Manchester United Thread

Messi is the best ever, not a slight on Cristiano though!

I doubt those figures Beach, I suspect they'll be proved wrong pretty quickly, we won't spend crazy money unless Ronaldo is a realistic option but I suspect we'll be fine spending 60+M on 2-3 signings once in a while like we did under Sir Alex.

Regarding is the money involved worth it? Its not my money, im just interested with the footballing side of things and on that front it would be monumental to bring in the 2nd best player in the world and someone who is already a solidified club legend.

Now that's just silly.

Messi:
233 goals in 218 games + a much better assist record + doesn't selfishly shoot all the time like CR.

Funny enough messi only had one more assist than Ronaldo in 2012-13, also messi lost the ball more than any other player in la liga. Lastly he doesn't have more goals than games in a barcelona shirt so you must have cut out a season or two.

Both are good, but I'd take Ronaldo for other reasons like equally good with both feet, excellent in the air, Far and close FKs, long range shooting etc.

I'd love to have both in the same team though :P

both Real and Barca would be somewhere else without both Messi and Ronaldo. It´s impossible to compare such players, both best suited for different football style.. personally if i had to choose between them in their peak, i would go for Messi, becouse i view him as more adaptable and possibly more a team player. It is realy hard.. Ronaldo is not worst individually than Messi, but he stands in his shadow becouse of Barcelona success and Messi breaking all records.. Viewed back the Ronaldo transfer was in wrong time, in time of Barcelona dominance.. i don´t know how many people will rememeber his sick goal record compared to what Barcelona achieved at the same time as a team with Messi and co.

maybe next season it will chainge.. I think the rumors of Ronaldo coming back will be always alive, untill he retires at Madrid. I think Madrid at this stage can´t afford to let the best player they had since maybe Di Stefano go away. It would be massive if they did.

He basically misses English Football and United but is also happy at Real, leaving both camps with enough for encouragement really but not outright committing to Real

In Short.

IFS FUCKING ON.

I realize that i'm biased about Ronaldo. But IMO Man Utd would have won the first CL final against Barcelona if Ronaldo wasn't playing for them...until the Eto'o goal Man Utd were the better team but Ronaldo kept shotting rather selfish from impossible dsitance and angles...

Of course it could well be that without Ronaldo Man Utd might never have reached that final... There is no doubt (even not for me) thatRonaldo is a fantastic player and that he and Messi are a cut above all the other players as individuals. IMO Ronaldo is not enough of a team player in some big matches (and that was certainly the case in that final). I realse that this is a very sensible topic and that some people don't like this opinion. Two reactions: i don't want to hurt anybody's feelings and secondly it is only my (subjective) opinion.

Messi vs Ronaldo is a topic with no real answer I guess. Simply because as I said they are the best of the best, certainly the greatest players in my (albeit short) experience of football.

Its like comparing any two variants of the same item to compare them for example saying chocolate ice cream is better than vanilla ice cream, the best part of them is that they're ice cream and the difference is the taste. Your opinion is your opinion, it won't change minds because at the end of the day people love ice cream and know that they think one is better than the other despite them being basically equal in every way.

My analogy was poor, I'm just really hungry.

Well as you said we probably wouldn't have made the final if it wasn't for this

YouTube - Cristiano Ronaldo 40 Yards Goal vs FC Porto

Those first 10 minutes are overrated Gerd and this is coming from a United fan, once Barcelona got into their rhythm they were just the better team, Ronaldo could have passed at times sure but he has proven as above that he can score from out of nowhere and had one of those (some were very close) gone in we'd have been leading and it could have been different.

I don't really remember that night as Ronaldo costing us but the entire team not playing well and a midfield of Anderson, Carrick and Giggs just not being competitive with a peak of their powers Iniesta and Xavi.

Yes, it's his record from the time since CR signed for Real.

Ronaldo is not coming to MUTD this season. Time for dreamland musical to drop the tunes and pack up and leave. Ronaldo love seeing UK media running about like headless chickens for a few weeks ,but Ronaldo at the end of the day is a businessman in tight shorts.

If Park could finish, we would have been one up after a great Ronaldo free kick bounced right to the Korean, but he didn't connect well enough.

I always forget, but wasn't that the final that VDS really cost us? I'm pretty sure he should have saved two of the goals.

It doesn't really matter though, we'd lost the second we had to wear the white kits ;)

Bebo the dreamslayer :(

Mutd should of bought Isco when Malaga needed funds. He went from £7m to £20m in one season :COAT: at least Thiago would soften the blow :P

 Does this bother you Bebo, the idea of Van Persie and Ronaldo seems to make you quake:SMUG:

It's just some post season fun, I think realistically we all know Ronaldo isn't leaving Real Madrid this summer however the idea of him leaving Real Madrid is very real as long as he avoids signing that extension, maybe he'll sign it next week or a month from now or even next summer but until then I'll keep following the story.

I never blame RVP for leaving... Wenger knew the back lashing ,but getting £24m is good business for both clubs. So sell us Rooney for £20m :)

No, Wilshere is just another lost puppy player, don't put united through the indignity of being linked with him.

There is imo the biggest question....when will he grow into his new level ? We saw RVP through out the years before he became what he is. I`m not sure Jack will be that player next season or the following season. I think by 24yr he`ll be a whole lot better once the injury prone is past him. Hence why Wenger is flooded w/ midfielders :) and always on the hunt for one. Arsenal thrives by midfielders.

Maybe, I think he does too much running weirdly. If he slowed down, took the time to read the game be might improve vastly.

He's 10000x the player Shelvey is anyway.

It's the battle of the kit photos! Alcantara is taken out of the Barca promo, but then Rooney (who is one of Nike's biggest properties) does not feature in the new United training kit video.

Sh*ts getting real.
