Alright mate,no more qualms.We are a bit blunt in attack these days,thats why we're bidding for Rooney which could give out new options in attack.Hats off to Smith,hes been workin his ass off,5 goals in 5 games now.Whomever siad that he's the new Diego Forlan must be eating back his sorry words now,painfully.
 
I agree with the finishing, most of the shots were hit frustratingly straight at the keeper, but we deserved that bit of luck for the goal, should have won the game but with 30 seconds to go and 1-0 down, im not going to argue with a draw ;)

BTW i think smith is a bargain at £7m already :)
 
Smith was a GREAT BUY!!!!!! totally worth it all!!!!!!

well, i would say that it was luck...and luckily we still have some!!! BUT let's be honest...it's way too early to say we lost the league...and also...yes i will say this, Our best strikers are still injured...not using it as a reason to blame or anything, but honestly...Smith was the only attacking force, thus, he scored!!! But i am sure that Quieroz and Fergie will know how to train them for Monday's game...well, actually, for the rest of the games...(i doubt they will practise tomorrow??)
 
alright, as i read some of those posts, i feel sorry that i live in canada and didnt have a chance to reply to it and stop this nonsense. as a devoted manchester united supporter, i'd ask you all (mostly the united fans) to honestly look back upon this fixture as a lesson well learnt. im sorry phrase mate, we can't and shouldn't be around the top of the premiership if we continue to call ourselves the comeback kings or whatever. the premiership is about consistancy, saha/kleber/scholesy/giggsy/smitty all had multiple chances to put us ahead, but to no avail. i hate to always bring down this place, but we can't be over-confident. on the other side, it is only the third prem game of this campaign, with another coming just under 48 hours from now.

i just feel that calling tonight's game a success would not be doing ourselves justice. i taped this game because of a prior commitment and managed to watch the arse-norwich match simoultaneously and ive got to admit, during those 18 or so minutes when the gooners banged in 3 consecutive gols, i was quite disappointed. being the club that blackburn were, plus the double yellow that saw off amoruso, PLUS having seen paul dickov (who imo was their preformer of the night along with freidal) being taken off, all this should have guarenteed three points for us.

hope you lot understand where im coming from...

i seen your match on MOTD and i have to say i think its an awful decision, i havent got a clue how you got that extra one minute and then have the cheek to handle it back to smith to put it in, in that minute you robbed.

i think blackburn should lodge a complaint as it is a well known fact Man utd cheat, and this match summed it all up.

If I wasn't a United supporter i'd be outraged to be honest. The 3 minutes entered on the board could be seen until Fergie "had a word". You could say we deserved the goal after all the shots we had, but the fact of the matter is we only scored due to that dodgy extra minute, Saha's handball (which to be fair, would have been punished if it'd been at the other end) and Friedel (who was brilliant) being caught off guard after rightly appealing. A bit down heartening to gain a point in that matter really.
 
I really hate to admit it but IMO, we should hae kept Forlan until we got Ruud back. One of the problems with our attack is that there isn't someone like Ruud waiting in the box to score for us. Both Saha and Smith are both too far back holding up the ball. We don't have someone who's in the penalty area wait to pounce on every chance we get. If we had Forlan, we'd atleast have a forward who wouldn't have to drop back all the time like Saha and Smith, and instead he'd be focusing more on timing his runs and geting the ball to score. This is what makes Ruud so great. With the amount of chances we had, Ruud would have got a hatrick. Theres no point in creating chances if you can't finish them and thats what we need to work on.
 
out of all these points, ive gotta agree with hutch. i saw it, and graeme souness was bewildered when he found that the actual 3 minutes signalled by alan wiley was changed to a mysterious 4. like i said before, i dont think this was a good game at all. im not quite pleased and i am a supporter of this club.

now, agreeing with the fact that i think i saw sir alex saying something to the fourth official doesnt mean that he is at fault. i really wish that this will not be happening again any of the future fixtures, no matter whos playing.

I agree with what yall said especially footiebella's and hutch's post but I cant take this line from kevano22.... We are now cheaters??? since when??? Indeliberate handball from Saha and now we are cheats??? :shock: You gotta be kidding mate...
 
Oh please, its a well known fact that all football players cheat, they dive, the fake, they kick each other when they're down...and United's no worse than any other team out there, in fact I think they were pretty controlled given the fact that every single time someone passed the ball a Blackburn player clanged in for a late 'touch'.

Saha didn't mean to handle it, if the ref doesn't rule that a foul so be it, not Saha's fault. The time may have been relayed to the fourth official incorrectly at first, then corrected. Alternatively, the last 5 minutes of the match consisted of about 4 of Friedel putting down the ball in the penalty area, looking at it, moving it, etc... so maybe he added another, he did it before hte 90 mins expired and thats all that matters.

But I agree, need some finishing classes, then things should be on track again :)
 
I saw your game live. Man utd had plenty of chances yeah, but really lacked penetration. The only midfielder who really impressed was good old Giggs. Cristiano Ronaldo was as rubbish as ever, and that dive :lol:.
Scholes just shoots and.. well shoots. Kleberson is more defensive than offensive and Djemba Djemba is just a dmf. I still think you lot miss a Beckham -type player, or at least someone who could take his place.

Anyway, good posts by Hutch and Footieballa. It's refreshing to see any club's supporter to write like that.

don you obvisouly didnt watch, ronaldo had some poor moments, but he had some fantastic crosses, and he was beating tugay and amruose at will other times, i dont think you watched with an open mind, to say ronaldo was rubbish is ridiculous
 
I really don't agree. I've yet to see Ronaldo beat his direct opponent.

The only cross I remember is the one that floated away and was far too long, which Giggs(again) had to recover.

Okay let me rephrase, the hype around Cristiano Ronaldo is rubbish.
 
Ronaldo's improved vastly since coming to United. When he first arrived he would dillydally about with the ball and fail to get a cross in. He gets his crosses in more often now.
Granted, he still has a lot of room for improvement with his crosses but he's only 19. He was one of Portugals key men in Euro 2004 at such a young age so it's no wonder there's a load of hype surrounding him. He plays football attractively, the fans love that.
 
I really don't think Ronaldo plays that attractively actually. He just does some stepovers, and he sometimes even fails to those stepovers (really the simplest of tricks, no technique needed). I really beleive he always does those tricks not for show, but because he lacks the skills to dribble past a player effectively.
Ronaldo dives, complains, punches I don't find that very attractive.
I also still don't agree that Ronaldo was one of the key-men for portugal in ec04. Maniche and Carvalho were the key-men.
 
Cristiano Ronaldo is young. there is also a certain thierry henry who was ridiculed before his career at highbury really took off. im not comparing the two if that's what you lot think, but given the appropriate timing, ronaldo will emerge, if not for united, as an all around footballer. sometimes i just talk to myself while watching united playing, repeating the line "give the bloody ball to ronaldo" and sometimes i just stand (more like kneel) in front of the tele with my hands on my head wondering "what the fuck is this lad doing?" as ive mentioned before, consistency is key and, frankly, none of the red devils (maaaaaaybe with the exception of alan smith) have showed that.

you can't say that playing ok in 4 games is consistant(alan smith). and the thing with henry is that when he started he wasn't surrounded by hype
 
alright, i guess youre right, its too early in the season to say consistant. but if smith carries on like this, i wouldnt mind one bit. youre right about henry i guess, i just guess the hype with ronaldo was (and is) that he can have, at times, fancy footwork that dazzles us all. sometimes when the game is safe in hand, the supporters (well i dont want to generalize, but i like it alot) enjoy a little trickery and if it is pulled off correctly, the short moment there can boost one's self esteem greatly. and confidence is important

He does the tricks because he lacks the skills to dribble past players??!!!WTF..the tricks are a skill...that's one of the ways of beating defenders...either taking them on...dribbling past them...as Ronaldinho,Zidane,Ronaldo,C.Ronaldo...and tons of other players...(especially latin american!) always do....that's what makes them special...and worth every penny... .

If u look at Ronaldo during Euro2004...he was definetly one of the key figures for the team...and u can ask any portuguese fan...and he/she'll say that the most influential of players where Ronaldo,Carvalho,Maniche and Ricardo... .
How can u say that he wasn't a key figure...didn't u see how the stadiums lit up and the crowds roared when he just got the ball...and he also scored crucial goals...plus providing TONS of chances for other players... .

Give the lad 2 years and he could be one of the best players in the world...after all...he's only 19!!

I agree with u about the tackles and fighting on pitch...but that was just when he came in at Old Trafford...if u look at his perfomances towards the end of the season and with Portugal...u'll c that he's matured enough to take a leading role in our midfield... .

its the reoccuring theme here my friends. the boy is just too young to take all the pressure piled upon him. i read from somewhere that if united somehow land shrek, old trafford could possibly be the home of the two greatest teenagers of the sport at this time. of course im not here to defend that point, but i am myself nearing that age and i can tell you right now, it don't matter how good i am at football, im not capable of taking that type of pressure! people change and i hope, for our's and the club's sake, it is for the best

Cause that would be a great sign.Saha and Smith upfront should be too strong for the Everton backline...but thats what they say against Blackburn the other day...until that man-mountain Friedel got his game-face on.I reckoned we'll win comfortably 2 to nothing.Bring on Rooney's ex employers.

I'm glad you brought up the likes of Ronaldinho, Zidane and Ronaldo.
You see the difference is, when they do a trick the simply zip past their opponent. C. Ronaldo does a few stepovers in one place and then tries to go past his opponent. The difference is that the former go past a player using this trick/skill and C.Ronaldo just stands there and tries his tricks and then has to do something else to try and beat his opponent.

How can I say that he wasn't a key figure you ask? Well let's start with the first game: Yes he scored a goal, but did they gain anything by it? In the same game his first action was to give away a penalty. Bravo.
Granted in the second game he had a nice assist with the outside of his foot, but also granted he was totally unmarked and had plenty of time and space. Against Spain he was invisible.
Against England! His most shite game of the entire tournament! He was really awfull, I really beleive he lost the ball every single timeto A.Cole(granted a good left-back), trying is stupid little stepovers.
Against the Dutch he scored, but he is a large fellow and has a good header, although it wasn't that tought to score that goal. I won't take a good goal away from him though.

Haha the irony, with the punching I hinted at C.Ronaldo's performances with Portugal namely against Iraq. In which next to his foul play he really played awfull.

Well to me it seems as a basic lack of good ball skills and ball control as he simply steps over the ball. I watch football every week 24/7 (well ofcourse not that much, but I watch it a lot).

OK...first of all...ur contradicting ur words when u talked about the Euro2004 part...how can he not be influential if he creates chances and scores goals??

He came past A.Cole once! ONCE! It's also known that his fa cup final match was his best game of the season, one of the few...

I saw about every man utd match last season.

I have a vid. that shows how many time Ronaldo beat players in the Arsenal matches...and its 2 minutes long!!
A.Cole was beaten like 4 times atleast and when Ronaldo tried to take him on again, Cole beat him up...!! :D

U clearly HATE Ronaldo...without any reason...cuz all the stuff ur sayin' doesn't make sense at all...and u r repeating urself... .

I still can't believe that ur sayin' that he is not a good one on one taker...not a good dribbler!! :roll:

obviously this domenico guy is just jealous that whatever team he supports hasn;t got an exciting prospect like Ronaldo. The boy is only 19, and people expect miracles, consistency and a complete player at such a young age.

I personally think ronaldo has got alot of pressure on him maybe too much and I hope Man Utd dont rely on him to save the day and play him in all matches.

but im sure Fergie knows what he is doing and so will give the boy a rest because he hasnt really had a rest yet. Its been straight to euro 2004 then straight into the olympics and straight bk into the United first team with all the pressure on him to perform week in week out in the premiership.
