Manchester United Thread

So we are set to rival Chelsea for the signing of van Ginkel for £15m, we can't doubt that he's a talented kid but I'm definitely sceptical as to if he's worth so much at this point in time. Then again, we payed as much for Zaha so we will see.

Imo, we would still benefit more from selling Rooney and buying ourselves a competitive Midfield and defence.

And obviously we will take one more child for the collection.

Yup, we're apparently using a whole new 'type' of pitch which will be better in winter than this year. Some small mix of synthetic grass apparently. Who knows.

Sounds from Spain are that Thiago will indeed be leaving Barca. I posted a few days ago that it just makes too much sense for us to sign him. We'd offer him the chance to start every week in a big club, he'd offer us a cracking young player in a position we desperately need.

Therefore I now expect City, Monaco or Chelsea to offer double what we do, and scupper the signing.

Also expect movement on Strootman soon. Given the comments from his agent, I actually don't think we've made a firm offer yet.

Just kind of hope things are ticking over in the background. I know Moyes is on holiday, but with Gill and SAF in charge there was always confidence that they were sorting stuff out. I don't know with this new regime. Time will tell.

Good to see the pitch being replaced after all those years of getting by. The new one is supposed to be from the same company that provided the pitch at the Emirates.

W regards to Thiago; I am on the verge of just not reading any transfer rumors anymore. The bookies, agents, tabloid journalists and other scum are laughing themselves to the bank with the constant stream of all this hearsay information.

The pitch being redone is long overdue, shouldn't have any problem's for a couple of season's atleast. :))

I think things are being done behind the scenes but again we haven't had movement out yet other than Scholes so for now the only priority is a midfielder, if or when the departures start occurring that would change things though

FFS - Thiago hat trick in the U21 final. He's probably just priced himself out of our range, and into City or Chelsea's. Sob. We've apparently been meeting with his agent for almost 2 years.

I suspect our chances just took a massive nosedive.

He'll be on the radar of everyone now and we all know what happens when the money clubs go up against us.

Strootman it is then, sigh.

There is this strange but persistent rumour that Vadis Odjidja from Club Brugge is on his way to Man Utd.
He is a Belgian CMF who can also play DMF and AMF.
It could make sense as Everton wanted to buy him last year, the transfer was a couple of minutes too late on september the first last year...of course Moyes was then Everton's manager.

He's a good player but i'm not sure if he is a player for a massive club like United...now and then he's in the selection of our national team, but he is never a starter...Witsel, Fellaini, Dembele, Defour, Vertonghen, De Bruyne, Hazard all have played in midfield and were preferred to Vadis...

You two should go cry in a corner together :BLEH: Were interested in Thiago and he puts in a performance that warrants our interest and it suddenly means were no longer an option for him:CONF:

Cheer up lads!

Man United is as big a draw to ANY footballer around the world as Real, Barca and Bayern.

Man United conduct their business better than both Real and Barca. As a footballing model to aspire to, only Bayern do it as well.

Rivalry aside, Man United ARE the worlds biggest club.

Fletcher will be joining us for pre-season training, so that'll be like a new signing too :P

Time to strengthen other areas.

So we open vs Swansea, and then face Chelsea and Liverpool followed by Crystal Palace and then Manchester City.

I see us taking 7 points if I'm honest, predicting.. 1-0(W), 2-1(L), 2-2(D), 3-0(W), 2-0(L)

The doom and gloom I see on the internet bc of our sequence of fixtures is pretty hilarious. Last I checked United are the PL champions. If anything, the other teams should be worried. The first few weeks of any season is anyone's guess really. If we do well and take a good amount of points then we already have some of the toughest fixtures out of the way, if we don't then we still have a long season left to make up for it.

It was my thinking that after these five games we would have a clear run at an unbeaten streak, except maybe the testing matches vs Spurs and Arsenal. I'm not all gloom and doom, promise :P

I agree with jonnyluvrod...
Like it or not , Man Utd is the biggest football team in the world.

Sadly not. We might actually be the biggest club in the world but transfer wise we're always second/third best to other big teams.

Whenever there's a big rush towards signing a young talented player, we never get him. I have no faith whatsoever that Thiago will sign for us over one of the sugar daddy clubs, or the likes of Bayern either.

We're the biggest club in the world, make the most money, have one of the most storied histories but in the transfer market fall behind at least 6 clubs - 4 of which are run at huge losses as playthings for rich folk.

That's kind of a summary of our annoyance with the situation ;)

Anyway, think we'll only have 5 or 6 points out of those first few matches, pretty harsh to have such a run with Moyes who is a notorious slow starter. People will be writing us off by October!

Just hope the players and fans give Moyes a chance.

Don't worry, David Gill will be doing his damnedest to make sure only Utd can spend money

And one day you'll have Gill to thank when the Sheikh realises his real passion is netball, and City will have been forced to operate in a way that they can continue without oil money.

:)

I never get the fascination with the reveal of the fixtures, everyone plays the same games.

always some negative and positives, once we get away from those early tough games we should have a good run of 'winnable' games which we showed last year we were ruthless in.

Due to an stupid clause in his contract, Thiago can go away for only 18 M€, so he could be bought by practically any big team in europe.

What will be the deciding factor will be having minutes (not being a starter is what draws him away from Barcleona), not money.

I think he will go to Man Utd and it will sadden me if this happens. He's very young and can still achieve the balance and constancy that his play lacks. If he succeeds in being more regular and deciding better, he will turn one of the best midfielders out there.

Well, after a few seasons he`ll go back to Barca. He has the DNA and such...I do think he`ll risk his NT options leaving abroad.

He's an Italian born Brazilian - not Spanish, so I'm hoping he doesn't actually have the DNA thing.

Fingers crossed ;)

Lots of 'chat' that we've made our signings and just waiting to unveil them alongside the Moyseiah on July 1st. I don't believe it, just saying ;)
