Master League Adventures and other ML stuff 2011!

Low transfer frequency is the way to go for me now, so far so good the cpu has still made some decent transfers Ive have also had offers for some of my players, especially loan and transfer listed players. Very impressed with dynamic player growth nice idea from konami,if your players are preforming you will notice some big improvements stat wise. I switched back to standard as I feel the players grow at a more realistic pace, Dynamic's a bit too fast imo.

About the sliders: i change them quite often depending on the opposition.
I usually play wide with lots position switches, lots of pressure and a tight formation to defend. That way my players are getting tired rather quickly, but with my 3 physical CMF's this should improve...

Ajax fans are furious after an embarrassing exit from the Europa League. Getting relegated from the CL was bad enough but now Ajax finished 4 points shy of a second place finish in their group, with Juventus and Getafe going forward. The manager has promised to go all out for a stronger midfield in the negotiation window, and has pointed out that the team is still in 2nd place in the league, only a point behind PSV.

Experts also have limited faith in Ajax, especially since the team has been unable to find a suitable formation, switching between 4-4-2, 3-5-2 and even 3-4-3, but have at the same time praised Gudjohnsen and Crouch up front, who have done a good job. The defense has also been solid, even though individually the players are not highly rated.

Essentially the rest of the season boils down to if a sturdy attacking midfielder can be aquired in the january window.

Ajax fans are still trying to stop their heads spinning after frantic events of the last transfer days. At first they were ecstatic with the mid-season buys, with Riquelme, Diego Milito and Jesús Navas all added to the team. However, in the last moments, two key players were sold, Crouch and Tiéné. Offers were made for Gudjohnsen and Steinsson as well.
"Tiéné was one of our favourite players but he was desperate for a move," says the manager. "So was Steinsson but I couldn't lose them both. As for Crouch... Well, let's say we had some differing opinions on his performances". Crouch will surely have a better case as the top goalscorer of the season with 11 goals, but the manager decided to stick with Gudjohnsen instead to help Milito up front. "Don't forget I have brought up an absolute bundle of promising youngsters." says the manager finally, conveniently forgetting that he released many of the players who have kept the goals conceded in the league to a minimum. There have also been loud voices concerning the lack of a DMF in the absence of Tiéné. But next up is an away game against AZ, after which the managers decisions will be judged.
- - -
After the match against AZ there are still mixed emotions. On one hand, the newcomers did fantastically, with Milito scoring after a through pass from Gudjohnsen, and later providing an assist of his own for Riquelme to head in. On the other hand, an injury to Gudjohnsen and a lacklustre performance from Dodo as a DMF, proved how thin the squad is after Tiéné and Crouch left. Still, the new defence did well in a 3-5-2 formation and a 1-2 win was the result. If the away game against AZ was a test for the new players, then surely the next away game against second place PSV is surely a test for the manager as many players are worn from international duty.

Kicked off a Bundesligue 2nd division season with AEG Biernfels,a city situated somewhere in the Ruhr valley and closely associated to the AEG electrical company based there.
All teams have been edited and are ficticious, but do resemble a decent DB2 division which should prove a challenge to achieve promotion to the top flight.
I'm 8 games in and after an opening day[night]win I'm already struggling to find consistency, losing the next 4 matches with some sloppy teamwork and poor defensive performances including throing away a 2 goal lead.
A better effort in losing in the cup 2-1 at Borss.Moenchengladbach with ten men was followed by a home win in the league,so things are beginning to fall into shape.
Really enjoying everything about the game and, so far, the matches have been competitive and exciting.I've not once felt cheated by the computer,my defeats self inficted.
One BIG annoyance though.Every game, home and away, has been at night. Is it not possible to play matches in the day?How are you guys experiencing the kick-off times for matches?

Took over Wondengine Town in D2. Just completed my first season, won D2, and been promoted :). Had a tricky middle of season where I was losing games but changed the formation and tactics, worked wonders. Palmierie and Schwarz - fantastic players. Schwarz is like Drogba, and what a shot he has on him. Also special mention to Schimzu, his agility of 98 was very nice :) . The two most helpful purchases were Owen and Pongolle (although pongolle has left, was on loan). Premiership here we come :D:D

Brought Ashely Cole and some Ukrainian goalkeeper who is 95 OVR. They will be arriving Jan 1st, it's the 2nd half of the 2nd week in November :) One thing I have noticed however, is that when I go into squad list, on Ryan Babel for instance it says that Man Utd are a team in contact, does that mean in the January market they will make a move for him? Because I have the same for Pepe Reina with Valencia... should point out both are NOT on the transfer or loan list.

Having a good spell with Rhodos Frank...great.
Pro Vercelli won their first two matches against Cesena and AS Roma (a 6-1 win). Then lost 2-1 in Palermo and 2-3 home against Udinese.
Last match was a 3-0 win home against Inter (Gameiro hattrick).
Kevin Gameiro, Biondini and Zucculini are proving to be outstanding players (does anyone here knows if Zucculini ever plays for Genoa irl...i bouhgt him because i lover Argentinian CMF's).

For some reason this bug isn't apparent in my game (I use gerd's Option file with Anglo/Celt teams as Div 2). And I'm beginning to wish it was!!!

Seems that which ever Championship/Celtic team I start a ML with (I've tested 4 or 5) you only get a budget of £2-3m. I even edited one of his teams (Shamrock Rovers) to a ficticious team (changed name, badge etc) and I still only got £3m. I was quite gutted because after paying wages I only had about 30k left!!!! I've just started the second half of my first season. I did win enough games to sign Andy Caroll (for about £200k) but I'm skint again now. The thing I enjoy most about ML is wealing and dealing in the transfer market, looking for unknown gems.... but I simply have no cash!

I'm currently 4th in the league and I'm waiting to see what happens at the end of the season because with gate receipts & sponsors so low I could win every single match from now on and still not have the £2-3m needed to pay next season's costs. Anyone know what will happen then...Game Over? How much money do you get for being promoted?

I'm all for a challenge but I could be in a situation where I do well, get promoted and still have 'Game Over' after all that trouble!!!! So I'm not sure which is worse....unrealistic huge amounts of money like some of you guys or bugger all??? Just wish there was a balance.

Update: I managed to win promotion from the Anglo/Celt League with the default team finishing second behind Celtic in my first season. I play on Top Player, so I was well chuffed. Andy Carroll was top scorer with 22 goals.

After recieving all my bonuses I had just over £3.5m. I decided to take a risk in the transfer market, signing David Suazo and Wayne Routledge, bringing my budget to £3.1m. With a couple of weeks to go before I had to pay expenses I had a warning message come up to say that I didn't have enough money to pay them. After playing a 2 away games and 1 at home (where I had 69k) I finally had enough leaving me with 33k - talk about timing....lucky I had a home fixture before the window closed that's all I can say!:BOP:

Anyway I've started the Premiership season well, losing my first game to Stoke 2-0, before beating Wigan 1-0 then Chelsea 2-0 and a 0-0 draw with other promoted team Coventry City. I currently lie in 3rd place with 7pts.

My line up:
GK: Ivarov (default)
RB: El Moubarki (default)
CB: Palmeri (Youth)
CB: Valeny (default)
LB: Ruskin (default)
RM: Routledge
LM: Donavon
CM: Shimizu (Youth)
DM: Dodo (default)
SS: David Suazo
CF: Andy Carroll

Donavon, is that Landon Donavon who played for Everton last season?
Yeah, forgot to mention I bought him too in Jan transfer window of the first season (probably because he got injured in training the very first week I bought him and was out for 7 months)! Made his debut this season in the game against Wigan.

Sold Reina and loaned out Amoo (both will be leaving Jan 1st) and probably just saved the contract renewals of Torres and Gerrard after they both were unhappy with the lack of chances at the club, but played them in a Europa League game and they soon became happy with the club again. Joe Cole is injured for a week after taking a knock in the 3-1 win over Birmingham, so he will miss the English Cup quarter-final against Manchester City along side Dirk Kuyt who is suspended. Will look to give Pacheco a go in place of Cole, as he has improved loads since the start of the season and is a potential future club captain/ UEFA footballer of the year. Other than that, top of league by 10 points after 15 or so games, and already qualified for the Europa League knockout stages with a game to spare, sorted!

After a close battle with PSV, it looks like all the hard work is paying of for Ajax. with three games left and 2 points ahead of the bitter rivals, Ajax went on the road to compete against 5th place Twente. Before the game a draw was almost a favorable result, with D. Milito out for the season with an injury, but then a win from PSV would result in both teams deadlocked in first place. But Ajax had two home games left so it still seemed like a good option. However, Ajax went into some serious groove in the game to secure all three points. First, Gudjohnsen scored from a corner, threw his leg forward and the keeper had no chance. Then Gutierrez, fresh of the bench with Milito out of the picture, kept a cool nerve as the Twente defence played some dangerous balls between them. 2-0 at the break. With Twente pushing for goals, Gudjohnsen scored again, slotting it home after gutierrez supplied the super through pass. Not many minutes later there was a mad sramble in Twentes box and three players got to pick who got the goal. It was Gudjohnsen. Finally, he converted a cross for a total of 4 goals in one game and the biggest victory of Ajax's season, 5-0. It didn't hurt that PSV lost to De Graafschap so now Ajax is 5 points clear with two rounds to go. They can still blow it, but are hoping to finish the job in the next match.

---

Ajax are champions! They edged the next to last game against Utrect, 1-0 with a goal from Gudjohnsen. Ajax won the last game against Excelcior too, which was just as well as PSV slaughtered their last two games. Gudjohnsen is the player of the season, Top scorer with 22 goals and assist leader with 9 assists. Steinsson was picked for the best Eleven as well, truly a great season for Ajax and the Icelanders.

Hi guys, a few quick questions;

1.) How many years does Master League last until you have to retire?
2.) Is there any other reason for being unhappy with a club, other than the "Unhappy with the lack of chances at the club" one? Because out of all 6 players that have been unhappy with the club, they have all been because of that reason. If there are, what are they?

I wouldn't think there would be a retiring age, think your maybe meaning the BAL mode.

On the subject of unhappy players, for some reason I have players (created players should I point out) that are unhappy and said to have 'a frosty relationship with the club'. Unfortuantely it's kinda ruined my game.

Can you still sign players on a new contract who have this unhappy mark and also have zilch in way of affection for the club.

I've now went on to my second season and had hoped that my created players who I bought would be fine now, but no, still all unhappy and permanent down arrow.

I can't really be arsed playing it still if they'll never be happy and never have any other type of form, especially if they leave due to not signing a new contract.

Pretty pissed as I managed to win the cup and have qualified for the Europa Cup, although did only finish 3rd in the league, but did gain promotion.

Did you play these unhappy players regular FD? If so, i'm not sure what the reason might be.
In my Pro Vercelli ML the unhappy players were players that weren't playing regular except Schwartz. He got promoted from the youth team. Played two matches and was on the bench the third one. He was unhappy because he did not play enough. I continued to play roughly two games out of three and he continued to be unhappy...i'm a no-nonsense despotic manager in PES and got rid of him at the end of the season. Football is a team sport and does not need prima donna's. That why IRL i don't like Ibrahimovic and Cr Ronaldo while being very fond of Messi...

Anyway concerning my Pro Vercelli ML, i don't feel the immersion i had other years, although at times the matches are brilliant. A created team is not good for me. At the moment i'm enjoying myself immensely in a league with Valenciennes...what a great litle club. I think i will do a whole lot of editing (creating the Belgian teams) and start a new ML with a real team...could be Valenciennes, but could also be another real club...

Feck, stupid computer with this site always needs me to log-in and I lose what I type.

In short, yes play them all the time. Think it is some glitch I have due to me editing team names etc and obviously must have had a knock on effect to all created players.

Hi Guys,
In summary, I started my ML career a couple of weeks back, editing a random team from the PES league into a fictitious Milton keynes FC (My home town) with the default players, after applying the WENB v1 OF and Ahlkens Championship OF. Made myself 2 very nice custom kits and designed a nice looking intimate little Div 2 stadium with custom adboards and sponsor logos etc.
Finished rock bottom of the Championship first season (im an average gamer - dont get many hrs to play), and finished runners up the following season, have been promoted to the Premier league where I have upped the difficulty to Professional from Regular and am struggling a little, currently 16th in the Prem.

my current 1st choice XI is

Fatecha

Barzolo ......... Ganaio.......Vacényc ......... Nesu

Baretta.........Oscar.......Shimizu.......Gouryeff

Gutierrez.......Schwarz

find it difficult to dribble past any players without using speed bursts though, any tips?

Regarding high starting money, thanks to mfmaxpower who found the below at http://www.pesgaming.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=234 and posted in discussion thread. Thought it should be in this thread too.

Works perfectly, finances, staff levels, fan club, sponsorship and youth team investment will all revert to low default levels.
Just to add, if you have edited players there is no need to set them back to default, only things that need defaulting are things in the team edit screen.

I am the author of the post that ollywolly referenced above and I have to add that you should also default any changes made to the "Support" setting. That makes four fields - "Team Name", "Emblem", "Home Ground" and "Support" - that you'll need to reset prior to beginning ML if you wish to avoid the advanced start. Bear in mind that edits made to other clubs in the game will give them a ranking boost relative to many of the licensed, non-edited clubs, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to also default the likes of Stoke City, Hercules, etc. to keep them from being ranked too highly at the start of ML. Alternatively, you could make sure that every club in the game is edited in some fashion (let's say by changing the home ground or chants of the licensed clubs) and thereby eliminate the "ranking boosts" altogether.

Well due to the created player form glitch I re-started again.

Basically I just restarted and base copied the created players into my squad. Then I begun the game with ML Custom team (castolo etc) and then manged to sign the created players released from my team in the free agent squad.

So I'm happy now and off I go.

Had around £20m to spend, however as usual I prefer to put on the backroom staff and give me a little money to spend.

Have got off to a good start, sitting 2nd after 3 games 2 points behind Larissa who have 9 pts.

Have bought the 4 created players GK - Nikolaos, DEF - Dracos, MID - Zeus, MID - Dokos. Also bought were Tito (actually an edited name only player, no stat changes), Tziolis and Sokratis (Greek lad from Milan). Had a bid for Agata (CF) knocked back, will hopefully get him in January. Looking at others such as Tshabalala, Papazoglou, Koutsianaloukis, Booth, Mphela. Some youth players will be promoted too, probably Fatecha, Palmieri, Shimizu and possibly Schwarz, possibly another couple.

You would need to edit the Team Ranking of the team as this effects how much money your start with, try editing a bigger team and starting with them if you want more cash / higher team ranking.;)
