Your right cuz Sir Alex said in an interview that coaches have found ways to counter his tactics which is why he decided to use the 4-3-3.beachryan said:We'll have to see if they can continue, or if over the summer coaches will work out startegies to counter the way they play, whcih has happened to United over the past few years I think.

i think you have left one part out of his game, that you failed to note, his passing is sublime for a center forward.. it really is, i still say he has loads of potential, and he will become a great player by wc 2010... but i see your points and i respect them, his hat trick against fernerbache was stuff only legends can do.. simply unreal....Don Domenico said:Don't worry, I was simply waiting for someone(you) to post something I could react to.
Anyway, now for my long awaited 'rant'(although it'll be a short one) on Wayne Rooney:
It's pretty tough to really write Rooney without contradicting my self, but i'll try.
Wayne Rooney, although already a succesfull young footballer isn't all that he is turned out to be. The player is packed with a fierce shot and some amazing determination, yet is he a very one sided player: Although Ferguson tends to play him in different roles (behind the striker, or in the 4-3-3 or as point-man) , he always does the same : he simply shoots at goal.
In the premiership it sometimes may look like he performs some amazing dribbles, but I see them simply as straightforward running through not-so tight defences. You could argue against my statement that Rooney has a tendency to perform against 'stronger' opposition in the EPl. When it really mattered though against Milan, he was near invisible both legs.
The thing I most dislike about Rooney though, is the english media and his HYPE. Rooney may well be a very fine player, the problem is that it's all being taken out of proportion and Rooney is hyped out of this galaxy.
After his first goal at ec04 all the newspapers immediately compared him to the likes of Pepe, proposterious really. Also the way people tend to follow the hypes and also proclaim Rooney as an amazing player simply irritates me, as to me it shows a certain ignorance to forming an own oppinion. A player like Ronaldinho is 20x times the player Rooney is, yet you don't see him in all the headlines. Some serious media Bias.
The thing is though, Rooney HAS proven himself as a player on the pitch(though he is a troublemaker and a little spoiled). Scoring some cracking goals and hardwork allows him to seriously contribute to man utd.'s overall teamplay. As I can't take away his noteworthy four goals at ec04 or his hatrick in the CL after a 3 months injury lay-off.
I have seen him show several dismal performances this season though, and whenever someone critisizes a 'young' player and/or asks for him to be benched you get all those excuses: "he is young blabla"(like against the milan match). Simply logic is though no matter the circumstances a player who isn't good enough should be benched, you should not simply be played because you're 'young'.
All in all, Rooney is a fine player(not special), simply far from as good as the hype makes him out to be though.
(As I had written in the liverpool thread though, the one I really have some beef with is Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo besides being overhyped isn't even a fine player..)
I dont think Owen was hyped up as much as Rooney. Rooney is getting more hype than anyone in football history.Milanista said:I dont know too much about Owen but wasnt he hyped up as much as Rooney when he was around the same age? And now hes left England after mediocre performances?
