Master League Adventures and other ML stuff 2011!

Well, Ajax survived their financially challenged season, and more than that, they walked away with two cups, the KNWB cup and the CL cup. Although I was almost sure I had ruined my season by spending too much money the summer before, only one big injury came into play and the gap left in the forward line was well covered by Gutierrez and Hamsun. The latter really surprised me, with a ranking of 59 he probably wouldn't even have had a chance if he hadn't netted a hat-trick in a cup game. PSV took the league with a healthy 10 point lead, and Ajax came next, again 10 points ahead of third place. But near the end all the focus was on the CL, and to a lesser extent the KNWB cup, which was won 1-0.

Next up was the final in Europes biggest competition, I had glimpsed a chance of meeting Liverpool in the final in the quarter finals, about the same time as when I edged out Barcelona on an away goal (0-0 at home, the away game was a frantic affair, with 1-1 being the final result. a split second before the final whistle Villa hit a 40 yarder into my crossbar... a heartstopping moment for sure). Semi finals were less of a hassle against Marseille, even with another 0-0 home draw Ajax strolled the away game 3-0. Liverpool took care of Real Madrid and then there was the final.

Luis Garcia netted around 20 minutes after a fumbled clearance from Agger that fell before Garcias legs. Buffon, now in the Liverpool goal, had no chance against a cool finish. But the bliss was short lived, Jovanovich had equalized mere moments later, after a cross into the box, where he was unmarked and had no trouble finishing. After that the game was deadlocked, few chances but tension always high. Into overtime, it was 112 minutes untill the whole thing opened up again. Ajax weren't excactly pressing, but at one point Lavezzi got the ball up the wing and managed to get up to the endline. Gudjohnsen was heading into the box, and lavezzi sent a low cross, hoping for a miracle. Gudjohnsen hit the ball with his left foot, a weak effort, sure to roll quietly past the right post. but then something special happened, the "weak" shot had a wicked curl, turning inside at the last moment, and Buffon beaten. With little time to go, Ajax managed to keep the ball for the most part untill the final whistle.

In the next summer there have been many changes, with key players leaving but others coming in to take their place. The funny thing is, the accidental money gamble the summer before paid off, with the cups in the house and big players sold, even with some large names secured (Pirlo, Van der Vaart to name some) the bank is full of money. Good times.

Just played United in the second season. They won the double in the first season, so along with buying Ceasar, Pastore and Gorcruff, they've now bought Messi from Barca and are using him as a right back.

haha the wonders and joys of ML !!!

Played Utd last night in my ML campaign, they were top, unbeaten, had trounced everyone, I had possibly the must intense, fun and most enjoyable game ive ever had on any PES against them, pulling back a 1-0 deficit to end up winning 2-1 late in the game, keeping my unbeaten home record at my new stadium going!!

Still managed to whip them four nil though.:D

yes mate! this is my 4th season in the premier league, and my 10th ML seaosn overall.
Am currently top after hammering an unbeaten chelsea 6-2. still in the last 32 of the Europa league and in the quarter finals of the FA Cup, so unless i make a major ballsup, a treble of sorts is still a possibility this season.
And i dont have 1 single Major name player in my team!

My... probably fourth? season and I think I've got a pretty solid Ajax team.
Goalkeeper: Hildebrand. Really solid keeper. Let in 2 goals in about 14 games in the league.

Defense consists of thre CB's: Bruno Alves, Palmieri, Lescott. Rock solid defense, makes Hildebrands life easy.

Rotating between AMF/DMF: Pirlo and Van der Vaart. The latter is usually blue arrow (I can already see him wanting a move in the january window) and although Pirlo is a better DMF I have more fun with him terrorizing defenders up front.

Left wing/CMF: Adrian Mutu. Has an easy day with Duff in front of him, but has a few goals and is generally good.

Right wing/CMF: Luis Garcia. Almost legendary as an AMF/SS but the move to right wing hasn't changed much, still gets into scoring chances and is remarkably good at defending.

LWF: Damien Duff. This was a good move, he was almost out of the team untill I ditched the four man defence and stuck him way up there on the pitch. Lots of assists from him.

Forwards: Rotates between Gudjohnsen, Milito and Gyan Asamoah. Amazingly, Gudjohnsen is the best of the bunch. Milito and Gyan are good enough, but not up there with the best strikers. Then again I have a very aggressive midfield that lessens the pressure on any strikers.

I can keep my players pretty fresh and most of them can play game after game with little to no rotation. But I wonder what they are put through in the Internationals, They come back absolutely knackered, I have 11 guys playing those games now and some of them need two games before they recover fully. The first game after each International game is always a nightmare to set up, and is usually 1-0 scrappy stuff.

I want to start a new ML with Marseille, and the default ML players, but I also want to start in division 2. The game tells me you can change the league structure in edit mode so that you could, for example, put Marseille into divison 2 and start from there. Except, the league structure edit mode completely misses out the French league. It's nowhere to be seen. So I seemingly can't play with Marseille unless I start in the top division with CL qualification already been made?

Nope. League 1 and Eredivisie are fully licensed, so they do not appear in Edit mode in League Structure menu :/

Yep, seems that way. So it's impossible to play as Marseille without having them already in the top league and having qualified for the Champions League it seems. Which is crap.

Can you not edit one of the other teams (non licensed ones) WE United or something into Marseille, give them their real kit, etc and then transfer players across from the real marseille to the new made one and start a ML as that made up marseile ?

Well, a week ago i decided it was time to begin my ML adventure..

I chose the original player squad (which BTW gets crappier every game edition, i really loved some of the original guys but nowadays they're useless)
I went and modified PES United to be called Rage FC, and my club logo looks like this:

These are my kits:

well anyway, i started Division 2 hoping to get promoted to the Bundesliga (Top Player, 10min games), and i had to move my squad as much as i could before the season started..

i managed to get some players, and this was my starting 11 for the 1st half of the season:

------------Gutierrez (CF, Original team)---------------
---Ayew (LWF, Loan)----------Shimizu (RMF, Youth team)--
----------Kroos (CMF, Loan)-----------------------------
------------------------Minanda (AMF, Original team)----
-------------------Marquez (DMF, Free tranfer)----------
Ruskin (LB, Original team)-------Comotto (RB, Loan)-----
------------------------Schmidt (SW, Youth team)--------
--------------Palmieri (CB, Youth Team)-----------------
-------------------Fatecha (GK, Youth Team)-------------

we actually did pretty good for the first half of the season eventhough we were knocked out of the cup in the very first round (damn WE United) :(

Kroos & Marquez dominated the midfield while Palmieri has been the true captain for the team.. b y the end of the 1st half of the season we were on 1st place, if we keep it this way, we should have no problem in being promoted by the end of the year!

in the winter break I also managed to get some other players:

J. Hernandez (CF, loan) <--- if only i could afford him :(
Ramsey (CMF, transfer) 3mil
Babic (SB, joined) free agent
Jurado (AMF, joined) free agent
Rensing (GK, joined) free agent
Diego (AMF, joined) free agent :O
Oscar (AMF, promoted) youth team
Schwarz (CF, promoted) youth team

so my starting 11 looked like this for the 2nd half of the season:

--------------J. Hernandez (CF)-------------
---Ayew (LWF)----------------Shimizu (RMF)--
----------Kroos/ Jurado (CMF)---------------
------------------------Diego (AMF)---------
----------Ramsey/Marquez (CMF/DMF)----------
Babic (LB)-----------------Comotto (RB)-----
---------------------Schmidt (SW)-----------
--------------Palmieri (CB)-----------------
-------------------Rensing (GK)-------------

Hernandez & Diego are creating havoc as our offensive masterminds, and Chicharito will surely be missed by the end of the season..
i'm only 3 matches away from the end of the season and currently 1st place, WE United is second just 1 point behind us and next match will be crucial since we are facing each other (in their stadium).. 3rh place is 14 points behind so its only a 2-horse race for the title.

meanwhile, i arranged some transfers that will take place at the end of the season:
A. Koné (SS, tranfer) tranfer fee record for the team: 4,145,500!
G. dos Santos (AMF, transfer) 2,6 mil
Sandro (DMF, transfer) 2,1 mil
Kim Jong Yeol (CB, promoted from youth team)

hopefully Koné will fill Chicharito's shoes and Gio will be much of a player than Ayew has been.. honestly he's been rubbish :/
definitely Ayew & Comotto won't be missed at all.

regarding Kroos, i guess i did well by covering his place with some other players.. so he'll be missed but hopefully we'll have the chance to sign him in the future.. (same for Hernandez!)

well we beated WE United in that crucial match and actually gave them a pounding: 0-4. Out of sheer desperation a defender cracked Ramsey's leg in half (injured for 8 weeks) :/
as We United beat me in our first league encounter and toppled us out of the cup in the first draw, I already sense a rivalry against them.. and as we both got promoted (so did CS SQUANDER), we'll continue that fierce battle now in the Bundesliga!

the 3 teams that got relegated were HOFFENHEIM, ST. PAULI & STTUTGART

J Hernandez won the golden boot and was also MVP of the season (14 goals) and came in second place for assists (6, just 1 behind the 1st place)
Palmieri and Comotto were also included in the Best Eleven squad for D2

the overall season record was 23-3-9, with only 1 cup game played.. and as far as the goal record, it was 65-18 overall. Team world Ranking went from 52 to 25! that was a huge improvement wasn't it?

in the last match of the season i let Minanda play for the last 10-15mins and at the end of the match there was a nice animation of him waving goodbye since he'll be retiring by the end of the season, farewell Minanda!

Anyway, i got to buy new players:
Cervantes (CMF, joined) youth team
Buonanotte (AMF, transfer) 1,3mil
Nei (SB, transfer) 636 k
Lell (SB, joined) free agent
Taison (SS, joined) free agent
Mattsson (CB, joined) youth team

..and i had a hard time keeping Palmieri in my team, i had offers from the biggest clubs for over 4 mil!
but i shouldn't let go my captain yet, right?! or was i just being too selfish?

anyway, my new starting eleven will be this:

---------------A. Kone (CF)----------
------Shimizu (SS)-------------------
------------------G. dos Santos (RWF)
------------Diego (AMF)--------------
-----------------Jurado (CMF)--------
-------Babic (LWB)-------------------
----------------Sandro (DMF)---------
----------------------------Nei (RB)-
-------------------Marquez (SW)------
-------------Palmieri (CB)-----------
---------------Rensing (GK)----------

off to the 1st match, against Bayern Leverkusen!

i'll post again by half season

I see you drew your inspiration from the Rockstar logo ;-)
LOL yeah i actually took Rockstar Games' logo for inspiration.

well my 1st season in Bundesliga has been great!
i was hoping to get maybe an European competition spot and we're currently in 1st position, just 1 point ahead Bayern Munchen.. and in the cup semifinals!

as for the winter break i got the following players:
Dida (GK, joined) free agent
Wagner Love (CF, joined) free agent
Shawcross (CB, transfer) 3,6mil
Perin (GK, transfer) 656k
Kagawa (AMF, transfer) 2,2mil
Agbonlahor (SS, tranfer) 5,7mil - setting my club's record for the highest tranfer fee paid in it's short history!

and had to sell Diego (8,2mil) to Juventus, i hope he does great over there!

some of the players have been developing pretty good, and some i think are just hopeless (Ramsey) :(

the starting 11 for the second half of the season will be:

---------------Agbonlahor (CF)----------------
--Wagner Love (SS)--------G. dos Santos (SS)--
----------------Shimizu (AMF)-----------------
-Babic (LWB)-------------Ramsey (CMF)---------
-----------------Sandro (DMF)-----------------
------------------Shawcross (CB)--Nei (RB)----
--------------Palmieri (CB)-------------------
-------------------Dida (GK)------------------

Well better late than never, I've finally started a proper ML. Playing on Professional, as PES Utd but edited logos, kits, team name, stadium etc to my own team (Luton), and starting with default ML players. First thing I did was place a bunch of squad players on the transfer list, no takers, but signed two players; Palmieri and Schwarz. Both are currently by far my best players, Palmieri will be worth a small fortune in a season or two, and Schwarz has scored 11 in his first 11 starts. I'll also sign in January Shimizu and Pelaez from my youth team, with the eventual aim of selling them on for millions with any luck. I'll need it, starting as PES Utd, edited or not, means that your team starts with just 2.9 million in the bank and a fan base of 5000. It's gonna be a long road ahead.......but currently top of the table after 12 matches or so :)

The game though plays totally differently, all the players on my team and the AI's (division 2 teams at the moment) are all SO slow, awkward, downright terrible. It feels 'lower league', and with the empty crowds, it's actually rather good. Hoping to stay out in front at the top of the table, promotion to the Premier League and selling on some youth players should raise the bank balance considerably, and allow me to wheel and deal a little bit, currently barely my own youth players even want to sign for me!

Since you've started with ML default players, it might not be a bad idea to sign everyone from that first-season youth team ... if I'm not mistaken, all of them "should have bright future" :)

Yeah that might not be a bad idea, but funds are so low that the wages are too high. Shimizu demands £500,000 in wages a season! I really need to offload a ton of squad players who are just awful though. Well, in fact, most of the default players are awful.

Playing tonight, I started complaining that chances are becoming harder to come by, that players are not moving off the ball etc and randomly my players will hit passes nowhere near where I tell them, but then I remember it's because half of them are ranked between 45-55, and so they will sometimes hit balls that are nowhere near where I tell them. Can't wait to rank up my club a bit more and start to replace some of them.

The other thing I'm finding hard is the form arrows. The opposition have miles better form arrows both home and away, and playing anything near decent football away from home is seemingly impossible because half of them have purple arrows. Is this fixed by adding better coaching staff? That's another thing I can't wait to improve!

TBH, I haven't started yet proper long-term ML campaign with default players (it is on my to-do list, though :P)

Couple of months ago I just tried out the scenario which includes starting with default players, then offloading immediately crap-de-la-crap of the team and signing all 10 youth players. It can be done, but if I recall correctly, I started with one of the "lower" teams from Others Europe and my initial budget was probably around 5-6 millions.

When I finally start that campaign, my plan will be to keep all of them and build my team around them.

Better coaches will improve team form. Within the same level of coaching, you can choose between various types of coaches - some of them are particularly good in maintaining team form, some are not, as you'll see in their coaching stats. But yes, Lvl1 staff is next to useless.

That's good to know about the coaches, I desperately need the player form to even out. When some of my players are on purple arrows (every away game I have at least 3-5), they can barely run let alone do anything else, though it does allow for some hilarious moments. So far, off form players have managed to knock each other over, kick the ball at right angles to where I'd told them (one time resulting in smacking the ball square into a team mate's face), and my keeper letting in a dribbling shot pretty much through his legs.

The form thing seems to effect all aspects of a player's game, from accuracy to being physically akin to a hung over pub team player.

Maybe the form is poor because many of the players are awful, but yeah new coaches are desperately needed.

Even with higher ranked coaches, you'll always have better form at home. This year, game is coded to penalize you through form in away matches (in attempt to make away matches more difficult). Better coaches will reduce this penalty, but not completely. Plus, players with higher form stat (6 or higher) are more likely to get greens, oranges, perhaps even reds in away matches.

Upgrading my physio to one with a five star 'form' rating was the best couple of mill I've spent in my ML
