I think I'd honestly take Owen right now.
He'll be free for one thing (aside from wage demands), he'll be injured half the season so that makes him a back-up striker whichever way we look at it, and he is a proven goalscorer, plus we're a big club and he'll want to throw his hat into Capello's World Cup plans however unlikely it might be that he'd get a place in the squad.
If we're monitoring him, we should just get him.
Not sure how the majority of fans would take to Owen to be honest... hardly anyone I know likes Berbatov and he's not even been bad so I can't see many buzzing at the signing of a injury prone Liverpool reject who's fallen from grace quicker than you can say 'dodgy hamstrings'.
He'd probably do alright though, he was ok for England with Rooney wasn't he?
Theres no shame in losing to Barca, especially with the way Iniesta and Xavi bossed the midfield. But with the FA Cup semis, we shouldnt have let the game reach a shootout in the first place, especially against the team we were playing.I don't agree. United could have won all 4 competitions last year. They lost on penalty shootouts in the FA Cup semi-final and got beaten by Barca in the CL final.
I doubt we'd panic buy Nick, We have 80M in the bank, If SAF wanted he could easily get 2 "Big Names" who might not be right. Apart from a select few we can pretty much sign anyone. Also the fact that the transfer would be "free" backs that up.
