Stop talking nonsense. Like you say you don't even support a team so you wouldn't understand. 8)

What is there to understand?. And how is it nonsense?.

And why else do Chelsea buy players, to have them cleaning the fucking boot room?. If it is the WAY they buy players that ruin sport, then every club is ruining the sport because they buy players they want.

"We're supposed to make fun of Arsenal, complain about Chelsea being boring and admire the great talent at United especially the underrated ones like Fletcher."

No, you're supposed to complain about Arsenal and Chelsea being better than Man UTD.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

These days, Chelsea are buying players just to stop other teams from having them. So not only are they improving their own team but they are stopping other teams from improving. And just when you think you've finally signed someone, they wave the cash in the players face and steal them from under your noses.
If thats not annoying then what is?
And you come here wondering why people hate Chelsea? Are you blind or something?

More on Obi Mikel
Thursday, September 1, 2005

Nigeria Football Association head Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima: "We know the implications of FIFA's ruling on Mikel Obi and that was why we informed his club Lyn Oslo that visa problems wouldn't let him fly in last Friday as mandated by the club.

"As it is now, both Mikel Obi and Chinedu Ogbuke, who have both been away from their clubs for some months now, would return to their clubs on Tuesday. They would depart Lagos to Norway on Tuesday aboard a KLM flight. We wouldn't want Obi to run foul of FIFA's directive to him to return to his club, that is why we are making sure the boys head back for Norway by Tuesday."

There are no reports that John Obi Mikel has yet retunred

[15] Nigeria want Obi Mikel to play in match
Thursday, September 1, 2005

“Mikel hasn’t returned yet to Norway due to problems he is having with securing a visa. He would definitely return back to Norway this week, all things being equal since he knows the gravity of denying FIFA’s intruction to rejoin his club.

“We have asked Lyn Oslo to give him some time, but we also faxed them a letter reassuring them that he would definitely return back to Norway this week so as not to contravene FIFA’s order. But my fear, is that Lyn Oslo through their Sports Director Morgan Andersen would be the ones to release him for the Algeria match when he gets there.

“We’ve been pleading with Andersen, to please allow Mikel be part of the Eagles squad of Algeria and I hope he accepts our plea. But the truth is that Mikel’s fate as to his availability for the match in Algeria on September 4, lies in the hands of Morgan Andersen the Sports Director of his club."

[14] Alleged Obi Mikel family member on John riches
Thursday, September 1, 2005

"Mikel is most prudent when it comes to financial management. He is looking at the future, hence he is investing in landed property. So it is not out of sense for him to have bought three houses - one storey building and two bungalows - all in highbrow areas of Jos aside the one he is building in the village.

"I am not an Estate agent nor Estate surveyor. But if you ask me, non of the bungalows would go for anything less than N6m each while the storey building should be over N8m. I am aware that Manchester United are yet to pay him because all the financial involvement of the contract he signed with them were paid to Morgan Anderson, the Lyn Oslo Manager who is yet to release them to Mikel.

"So if you ask me I would say that it is not out of place if he is still being paid by Chelsea. It is most probable, given the volume of investment he is presently making. Remember also that he recently bought a Jeep with a value of N7.6m and a Honda car to his football mentor, Babawo."

[13] Quotes from alleged Obi Mikel family member
Thursday, September 1, 2005

"On many occasions than one we have sat down together to discuss the Mikel's transfer issue. And on each sitting we told him to go to Manchester and save himself these negative controversies which we believe is not good for his career at this age."

"The truth is that Mikel excitedly loved the contract he signed with Manchester United. He was also happy with the financial remunerations too. But the problem arose when his Manager, John Ola Shittu felt slighted that the contract was signed behind his back. He felt his interest was not represented or carried along especially as he was eyeing a bigger money from Chelsea."

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

SO maybe he'd be happy playng for us after all.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

Im totally backing runeedge here as he seems the only one here with logic and understandin of the game. I agree with him on severa issues concerning chelsea stealing best players away from teams who intially wanted to buy the player simlar to what real madrid do il name examples for those ignorant people who just want to argue.

Shaun wright philips. Arsenal show interest then chelsea make bid
Essian, United were linkied and showed interest chelsea make bid
Robben, on his way to agreeing terms with United, chelsea come along and shoiw him the money
Jon obi mikel; yep this one alos almost got stolen by chelsea
Park ji sung, After united show interest mourinho wants him also.

Im also glad im not the only one who thinks fletcher is underrated as i had to have silly debate withh that man city supporting trying to tell me about my own team, saying fletcher cant do a job in midfield when cleary he has done the job for us in the last 3matches of the start of the season, im sure Alex ferguson wouldnt put him in the team if he didnt think the guy was good enough.

Im completly mythed by how a moderator of football forum has to ask why united pick ronaldo! lol.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

Sir Alex said that his motivation for staying at Man Utd is because he wants to see Rooney, Ronaldo and Fletcher develop.
The fact that he sees Fletcher in the same league as Rooney and Ronaldo in terms of potential is really saying something about the player.

You really have to be a football fan and be able to analyse the game to appreciate what Fletcher does for the team. Football is not all about passing, shooting etc. Fletcher does much more like holding the midfield, tracking back at the right times, his crosses arent bad, he can get down the flank at times, he seems to be a great all rounder. People dont look at that and then start judging players like Fletcher.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

Exactly, fletcher reminds me a bit like how lampard plays which is good becuase not alot of people started to notice lampard ability until he started scoring goals and when chelsea started to really threaten. In time fletcher will be able to do the same, he got s couple goals last season, Im sure there is more in his boots but right now im pleased, the guy works so hard. You rarely see him out of postition, he uses the ball efficiently and as you said he tracks back, also rooney and ronaldo and park track back which is good for the team.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

Thats true about Lampard only being noticed since he started scoring goals. But in Fletcher's defence, he's not playing in the type of position that allows him to score.
But yo're right, he'd get more respect if he suddenly started scoring.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

Lets face it his not good enough.Fergies pushing average youngsters through. Apart from Rooney,Ronaldo and Rossi maybe Pique (but i'm not convinced) United youngsters ain't good enough.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

He's not good enough AT THE MOMENT. Theres a difference.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

How long you gonna give him. This is something like his 3rd-4th season and he is still a fringe player. He is obviously not rated.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

Fringe player? Correct me if I'm wrong but hasnt he started like EVERY Premiership game this season?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

BBC's got an article that Ole's torn something in his knee again. Stupid knee, can't they just give him a new one ;)

I hate that he's hurt of course, but really wish it had happened like 2 weeks ago in the midst of all the Owen talk. Alas, now we have Ole and Saha as backup strikers. If its a windy at Old Trafford, Ruud and Rooney will just have to play all game, or else injuries abound.

Fletcher's got potential, I don't think he's quite as good as Fergie imagines him, yet. He's definitely tackling better this season, and I like the way he's not afraid to try long, penetrating passes from his first touch. His shooting still leaves a bit to be desired, but I think it is better than Ronaldo's. I cannot work out why someone so talented cannot shoot the damn ball towards goal. The Newcastle game, he had an open net to just curl the ball into, and he almost hit the damn corner flag, plus his form was absurd, he like snapped it with the outside of his foot and jumped up after hitting it. Someone needs to sit him down with Ruud and teach him to be calm in goal scoring opportunties...

The lad is coming along just nicely, he found his scoring boots towards the end of the season but like you say he doesnt have the same role as lampard although we'll see him get forward more this year.

I reckon once Keano leaves Fletcher will shine more....

Giggs comes up with first interesting quote of his life
Friday, September 2, 2005

"Roy Keane is Damien, the devil incarnate. He's evil. Even in training."

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

Beachryan,c'monnn...not every player has a vicious shot like Lampard or Scholes. An eye for goals and a good shot is a natural ability not any player could possess.Other than that,I think Fletcher has a good engine and had one of the best passing ability amongst our midfield players.I've said it before and I said it again,Fletcher does reminds me of a young Beckham. He has started almost every game now and he looks to continue being an integral part of our trio midfield formation.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

I think Beachryan was talking about Ronaldo when he was criticizing his shooting, not Fletcher.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

Its true, I was talking about Ronaldo's shooting. Fletchers getting better, had that nice goal Scholes set him up for right into bottom corner, and slammed the crossbar against Cheslea. Ronaldo takes at leat 5/6 shots a game, and still only like 1 (if he's lucky) is on target. Needs work.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

My bad...but its the same case of Fletcher innit? He doesnt shoots well either. If its Ronaldo's case,I must admit also,he hasnt found his shooting boots and I think I have a theory to that. The lad's just too fast!..Look at Lamps and Scholes, they arent the fastest player around, they have more time, more touch of the ball, more time to strike it cleanly.Until Ronnie found his composure and improved his decision making,I'm sure the goals will come, dont forget,he didnt want to lose the bet he made with the gaffer for the second season running,10 goals and he'll get the 50 pounds wager.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

I agree with the fact that Ronaldo's shooting needs work, but at the national side he is usually closer to the striker, kind of a second striker, and scores alot for our national side. But at Man that role belongs to rooney.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

Brazilian star Ronaldo says Wayne Rooney will be the star of next year's World Cup.

The Real Madrid man was top scorer as Brazil landed a record sixth World Cup win in Korea and Japan in 2002, and he believes Rooney will be the star of the next finals in Germany.

Ronaldo has backed the 19-year-old Manchester United striker to fire England to the finals in Germany, before starring in the tournament.

"In Wayne Rooney England have a player who can be one of the stars of the World Cup in Germany," Ronaldo told The Sun.

"He is a special talent, he's extremely strong and he has the quality to be England's main player.

"Rooney also makes scoring wonderful goals look easy. I see no reason why he will not have a great tournament."

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

I read this yesterday. And I kinda agree with Ronaldo.

But the thing about Rooney is that you have to let him play whever he wants to. During Euro 2004, he was a forward but recently, he's being played in positions that he's not used to which explains why he wasnt such a threat against Wales.
Rooney is supposed to be a provider, not someone like Ruud who waits for service.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

very true, rooney is similar to how Henry plays dont you think? Rooneys game is based on roaming around getting into dangerous positions, finding gaps creating chances and of course scoring, he is not a target man like owen or van the man.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

Rooney reminds me of Scholes from around 1995. Difference is Fergie moulded him from a striker into a midfielder.

Doesn't SAF have Rooney playing more of a midfield sort of role already?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - So Obi is coming to OT??

Not really, when they show the formations on MOTD and Sky before the game, they always shove him out as a left winger, which he never is and never does. He roams along the penalty box left to right, he has no fixed position in terms of left, right or central.
