I'm not the least bit surprised. As I've been harping on for 18 months now, Ferguson no longer does tactics.
Giggs needs to retire, because if he doesn't, Fergie is still going to play him, out of position, for 90 minutes. It's just like Neville.
We've been winning in spite of Fergie this season. As we did for large chunks of last season.
I believe we have a very strong squad outside of central midfield, and some wonderful youth, and hopefully we can bring in someone new to take the helm at the end of this season.
I obviously love Ferguson and he is literally the best manager in history, but tactically he's been woeful for a couple years at least now.
Even though we've strung results together, we've not played great football since 2008-09.
This isn't knee jerk - I've been saying this for ages. Last year his tactics, formations and substitutions were completely non-sensical.
I have no doubt he's still a force to be reckoned with in the dressing room, but that only takes you so far. We just showed up in a crucial away game with no game plan, a formation that was obvious and easy to setup against and all he changed (in the 70th minute) was to throw on some attacking players and hope for the best.
