Not really, when they show the formations on MOTD and Sky before the game, they always shove him out as a left winger, which he never is and never does. He roams along the penalty box left to right, he has no fixed position in terms of left, right or central.
I agree.
When you watch Rooney play, it seems like he doesnt care what his position is, he just wants to be involved in the game as much as possible. And you might notice that he's always pissed off if he's subbed off and he hasnt scored in the game.

He's a perfect example of a competative player. Always wants to be a winner, whether its to win the match or to get one over Ruud on their goal tally.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Derby Week, Dont ya Love It!!!

Well although its international week (ya can stick ya fuckin england up ya arse!!) we have a game to look forward to at weekend....

The Derby!!!!

Its always great to play (and pretty much always beat) Siddy, but this time we have an added incentive, to nick their place in the league.

Pearcy reckons they are gonna come to win (yeah right they'd take a point now if they could) but we all know he'll pack midfield and play for the draw or to not get embarrassed (damage limitation I think they call it)

We as usual will go all out for it and with Siddy winning 3 (thats 3) derbies in the last 20 years I'm backing us to stuff the bertie bitter bastards!!

Bring it On!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Derby Week, Dont ya Love It!!!

I heard yesterday that Solskjaer's contract expires at the end of this season.

What do you guys think the club should do?

I hope he can play for one more season and hopeflly lift a trophy with us. We owe it to him.
And then hopefully he'd stay on here as a coach cuz he has so much knowledge to give.

Ole wont play for the club again, its hard for the club cos they know what he means to fans so as PR issue they are not gonna be hard on the lad, he will continue at the club in some capacity (if he wants).

He will make an excellent coach and has already started his badges....

For me he'll be future manager of FC United!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Derby Week, Dont ya Love It!!!

Feel sorry for the guy. He said he still hopes to play for his country too.

I'm sure he'll play this season after Christmas even if its only a few games. IMO, we should judge him from that, then give him another one year extension and take it from there.

Sir Alex says that the way 4-3-3 is supposed to work is that when one wing is on the ball, the other is supposed to wait in the box along with Ruud. But our wingers dont really do that. I'm sure if Solskjaer played on the wing, he could provide and get into the box to support Ruud. 4-3-3 suits Ole as much as anyone.

If he's got something to offer the team I'm sure Fergie will play him, but I know for a fact that Ole will not play if he's not 100%.

Your right he's alot more productive on the right than ronaldo, ronaldos good but he's so frustrating.

No suprise that last time we won the title Ole played on the right and was vital.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Derby Week, Dont ya Love It!!!

With the WC Qualifiers, do you think players will be rested for the derby?

Should be interesting to play a City side without SWP. I'm expecting United to brush them aside.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Derby Week, Dont ya Love It!!!

And pigs might fly there will be no brushing a side on Saturday! and id be very very suprised to see anyone rested for it..! Im sure i read last week that ole has has another setback something about a tear around his knee!

I don't understand why Fergie insists on resting players all the time. It has come back to haunt you so many times.

If you rest players against city you don't deserve to win.

What type of quote is that?? If we rest players and still stroll away with a victory,it just shows we got great depth in the squad.I dont think Fergie will rest any of his first XI for the derby,I think if we were leading comfortably, then he will rest the likes of Keano and Rooney perhaps.

If you rest players for your local derby you're showing complete contempt for an unbeaten team in good form.

You don't deserve to win games if that is your attitud in my opinion.

Patrick Vieira

"I know him well and there has been quite a lot of tension between us on the pitch, but we respect each other. "It always ended with us shaking hands at the end of the match. I know he will be tough with me (on Wednesday) and I will be tough with him too. He is a very determined man, like me."

lol I used to think of Paddy as a "hard man" in football but from the moment he dummied up when Keano (he wears a magic hat) had a go at him in his own (at the time) stadium I lost alot of respect for him.

Terry Henry on Keane

"People often talk about Roy Keane as if he was a hooligan, but the lad knows how to play football. Yes, he is aggressive. Yes, he is cantankerous. Yes, if the ball is between him and you in midfield, he makes you jump. But beyond that, he is a super footballer. He scores, he influences his team and the crowd. He'll be respected for ever. He is a football legend with Republic of Ireland and Manchester United."

A report form a Manc in South America....

Heinze on Argentinian tv
Tuesday, September 6, 2005

Just saw the end of Gabi Heinze being interviewed on an Argentinian football program. I only caught the end but he said how happy he was in England. The interviewer said that Man Utd and the Premiership were huge in S America etc and that RVN wouldn´t be able to walk through the streets of Colombia without being swamped. They asked him which of utd´s players would he take to be on his team in a game of football tennis (the interviewer thought ronaldo), but gabi said paul scholes. never actually saw him get interviewed in english in the UK, but he seems like a really nice guy.

Another Red gives Scholsey his props....

Fletch....

"Scholes has been one of the best players in the world and still is. He's the most naturally gifted player I have seen in my life."

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Derby Week, Dont ya Love It!!!

Wenger dreams of doing an "us" (and not just our trophy haul)

"My hope and conviction is that we are building something here along the lines of what United did. Their exceptional generation of young players reached new levels and it's up to my young players to prove they have what it takes.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Derby Week, Dont ya Love It!!!

Wheres that Jamie Mack!!

Derby day: Fergie favoured by debutants
SIR Alex Ferguson will go into his 27th competitive Manchester derby this weekend - aware he has a hex over incoming City managers.

Of the seven managers to take over at City during Ferguson's 19 years in power, only Kevin Keegan and Mel Machin have won their debut derby clash with United.

And overall Ferguson has won 15 and lost just three of his 26 derby matches so far.

Only Mel Machin and Kevin Keegan can boast debut derby victories over Ferguson - albeit in impressive style.

Machin's first encounter with the Reds was the 5-1 home win at Maine Road, while Keegan oversaw the 3-1 victory in the last derby at City's old ground.

Pearce's predecessor is the most successful City boss to face Fergie - boasting two wins and two draws over United.

Ferguson's home record in derby matches is similarly impressive, having never lost to City at Old Trafford.

Fifteen of the competitive ties have been at home, and two thirds of those have been victories.

His first derbies at Old Trafford came within two months of each other - a one-nil victory in the FA Cup and a 2-0 victory in the old first division.

Ole will return, says Neville
REDS defender Gary Neville has backed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to overcome his injury problems and make it back to the first team.

The Norwegian had looked set to be ready for action in October after being out for nearly two years - a brief cameo at the end of the 2003/04 season aside - with an horrific knee injury.

It emerged last week, however, that the United hero has suffered another tear to his knee which has seen his comeback postponed indefinitely by his doctor.

But Neville is still hopeful Solskjaer, in the last year of his current contract with United, will play for the club again and wants to be on the pitch to witness it.

The England full-back told MUTV: "I hope we will have him back soon. I sit next to him in the changing room and he is genuinely one of the nicest lads you'll ever meet.

"For 12 to 14 months he has slogged in that gym like you wouldn't believe from nine in the morning till three.

"That might not seem like long hours but to be in a gym every day for 12 months, when you're a footballer, he's just giving it his all.

"If anyone can come back from the injury he's had it will be him because he has been so professional and has done everything perfectly.

"I still think we will see him out there again in a United shirt and I hope I'm on the pitch that night because he will get probably the most incredible reception any player has ever had in the history of Old Trafford.

"He scored the winning goal in the European Cup final, he will always be one of the legends of Manchester United. There are spine-tingling moments that this place can give you, and I'm pretty confident he will have that moment (of coming back). I can see him scoring a goal for United again."
