Master League Adventures and other ML stuff 2011!

FINALLY started my Mast League after delaying it due to Fallout: New Vegas related issues.

Playing with the TWP patch (in the patches section) the Championship teams start with high team rankings (Mid 40s) and shed loads of money, so instead decided to start as newcastle with the master league original team in the Premier league, jumping straight in the deep end!

Ranked about 92 at the start of the game with a healthy 8 million after wages etc, I haven't made any purchases apart from loaning the suggested player at the start and hiring a half decent, 3 million quid scout.

Signed thre eplayers from the youth team: Schwarz, Shizimu and Palmeri.

Started the season pretty well all things considered, went through a dodgy losing streak of about 5 - 6 games then pulled out in time to pull off my most impressive results yet: 5-1 at man united (5-1! With a master league default squad! Needless to say, I was dancing round the room) 2 - 0 at Liverpool and 1 - 0 at Arsenal . However, still lost to the bottom three teams, so a bit strange.

Made some signings in January and my team looks like this:

gk ivavov
RB El Moukabri
CB Palmeri
CB Spahic
rm Espanias (36 yrs old)
lm Xeimelez (32)
cm Mindanda (39!!!)
cm Iouga (34)
fw Shimziu (16!!!)
fw Schwarz (17, so far 9 goals:P)

Gilet
Torje
Tomecak
Marcq
Valeny
Macco
Andy Carroll

This ahs to be the strangest master league team I've amanged so far.

hehe...............basically means if you wanted to copy the attributes and likes for a player, then choose that.

Basically just copying a player and all his attributes, features etc and then you can if you wish alter his name etc etc.

Just a time saver.

Great wins those :APPLAUD:

Was that on Top Player as well ?

hehe, good results, although as you say strange into the bargain with the basement team defeats.

Have took 10 points from first 5 games, only 1 point behind leaders Larissa but there are a host of teams, think I'm around 4th or 5th.

Do have problems up front, Castolo is getting on, but he seems to be the only striker I can trust. I have managed to tie up Papazoglu and Tshabalala for January. Hope to tie up another few players and I'll be happy with my squad.

Face Xanthi in the cup first round.

I had a very odd occurence last night. I was playing the 2nd leg of a Coppa Italia game against Catania.

The 1st leg ended 0-0 and i was 2-0 up at home, with about eight minutes left. I thought i could win this, even if i let one in. Fair enough, i conceeded one on about 82 minutes, so i decided to try and keep possession.
Then the next minute, from kick-off, Dodo has the ball in a DMF position and i'm slowly going forward and i press pass to a player ahead of him BUT!!! somehow Dodo turns around and passes behind him to nobody. A Catania striker jumps on the loose ball and runs at goal and beats the keeper. 2-2 and i go out on away goals. I was like  "but i was going forward"

I had a similar occurence with PES Utd vs Inter.
A heroic 0-0 draw away in the first leg.
1-0 up in the dying seconds of injury time at home, experience told me that a pass back to my keeper who was looking lonely in the 18 yard box followed by a clearace would see the match out and a glorious victory was mine.
The pass back was flawless. Straight through to Jacobs (Yeah I know, but he was on a red up!). He strolls out to meet the ball, I can taste victory. Just need to hoof it and I'm in the final!
Then the twat does a 180 degree turn a kicks the ball into his own net.
Lost the match on away goals and almost simultaneously lost a perfectly good controller in a high speed collosion with a wall!

just scraped by last night, beating spurs 1-0, drew 0-0 with chelsea, got a 1-1 at old trafford against utd and other results went my way to see me finish 16th and avoid relegation from the prem by 1 point.
Im playing as my made up Milton Keynes FC team with teh default players (Shimizu, Baumann etc)

One niggle i do have is that despite tinkering with all the sliders, none of my forward players seem to make any runs into space for passing opportunities, its costing me games as i lose posession and cant create much.

At the momennt i'm doing lots of editing because i want to start a new ML.
Meanwhile i'm playing leagues with Sunderland, Valenciennes and Atletico Madrid.
I must see i haven't experienced this. Maybe it's because of the stats of my forwards. All i can say is that Darren Bent, Asamoah Gyan (Sunderland), Samassa (Valenciennes) and Forlan and Aguero(Atletico) make plenty of runs into space...

I haven't had a win in 8 games with my ML originals, I'm 11 points off the relegation zone with 10 games left, it's getting a bit tight.

Downloaded the patch and played three games last night. a 0-0 draw and two hard fought 1-0 victories, as i approach the Christmas break. I feel i can defend better now, as i have more control with the improved player switching. Scoring is still hit or miss for me though. I even skied a penalty (i much prefered the old penalty system) in one of those tight games.

Division 2 is very competitive. I'm currently fourth and the three relegated sides from Serie A are occupying the top three places (Lecce, Bari and Parma). With any luck, i can force my way in there, at the expense of one of them.

How much money should Blackpool be starting with if the money bug isn't affecting things? It's £32m when I start one now. Does that sound right?? Sounds quite high to me!

It's about right for a Premiership team I think Rom. The cash glitch only effects Division 2 teams that have been edited, I believe. They should start with about £3 million.

Starting in Division 2 anyway is the one Rom, you need to 'earn' promotion.

I've started one as a random Div 2 team in the second tier behind the Premier League. My team's been edited as Luton Town (lol), which is awesome because the kits etc, once edited, now look identical to their real life orange ones with Easyjet etc on the front, and proper badges etc. The editing tool is so cool :)

Anyways, I started with £3 million and the basic ML players. I pretty much spent half of that money straight away on signing Palmieri and Schwarz from the youth team. I started terribly, being new to the game, and learning how to play while I go. I was bottom of the table with 2 draws and 4 losses from 6, but since I've flown up the table and at halfway I'm 5th. Most of my wins are generally 1-0, it's a massive struggle with players off form, too old, not enough cash, low, empty crowds, so I don't know where I'm gonna get the money to sign players and backroom staff but I'm sure I'll manage it in the end.

I've dropped a massive clanger though. In a fit of desperation for some quick cash I accepted an offer of £1.1 million for Palmieri, from Athletico Madrid. Big mistake as I've been reading about him being worth over £10 million at a later date. Doh!

Elsewhere, Schwarz is doing okay, his goals are more spectacular than frequent (including a beauty with the outside of the boot) but his form too is constantly 'off'. I've offloaded about 5 or 6 older players for not much money, mainly to free up some of the wage bill, but hopefully I can keep in contention for promotion where the big bucks should start rolling in and I can start to get the club moving.

I play in a self-made tiny stadium, so when I get promoted I'm moving them to one of the default stadiums to make it as if they were moving with the times!

Can't wait :)

I tested Bari in Serie A (licensed, therefore not edited) and they had £7m or so. I reset Blackpool, started a ML, quit out of PES, reuploaded the WENB edit file and loaded up the save. They now start on £8.8m.

Interesting what the board do if you properly overspend - they release your most expensive players if coaches alone don't cover it. Lesson learned! Reloaded the save and adjusted my transfer activity accordingly.

How strange. :CONFUSE:

I'll have a play about when I eventually start my offline ML, which I feel will be sooner rather than later now, as the MLO is starting to lose it's interest a little now for me.

Ok so quick question as I've just started a ML for the first time since PES6...

Do all the Div2 teams have the exact same formation and tactics for everyone else? a 4-5-1 with a deep midfield and single striker pushed right up to on his own?
Or is this just my game (using WENB OF V4)???

Starting to annoy me. I started with Celtic with the regular squad and I have to say it's a little easy,m even with them being quite mediocre. :P

Started a master league and challenged myself to only use manual pass and manual cross, so rewarding played like this. Using rubin Kazan no default players(hard enough not using default pass) currently in second season in a mixed European league with the likes of zenit, bayern, bremen etc, currently 4th 6 points of the top after gaining promotion last season. Finding the AI tougher after patch, more direct and aggressive.

Why did I get a message saying "Look out for young players with familiar sounding names!"? And then it goes on about the typical invest in your youth team and coaches explanation?

This is my first ML since 2008 and I'm loving what Konami have done with it. I imagine I'll have some gripes with it as I become familiar with it again but after FIFA's pathetic MM/CM this is footballing paradise!

I am a little concerned with the difficulty level though - I'm playing with WE United on Top Player and after six games I'm third in the table with no losses. The matches have been challenging but I hope it's not this easy and i win promotion in my first season!

To make it "harder" I switched cam to Normal Medium. It makes me concentrate more on ball control and short passing and finding that extra space to make use of rather than have a full view of the pitch to make it easier. I even think the game looks better this way. This cam should give you more challenge I think.

AS GANZORACCIO NEWS

Sforzini Savours Debut
Winter signing, Ferdinando Sforzini, had a debut to remember against promotion rivals AC Parma. Appearing as a substitute, the tall forward grabbed a second half brace in four minutes, adding to Baumann's first half header. The win put vital points between the clubs and strengthened Ganzoraccio's bid for promotion.

Sforzini did play for Avellino and a bunch of other Serie B teams if i'm not mistaken.
He currently plays for Cluj (hence being in the game).
