Master League Adventures and other ML stuff 2011!

IMO the form arrows are broken this year, but to be honest i don't see much difference (except perhaps a red arrow up). I constantly play my key players, even if they have a purple arrow down...

Hmmm, not sure, they are my first teamers, they ain't on the bench.

Would they stay Purple if I was playing them then? I thought if I dropped them it wouldn't help? It's just bizarre that they have played every game but have never been any other form colour than purple?

Maybe I do need to drop them, I don't know.

Is it not your Fitness Coach ? Is he still Level 1 ?

And MNJ, I'm sure I got £10 million for reaching the EPL last year, and all my sponsor's increased.

gerd, i definitely notice my players aren't as sharp when on a purple arrow. These arrows are a bit ridiculous this year. How long have they had to tweak this, years. It should be really good by now.

Nah Jimmy mate, tbh, I think he might be a 2 or 3, but as I said before in my last game I had re-created Agata (forgot to edit his age, so I base copied him), my backroom staff were all top notch, and I remember him being Purple from when I bought him and that was after about 4 or 5 games, which I had him on the bench because I thought he was maybe injured.

I'll see how things go, but it is annoying me now, hopefully I can get through the season and it'll change for next year.

It is defo every player that has been created is purple and won't change. I haven't played a full season yet so maybe it will change next season.

Pro Vercelli reach Serie A after exhibition match:

Serie B outfit Pro Vercelli have certainty of promotion to Serie A with 7 matches to play.
An unbeaten run of 26 matches in Serie B meant that promotion is well deserved.
Pro Vercelli went winning 1-2 at Boca Juniors. Boca took a well deserved lead with an early goal by Martin Palermo. Palermo's injury in the second half proved to be the turning point. Subs Guitterez and Ruskin provided a somewhat flattering away win.
In their home match against Albino Leffe, a draw would be enough to give certainty of promotion. Pro Vercelli began the match very nervous and the first 15' minuter Albino Leffe were the better team and missed a couple of sitters. The first real attack provided a goal for Pro Vercelli: captain Minanda leading by example. The second attack imediately after the kick-off provided another Minanda goal. At that moment (after 18 minutes) the game was effectively played. The rest of the match Pro Vercelli countered intelligently and won this match 6-1 and this against a team that was for large stretches clearly dominating them.

After the match, Pro Vercelli's coach Giuseppe Giannini siad he was happy with promotion but that thowe two last matches proved that Pro Vercelli certainly need reïnforcements in order to have a chance in Serie A. 'Il Principe' added that Pro Vercelli are having talks with a couple of established Serie A players.

PS: in Serie A, i will play on top player...professional is maybe a litle bit too easy...

Hi Gerd,

What a great idea! - I like the idea of doing the Championship at
one level and then stepping it up when I (hopefully) get to the prem with Preston.

Sir you are a Poirot-esque genius :)

gerd, you're too good. :P And there was me on the last day of my first season praying for a miracle (finished 5th). It's looking better for me this time, but it's still tough as the demoted Serie A sides attempt to claim the top 3 places.

Quick question guys, as I'm only in the first season, what are player wages like in PES2011? In the last version the wages in ML got ridiculously high, to the point you could not afford to keep members of your squad. Has that been fixed this year, or is it the same?

Well, is Master League time, yeah baby!

Just a quick overview: Playing as Ajax Amsterdam, again, I aquire Crouch (again), Tiene for SB/CMF (Scout recommended), and a couple of Icelanders, Gudjohnsen and Steinsson for SB/RMF.

Season so far has been hit and miss, dropped out of CL on Penalties, but have got mostly favorable results in the league, although it's only like 4 games so far.

Saw the craziest own goal this morning, the goalkeeper parried my shot out to a defender just outside the box, who promptly fired it into his own empty net... under absolutely no pressure. 1-0 win as well. Then I was trying to get a win against Juve in the Europa League, it was 1-1 in overtime, I put on all attack when I get a corner. It's headed over the bar and I can't figure out who had the header. Turns out, it was Ivarov, my own keeper!

I can feel the addiction kicking in, I think I will grab a couple of more games.

The squad should be knackered after the tough 1-1 draw agains Juve, they were all over me at the start of the game but a goal from Crouch knocked the wind out of them for a good while before the got a goal in the second half. So far Tiene and Steinsson have impressed the most, Tiene is a side-back but is very agile as a cmf. Steinsson can also be used as a RMF but he is more effective as a SB, stopping many in their tracks with his excellent tackles. Gudjohnsen and Crouch have been rather ineffective up front, Crouch admittedly getting a good header in against Juve but otherwise his headers have been tame, so far he is is not as dangerous as he was in 2010. Gudjohnsen has rattled the goal frame a couple of times but has still to put the ball away. I was also hoping for more pass accuracy from them but I guess I will have to spend on a decent AMF asap.

edit: Next game is against De Graafschap. All my players are on red arrow. Every single one on the pitch AND on the subs bench. Rest is orange and green. Mostly orange though.

Yup, it's a bug. I've seen it happen in my ML too, quite early on. You're not sure whether to laugh or cry. I suspect you may also come across the keeper who can't dive on the ball, which is trickling past him (as he's right next to it).

Starting to sadly experience more & more cheating from the AI in Master League these past few days. Each time I've played, against any team in the top half of the Premiership, they'll have a team of players all over 80-rated, usually between 1 and 6 players rated over 90. Whenever I play against them, every goal conceded is shitty and unstoppable. It's just in the last few sessions on the game, totalling around 12 games in the league. I'm on match 30 in my second season.

The better the stats get of the AI, the more cheesy goals I'm seeing, sadly. I played Chelsea for example at home, 60 minutes gone, it's 0-0. Drogba knocks through 3 defenders and scores. I equalize by around 70 minutes. One minute later, Drogba does a carbon copy. Over and over it went until the 90th minute, I drew level making it 4-4 and then Drogba powers through my defence and passes to Anelka who I get a great tackle in on, the ball goes to Gomes who then stutters, doesn't respond and who barges into him to score his fifth goal with a super secret special barge move? Drogba.

The same goals are happening each game. I even had Huddlestone cropped in the last minute by Piquionne (sp?) of West Ham in my own half, at home. Latching onto the loose ball he carried on, knocking over Dawson and jumping over Woodgate's tackle SIMULTANEOUSLY before slotting in the equalizer with seriously their first attack of the game.

I've not won a match in 11. Seems so sudden. I'm always "in the zone" when I boot the game up. Keep telling myself it's just a phase and I'm imagining it!

I love these mock Newspaper articles Frank, where can I find that template please bud ?

They will look great in my PEEL Match Reports. :)

I was wondering what people think is the best transfer setting, I always use medium but the transfer frequency still seems a bit high, Anyone tried out the low frequency setting.

Last year's game, when I set the transfer to low, I didn't get much (if any) transfers at all from the AI clubs....What about this year?? if set at low, does the AI still buy/sell players?? I remember having some players on transfer list, but no one came to try to negotiate anything for them...

Low is definately the way to go if you want it more realistic. No question, in my opinion.

Starting a new master league with OM tonight so will try it, although I love the fact the cpu tries to improve its team they sell many of their crucial players on medium. In your experience is the cpu still active enough on low setting? I ask this becuase I find the game more challenging and interesting when they make a good signing.

On another note I had an extremely realistic(yet infuriating) situation with afellay whilst playing as PSV, he decided to run down his contract which was no coincidence as a number of top clubs including city(top club?) vied for his signature, his form was poor every match so I was forced to let him go for free. In real life it seems he is holding out for a move to Italy or England and he has refused to sign a new contract.

Pro Vercelli get an extreme make over and win first Serie A match:

The Piemontese outfit was very active on the transfer market and made a good start with a 4-1 win over Cesena. Italian pundits and football writers have their doubt if the litle Piemontese club stand a chance to avoid relegation in their first top flight season since a very long time. Pro Vercelli became champions in Serie B last season and were renowned for their attractive football. It seems that coach Giuseppe 'il principe' Giannini will be opting for a more cautious approach in the top flight, with a 4-3-2-1 tactic.
Doubts remain about the very young an relatively inexperienced back four and also about the way the squad that became champions last year will react to their demotion since only goalkeeper Facheta and CB Mattson seem starters this season.
Before the unexperienced back four, Giannini will playing with 3 dynamic CMF's who are strong defensively and are conditionally very strong.
The creativity will come from two young, promising but unproved AMF's and one lone striker will have to score the goals. In the first match against Cesena all worked well, but it remains to be seen how this rather young team will fare against stronger opponents.

The team:

GK: Fatecha
RB: Astori (from Cagliari)
CB: Mattson
CB: Ariaudo (Cagliari)
LB: Rubin (Bologna)

CMF: Zucculini (Genoa)
CMF: Donati (Bari)
CMF: Biondini (Cagliari)

AMF: Payet (St.-Etienne)
AMF: Dries Mertens (Utrecht)

FW: Gameiro (Lorient)

Pro Vercelli - Cesena 4-1

12': Gameiro (Payet)
23': Jiminez
33': Gameiro
46': Mertens (Gameiro)
77': Gameiro (Mertens)

Any ideas why I can't promote any youth players? Released a ton of my squad at the start of my ML but when I click on a youth player, the only option is to use as a comparison?

Have you switched the Player Development Off ? I'm sure Frank had the same issue and had to restart his ML.

In my experience last year in ML, which is pretty much identical to this year's offering, having it set to Low, meant that the CPU teams only really bolstered the positions with relevant signings. I felt it much better all-round, and I saw less of the club talisman type players leaving. For example, Stevie G was at Liverpool for the 5 seasons I played it with Boro. In my test run season ML with Stoke, he was at Chelsea after 1 season, and I had that frequency set to Medium. It wasnt just Gerrard either, Rooney was at Man Utd, Fabregas at Arsenal. It just seemed alot better, whether is was pure coincidence, I'm not sure. Either way, it worked better for me personally.

And that's a great start Gerd, bearing in mind the lads have had very little time to gel. Long may it continue. :)

Ah, you have Kevin Gameiro, gerd. He came through in my Strasbourg ML a few PES ago, to become my main striker. It seems he's looking equally as effective for you.

You already had him in your team at that time..hat off..he only broke through last season if i'm not mistaken. He's a very good player.

I only played one match with the new line up but the 4-3-2-1 formation seems to suit me very well. It's a shame that Konami got rid of the friendly matches between two seasons. That is a typical step backwards from Konami.

Player development was set to dynamic, I assume that's the best choice?

Edit: Ah, I think it might be because I had the scout doing negotiations rather than me negotiating directly.

I think with Dynamic the stats increase based on performance rather than natural growth, as far as I'm aware. Didnt realise you how your Scout set up that way, that will be it mate forsure.

What are you sliders set like gerd, support and all that.

Yes, Starsbourg had a bunch of youth/young players, that i brought through over the season and Gameiro was amongst them.
