Master League Adventures and other ML stuff 2011!

Nice thread mates! In my ML team ive got a few spectacular players eg.: Messi at 102, Vandebuurd 104, Palmieri 100, Balotelli 99 and i got Schwarz who is someone you can bring from youth team with unbelievable stats for someone that barely plays (93 at 21Y). I must point out however that some decisions in this game are rather doubtfull to say the least. Man United for example, just offered me 14M for a 1 year loan on Pelaez (player from youth team, stats around 89) but Chelsea actually beat that by offering 23M for a loan on Schwarz! AHA They kept my team running by offering so much since a i have salary costs of around 70M by now, it was a relief for the chairman :D

Been playing ML with Parma, on my 4th season now.

In my 1st I got promoted to Serie A, finishing 2nd in Div 2.
In my 2nd, finished 5th and won the Coppa Italia against Juve.
On the 3rd I won the whole lot: UEFA Europa League, Serie A and Coppa Italia.
Now I'm midway leading Serie A by 3 points, was eliminated from Coppa Italia by Serie B regulars Chievo Verona... but knocked Barca out of CL to make it to the quarter finals! Talk about highs and lows :D

So, the game is not too challenging. Still, it feels much more fun and surprising than other versions. The CPU sometimes surprise you big time! During my title campaign I received a 4-0 battering on the hands of Lazio, without having a complaint about refereeing or scripted AI. Just a pure mauling

I'm enjoying it so far, but I have serious problems signing players on a Free Transfer. Anyone has a clue about this?

So the update is out shortly and Im creating the A League teams to over write the D2 league. I can create a Master League as one of my created teams and then try to take them to to the title and European cups etc? I wanted to play mainly with Adelaide United and not change the players much if I can, at least for the first season.

Any good tips for starting off in Master League? I have 11 Australian teams to create plus I might make a couple of Asian club sides or just edit the leagues to bring in some of the other clubs that don't have an assigned league, e.g. Bayern Munich etc. I can also import some of these teams into the PES League can't I? Fill it up with some real teams instead of the fake ones? If there's that many teams available.

Ok guys, quick question, I went a little crazy in the summer window of my ML and stupidly (it was 4 a.m. and I was sleepy so I have just a tiny excuse) spent waaaaaay to much money to secure Hamsik to my Ajax team. Also I just got Lavezzi. And a bunch of other guys. And next day, whammo I have to pay expenses and the budget is suddenly way below the line. To compensate, my doctor and a few more expenses are thrown out the window (done automatically). I was expecting a season of horror injuries, and that has come true but only for one of my starting 11, Gudjohnsen (16 weeks!!!) and the thing I am wondering is, if I can offload an expensive player mid-season (20 mill), will the game allow me to get a decent doctor back? Or can no one tell me as no one else has been stupid enough to get himself into this situation?

Can somebody help me?

I'm in my third season, first season got promoted from the 2nd league, this year finished 10th in the Premier league.

Having just started the third season, again I've got practically no sponsorship money. My wage bill is about 7 million a year and I've got about 2 million from my sponsors and my fans for the last two years.

is this normal? If so, how am I supposed to break even? I'm selling my star player every year, it's very irritating.

That must actually be fun. I would lik to have such a sponsor. Since i like to play with "litle" teams, selling your star player every year is very realistic.

Un fortunatelky i have a better sponsor. I shouldn't know what you should do.

Dude, you have to live with it now until next season. The game only allows you to change staff between July and September every season. You cannot change staff in between. Hang in there! :D

I've got a few problems of my own. I was running a pretty tight ship at first, having a small wage bill but still being successful (both financially and in terms of silverware).

But now I've started losing money... the market inflated and the wages are crazy! I signed Drogba looking to challenge for Champions League honours, but his wages represent 40% of the whole bill!
Also, Riquelme decided he wants loads of money and I'm afraid even of trying to negotiate with him, cause he might leave on a free (has happened with another player before, not pleasant) and I cannot afford to let 15M euros fly out the window like that...

Others are asking too much on their renovations too... Is that anything to do with Drogba's salary? Is he cracking up the dressing room?

To compensate potential losses, I wanted to sign a few good players on a free transfer. I'm not asking for Ibrahimovic, just decent players... but there never seems to be anyone decent left :(
It's only when players put their contracts on hold that you have a chance to get them on a free. I got N'Gog from Liverpool like that, but he's just average...
Anyone knows what to do to get more decent players on free transfers?

Thanks Rentboy. Man, that is harsh! You should see the look on my face every time a player gets hacked down by someone. Although the bad injuries usually happen by random in training. Having Gudjohnsen out may not seem too bad but the guy has been legendary for me and was MVP last season in the Dutch League.

If you are looking for cheap players, some decent ones pop up in your youth teams every now and then, for very little money. Often with stats around the 70's, may not seem like much but sometimes they develop into something special.

Ajax Amsterdam has been doing quite well, even with the judgement errors the management made. Playing 3-5-2, key players being Steinsson (sort of a right bacak in a three man defence), Veloso, the powerful DM and Luis Garcia has had quite a comeback as an AMF/SS just behind the two forwards. De Zeeuw and Duff share left wing duties, and Lavezzi does the scoring, although in stiff competition with Garcia. His partner for now is Gutierrez, since Gudjohnsen is injured. Also, Hamsun has had good runs too.
a little to the left of the midfield between the left wing and Garcia is a player named Cassano and on the right wing (more like a right CMF) there is Hamsik. These have both disappointed. Admittedly they may not be in their best positions but I have switched them all around the place they have not had the impact that you usually see from strong players. Cassano was relatively cheap but Hamsik literally broke the bank, as reported earlier.

This team is sailing through the CL group (and it's a tough group with Chelsea and Atletico Madrid), only needing 1 point from last two games to end up on top. The cup is still in full swing although I have decided to mostly use the weaker players for it (even had a surprise hattrick from Hamsun to win one round) and in the League they are on top, although for now it's on goal difference only. And it's quite a goal difference too, but just when I think I'm about to murder the next team 5-0 something odd happens and I barely manage a draw. Nothing cheat-ish, but something that has kept Ajax from breaking away from the rest.

Tell me about it! I've only had one player with such a serious injury and it was Espimas, so no major worries. But having a main player out for as long as 6 months is terrifying! I sympathise with you :)

I noticed that the worse injuries happened during training. The ones during matches are 3 or 4 weeks at most.

Oh, as for the Youth system, I think I got the best ones already: Palmieri, Shimizu, Schwarz, Schmidt, Pelaez and Ribeiro! :D
Well, Ribeiro is a 2m00 tall Brazilian forward who's not really good, but he worked as my Plan B. But nowadays he barely plays.

I'm disappointed with the Youth system because at some point I wasted 10M euros on it (maxed it) and it returned me poor players with overall ratings on the 50's. I didn't expect it pay off immediately, but c'mon, at least throw me a bone here!

Also, what annoys me about the youth system is having retired players respawning there... Now I have Colombian legendary keeper Oscar Cordoba as a 17 year old and 20-year-old Finnish striker Forssell. I'm not signing them just for the sake of authencity. Why can't Konami spawn new players from the scratch??

i have been playing with teams like cardiff, blackpool and because of such tight budgets, i cant really dig in to the transfer market much. even the players i have, the good ones, because of their high salary demands, i am forced to sell them as soon as i get the right deals..

i heavily rely on my youth players. they have come out good for me. actually it depends on the gameplay as well, like if u play to players strength, if u rely on individuals, u need to have players with those special cards with them, when u play with more physical presence, like to hold on to the ball, u need the height and power in your players, (youth system players lack these in the starting). and If ur gameplay is just take a touch and pass, move fast,(like me) then i think these youth players come good.

the training methods i use is focussed on defence, as i play one touch football, lot of movements, therefore my defence needs to be at their best. Also my players turn a bit defensive, but since i play pass and move more, i hardly feel the need of all the players coming forward.

Running with players is rare for me, therefore these youth team players have been decent for me. its the matter of compromise also as really cant afford players, which are better than mines and at less salaries ... managing is tough, specially when your club in the first season only cant retain players because of losses!

Sounds like me mate, but I thought my fincances was down to an error, rather then the game just been like that.

What season are you in, and what's your sponsorship money like?

Budget is very tight indeed in the beginning. My ML with Parma I had little money at first. As I remember it, what helped me a lot financially was securing Diego, who was a free agent. He did great, I wanted to keep him, but Roma later came with a 22M euros offer and that was too good to turn down. Got the money, signed Giovinco for like 3M and kept the rest to invest in staff and structure.

So my advice is keep your eyes peeled for free agents or players who might be cheap. Some will have their market value increased exponentially.

Oh, did you guys come across individual sponsorships yet?
Recently, my team got sponsorship from a food company and the contract is tied to Riquelme playing for me. The clause for breaking contract is Riquelme leaving the team. If he features in at least 40 fixtures, there's a bonus. I thought this was pretty cool.

Precisely, this kind of sponsor. I suppose if you sell him, this sponsorship ends?

My private contract is not too lucrative though, I think it's just over 1M.

I'm doing my editing on Xbox.
You can create Adelaide and stick them in a league of your choice. You can create a div 1 and div 2 with mixed teams.

That is what i'm doing i will have 3 mixed leagues.
I will start as Racing Genk in division 2 with team Belgian, German, Scandinavian, Swiss and Austrian teams. Division 1 (PES) will have teams from the same countries.
And then there will be a European division with all the other teams: Eastern European, Portugese, Greek and Turkish teams, with some created Russian and Portugese teams.

Hey Gerd, how you doing mate? I've been working hard and have almost created the strips and logo's for all 11 Australian teams. I have all the stats available from Football Manager which I am in the process of converting to PES stats.

Just another couple of questions though with regards to making the mixed leagues.
- I want to play a Master League and use Adelaide United. So I will import 7 other teams into my league to make up 18 real teams.
- Can I then choose any league to use as my division 1 so I can be promoted into it? Or does it have to be D2 and PES league and then change the structure of those leagues by importing teams etc.
- When you change the structure of the D2 or PES league, do the fake teams go into the slots previously occupied by the real team (either assigned to a real league or into a free agent kind of spot)?

Hopefully my questions make sense! Almost there and ready to play offline :) Although I want to try taking my team to the title without making too many team changes to start with hehe ;)

You can choose any league as division one.
And as far as i understand your second question, yes i think the fake teams go into the slots occupied by the real teams. But in the edit mode you can change the structure of your leagues. You can change as many teams as you want. I changed all the fake teams in real teams, which took an awfull long time, but i'm really happy with it now.

I am currently in my second season with Racing Genk. Genk were champions in division two.
I only lost one player: Vanden Borre was bought by Bayern Munchen.

I transferred Nikolic (SMF) from Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Beograd).
Yanga Mbiwa from Montpellier (CB)
Araujo from Boca Juniors (SS)
Marcos Cammozato (SB) from Club Brugge.

Currently Racing Genk are second, 4 points behind Bayern Munchen. Genk haven't lost a single match, but have drawn matches against Offenheim, Kaiserslautern and AA Gent.
In the Cup we had to play Bayern Munchen and lost 4-3 in the last minute of the prolongations with a very freakish goal after a fantastic match, one of the most thrilling i've ever played in PES.

Jelle Vossen is currently top scorer with 8 goals.

Beautiful :) thanks for your help again! Sounds like you are having lots of fun with it! You are doing well :)

I hope within a week or two to have all my kits finished and the player stats done so I can start offline Master League. Online MLO is fun but the lag kills it for me sometimes. I really enjoy the offline games, especially with some of the middle tier teams. More unpredictable than playing with the same old super teams and you don't know where the next goal is coming from or who might score. It's great!

Bought messi for 125 million, 19million salary.. sold at next window for 85million.. he is great, but god damn 19 million salary..crazy..

One advice, ML is much more fun with modest players.
I haven't a single player with an overall rating above 75 and i'm second in division one.
As much as i like Messi IRL, i would never buy him in the ML.
I also have a personal rule that if a club positioned higher tham my club does a bid for one of my players, i let him go (with a maximum of 3 players in the same transfer window).

By doing this i try to emulate the FM feeling (and that is a game that is more immersive than PES).

Hi Guys!
Am currently 13 games into my 9th Season on Master league, in the English premier League with my made up team of Milton Keynes FC (My Home town).
My squad ratings range from 68 through to 90, no massive names, but players I have nurtured up from the youth ranks or bought and developed, my star player is Welliton, a former Brazilian national who bagged 26 goals in 34 games for me last season, where i finished 11th.
Am currently 3rd in the table 3 points behind the leaders chelsea, who have a ridiculous squad, and crashed out of the FA cup 2-1 away to Boca Juniors after a very tight thrilling game.
Also play in a customised stadium, with the style of a tight, compact aged mid tier div 2 stadium, but have set myself a rule that if i qualify for europe this year I will move into a newly designed bigger more modern looking stadium.
My current shirt sponsors are Acer and kit manufacturers Nike, with their respective adboardings all round my ground.

Master League just gives so much immersion and involvement that its easy to get deeply involved and start to care about players and results, its what sets PES apart from any other footy game i think, the complete difference between individual player statistics.

Isn't Milton Keynes where the F1 factories are for Williams or Mercedes? Or both? lol....Can't wait for the Formula 1 to kick off this weekend here in Australia :)

Love the passion shown by you guys towards this mode. Hopefully I will be the same once I kick off shortly. With the shirt sponsors, how does that work? Do they have real logo's come up on your shirt?

Hi Calcio - yeah MK is home to the formula one teams and the MK Dons!!! lol

As for shirt sponsors, sorry i should have elaborated, its not an in game thing or a facet of Master League, i just design my own kits in Photoshop then load them in, i change both home and away shirts every 2 seasons, so on those designs i have Nike, with my Acer Logo and custom team badge, i'll upload a screenshot later showing what i mean.

Awesome...I want to visit Maranello one day..maybe Milton Keynes ;) hehe. Go the DONS! lol
I am creating an Australian League with my own shirt sponsors also (as in their real sponsors). A lot harder/more time consuming on Xbox but worth the effort so far. I was just hoping that they didnt change on my via Master League sponsorship deals. Sounds like I was worried for nothing ;) haha thanks guys. I will let you know when I kick off and tell you of my goodluck or hardluck stories!

Calcio, how is the editing on the XBOX? you cant just pop in a USB stick with the images on can you ?
I know DAYMOS creates xbox option files but one of the reasons i always buy PES on PS3 and not XBOX is because of the editing restrictions.

Currently lying in 2nd place behind Chelsea with 16 games gone in my ML Campaign.
on a run of 5 games unbeaten, 4 of them being wins, hoping to cement at LEAST a champions league spot with this kind of form but worst case scenario is a top 7 finish and qualification for the Europa league.

Nah you can't do it off USB on Xbox. Darn Microsoft!!! Shame really. Someone should tell Microsoft they lose game sales to Playstation because of that....like they'd care!

But if you have an Xbox camera and some patience...or take some time drawing in the logo's manually, you can create some pretty decent strips.

I wish they would create an online editor so you can change names, emblems, strips etc from the web and then upload it to your console. Now that would be awesomeeeeeeeeeeee!

Wabak, we dont mean installing the option file. We mean creating teams and changing teams by loading pictures on a USB stick and importing it to a shirt etc. Can do this on PS3 but not on Xbox :(
