What is the opinion here about Moyes completely desmanteling Ferguson's backroom ?. I guess you can understand that a manager would want coaches of his trust, but firing René Meulensteen who is one of the most respected coaches worlwide to replace him with Phil Neville or firing the goalkeeper coach that made a lot of improvement on De Gea, is ridiculous.
It makes sense to take out some of the old and bring the new in with him, because its an attempt to stamp his own image on the squad and its play style which means he needs coaches who know what he wants.
However coaches like Rene and Eric who have been held in high regard almost as much as Fergie and constantly manage to get the best out of players even when they're getting older deserve to have been kept in place just for the consistency of transition.
On their own merit alone the pair have been spoken about by players in the current squad as having had a tremendous impact on improving their play in some way, Eric Steele is said to be
pivotal in getting De Gea playing welland it is upsetting for the player who is young to have a coach who helped him booted out. saying that Chris Woods,
who is tipped to follow Moyes to United, helped get the best out of a United reject in Tim Howard, however he isn't as highly regarded as Steele so this may be a step down for the keepers at the club. Meulensteen was spoken about by RvP as being a
big reason behind his goals last season and also more of the players say he is a big reason for them playing into older ages. I can't see whoever Moyes brings with him being held in the same regard and so this one I can't agree with at all, it is also sad to see he will have no part in the club from this season, if he had agreed to take up a role with the youth club his continued involvement would have been great for the club.
Overall, the changes seem necessary in part as its a transition of styles, however changes like Steele and Meulensteen are strange because they're genuinely at the top level in their job roles and finding quality replacements will be difficult.
