More on Obi Mikel
Thursday, September 1, 2005
Nigeria Football Association head Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima: "We know the implications of FIFA's ruling on Mikel Obi and that was why we informed his club Lyn Oslo that visa problems wouldn't let him fly in last Friday as mandated by the club.
"As it is now, both Mikel Obi and Chinedu Ogbuke, who have both been away from their clubs for some months now, would return to their clubs on Tuesday. They would depart Lagos to Norway on Tuesday aboard a KLM flight. We wouldn't want Obi to run foul of FIFA's directive to him to return to his club, that is why we are making sure the boys head back for Norway by Tuesday."
There are no reports that John Obi Mikel has yet retunred
[15] Nigeria want Obi Mikel to play in match
Thursday, September 1, 2005
“Mikel hasn’t returned yet to Norway due to problems he is having with securing a visa. He would definitely return back to Norway this week, all things being equal since he knows the gravity of denying FIFA’s intruction to rejoin his club.
“We have asked Lyn Oslo to give him some time, but we also faxed them a letter reassuring them that he would definitely return back to Norway this week so as not to contravene FIFA’s order. But my fear, is that Lyn Oslo through their Sports Director Morgan Andersen would be the ones to release him for the Algeria match when he gets there.
“We’ve been pleading with Andersen, to please allow Mikel be part of the Eagles squad of Algeria and I hope he accepts our plea. But the truth is that Mikel’s fate as to his availability for the match in Algeria on September 4, lies in the hands of Morgan Andersen the Sports Director of his club."

[14] Alleged Obi Mikel family member on John riches

"Mikel is most prudent when it comes to financial management. He is looking at the future, hence he is investing in landed property. So it is not out of sense for him to have bought three houses - one storey building and two bungalows - all in highbrow areas of Jos aside the one he is building in the village.
"I am not an Estate agent nor Estate surveyor. But if you ask me, non of the bungalows would go for anything less than N6m each while the storey building should be over N8m. I am aware that Manchester United are yet to pay him because all the financial involvement of the contract he signed with them were paid to Morgan Anderson, the Lyn Oslo Manager who is yet to release them to Mikel.
"So if you ask me I would say that it is not out of place if he is still being paid by Chelsea. It is most probable, given the volume of investment he is presently making. Remember also that he recently bought a Jeep with a value of N7.6m and a Honda car to his football mentor, Babawo."

"On many occasions than one we have sat down together to discuss the Mikel's transfer issue. And on each sitting we told him to go to Manchester and save himself these negative controversies which we believe is not good for his career at this age."
"The truth is that Mikel excitedly loved the contract he signed with Manchester United. He was also happy with the financial remunerations too. But the problem arose when his Manager, John Ola Shittu felt slighted that the contract was signed behind his back. He felt his interest was not represented or carried along especially as he was eyeing a bigger money from Chelsea."
