
well, just their names and apperance i'm guessing. That should be fine. Oh and kits work too, as i've been changing some of the other teams kits to better ones, for more variation, using their club badges as the colours. I think i might turn PES United into Vicenza, as they look odds on to get promoted. Similar red and white striped kit too ;)

started a ml today with a d2 league fantasy team, edited them before starting ml
in game plan in ml all players got OFF or S/OFF awareness beside 2 players balanced
even defenders got off, stremer, valeny etc.

whats wrong wtf
then i edited the d2 original teams awareness of players but in ml nothin changed, wud it help to restart the ml i dont think so
how i can edit the konami stock ml players awareness ?!
