Manchester United Thread

Bob Robinson said that Man United can't outbid Newcastle. "Manchester United can't buy Rooney. The most famous and richest club in the country can't buy him!".

it's sad if bellion leaves...but exciting if Rooney does come...hahahahaha, such a HARD decision!!! lolz

well, let's be honest, we all know that Everton is really pushing it, and they want someone who can "somehow" replace Rooney's position and lots of money...thus, Bellion must have to leave...sadly...unless miracle happens??

I dont care much for Bellion, so bring on Rooney, the boy would fit into our squad like a gem.

Was he high or drunk when he said that ? :)

lolz...i think he said that just to get Man Utd to buy him and then they can buy O'Shea...lolz...they really want a defense

haha probably, i never really understood why they sold woodgate :s

They need all the defensive help they can get, and as someone said, why try to buy rooney when he should be looking for a top class defender/def midfielder ? :l

Not that i care anyway, as long as we get rooney and not them

well...i still think that IF they do get Rooney, and then trade him for a world class defender...then that's worth it...

cause they DON'T need another bench warmer striker...they need a DEFENSMAN!!!!!

as delicious as it may seem, having wayne rooney don the red and white of manchester united may not be the best action to take. come late september and ruud finds his shooting boots again after recovering from injury, roo will begin to get unsettled due to the fact that he will unlikely win the supporting role position ahead of smith. i say smith because saha is likely gone for a while...? anyway, our makeshift 11 was decent against norwich and surperb against bucharest.

it's hard to see long term lads, i know. roo is young but will be of no help to us, being a third striker who was pretty much a star in the euro2004 championships. i would much rather see him flourish as a worldbeater, however not for the magpies, gooners, or chelski...

ss4_goku, has Hong Kong been moved to Toronto already?
WAKKAKAKA, funny u noticed...well, it's just because i move between the two places, that's why i have two locations...

and i agree totally with footieBalla...i understand, so if i vote, i think that Rooney won't really fit Newcastle OR Man Utd simply because we all have too many strikers...BUT, as a choicem, and if he doesn't mind...then it would be nice addition...like if he would do what Solskjaer would do, then it would REALLY help us...

by that do you mean like playing in a winger position as well? because we already have a plethra of wingers to choose from. soo rooney could only be useful up front. anyhow, i dont think he would like to play in that area anyway.

Dont worry lads,we have the best two man-managers money can buy in Sir Alex and Carlos Queiroz. They have managed top stars before and I'm sure they can handle Smith,Ruud,Saha and Rooney.Damnnnn, this quartet sounds menacing dosent it?

indeed. we tried unsucessfully to compete without an assistant manager in 02 and we came up empty handed. actually, we finished in the same area as this year, with just the FA Cup title. however, in 03, we put queiroz to the test and he pulled through for us. from what i hear, hes a fitness guru (hence all that becks crap about how he was a lazy bugger this year at real) and i wouldn't be surprised if he got us out of this mess this year as well.

second issue, injuries. im glad to say that saha's knee scare is improving and (my mistake) he was found on sir alex's substitute's bench during united's midweek clash with dinamo bucharest. soo this weekend's bout with rovers will probably see the frenchman lineup alongside smith. but now the bad news. skipper roy keane has picked up two broken ribs that will sideline him for up to three weeks. this is good news for new boy liam miller as he will look to impress this saturday.

lastly, cheers mick!

Today's match was why United can't win this year. What, 16 shots on goal and only 1 goal that late? Can you imagine how many Arsenal would have? I don't know who's job it is to coach good finishing...but if thats how its going to be til V. Nistlerooy gets back, kiss the premiership goodbye...sooo frustrating!!!!

That said, Dickov's goal was pretty class, though we might just have well not played Silvestre for all he was worth.

WHAT A GAME!!! United masters of comebacks. That man Brad Friedel has been a rock for 93 minutes, what a supreme player! 94th minute,Saha to Smith and the new cult hero smashes in the equaliser!!!!! I shouted till my throat is sore.Suspicion of handball from Saha but I think its a ball to hand case, and it was clearly unintentional as he has his back to the ball, pure luck some might say,but thats what you need sometimes. We gained a point rather than lose 2 today.

I dunno, Friedel did well to block things, but almost without exception United hit him with the ball, other than Kleberson's strike. Saha and Giggs's shots both were smack into him, as was Smith's header. Just poor finishing really. Anyone heard how Ruud's recovery is going?

Haha, if I didn't know better, I'd have thought I had stumbled into the W.B.A. thread, although they probably wouldn't have gotten so excited by a draw against Blackburn...

Go back to your lair Goon...

Hey don't get me wrong, I'm glad to get a point, but come on, when you take that many shots on goal without scoring (say all of those within regualr time) you know somethings going wrong. Arsenal seem to manage to score 4 goals in 6 shots. I though United played very very well, great creation of chances, Ronaldo was fanstastic, even though Wiley seems to have no interest in all the fouls on him. But still, 20 mins a man up, taking that many shots? You've got to get the win in that situation if you want the title.

I think that if we get Rooney, with Smith, Ronaldo, O'Shea, Miller, Spector, Fletch, Eagles (hopefully) United will be absolutely fantastic right in time for the eventual fall from grace of Arsenal's current team. Well like I said hopefully anyway

I don't really think that's that relevant in this situation, as united gained obvious advantage from the handball. Mening that it shouldn't have been allowed.

So,what you are sayin is that, you favour Arsenal's forwards and their attacking stye?? Well,I think you're a new fan, well I'm old skool...I'll still stick to my team even if we have Ian Dowie in attack.

If gaining advantage were the rule, then I'd have to say everytime a defender blocks a shot unintentionally (or cross as could be seen in about the 75th minute) would have to be called too. Saha didn't even see the ball, clearly unintentional, also incredibly tough for the ref to spot. Plus you can't really claim that United didn't deserve a piece of luck during the game, in the end footy comes down to it all the time. (See Henry's couple goals last year that deflected off the keeper back up off of him and in, or indeed missed 93rd minute penalties... )

Haha, no not at all, in fact I think Arsenal are a bunch of sprinters playing football  Buildup, one touch footy is the beautiful game, best example in that game being the touch up to Saha back head to schole's left footed shot. Just saying we need some clinical finishing if we want to win, which still could happen, but not if we score 1 in 16 shots on goal
