Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Like i said before we could have taken players off Madrid in exchange for Ronaldo + cash seeing as how much they wanted Ronaldo. Van der Vaart and Huntelaar in exchange would have been nice.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

But were would you play Van der Vaart? And Huntelaar was 3rd choice before the Real Spree kicked off and wasn't happy about it so why would he join us to be 3rd choice?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think I'd honestly take Owen right now.

He'll be free for one thing (aside from wage demands), he'll be injured half the season so that makes him a back-up striker whichever way we look at it, and he is a proven goalscorer, plus we're a big club and he'll want to throw his hat into Capello's World Cup plans however unlikely it might be that he'd get a place in the squad.

If we're monitoring him, we should just get him.

A better step for Owen than Utd me thinks...

It's got to hurt seeing Real and others signing stars on top of their game, no matter where or how they are paying for it and Utd looking at taking Owen on a pay as you play...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not sure how the majority of fans would take to Owen to be honest... hardly anyone I know likes Berbatov and he's not even been bad so I can't see many buzzing at the signing of a injury prone Liverpool reject who's fallen from grace quicker than you can say 'dodgy hamstrings'.

He'd probably do alright though, he was ok for England with Rooney wasn't he?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Would be crap signing. hes lost his ambition for the game.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

why we don't get someone some1 good from an "average" team, it would be easier to sign, someone like Il "Magico" Cassano, Lavezzi,...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I doubt weere signing anyone. The Campbell sale has gone quite?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

we need to get at least another player, another Stiker is a must!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I don't agree. United could have won all 4 competitions last year. They lost on penalty shootouts in the FA Cup semi-final and got beaten by Barca in the CL final.
Theres no shame in losing to Barca, especially with the way Iniesta and Xavi bossed the midfield. But with the FA Cup semis, we shouldnt have let the game reach a shootout in the first place, especially against the team we were playing.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Bit harsh on Everton their Rune. We should have been awarded a penalty which wasn't given.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm telling you, guys. We need to sign that Giovinco fella from Juve.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

And Im saying we won't be signing anyone else.

The Cafe gone into meltdown since Benzema joined Real?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Media say we're linked to Owen. If the medic team can get him fit, I think that's not a bad signing. He could play the FA and Carling Cup and partner Wazza or Berbatov in the PL every now and then. Plus he's free.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

And this is his last chance to play in a World Cup so I'm sure he'll be a lot more motivated than people say he is.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It came to this Owen top signing :CONFUSE:.... just wait and see what SAF does surely there`s time unless you lots in here are the utd`s scouts.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Seems increasingly likely that were getting Owen. (Everyone seems to think its almost done) I personally don't think he's the "best" option but then again he fits in with the profile I said earlier about being a stop gap for Welbeck and Macheda. Im just not sure he'll ever be fit when we need him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I doubt we'd panic buy Nick, We have 80M in the bank, If SAF wanted he could easily get 2 "Big Names" who might not be right. Apart from a select few we can pretty much sign anyone. Also the fact that the transfer would be "free" backs that up.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Mickey Owen...sigh...but we could give him another chance and I fairly like him...any news on that wonderkid Douglas Costa?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The rumour of Owen going to Man U has been on and off for years, even when he was leaving Real Madrid a few years ago. I'd just take it with a pinch of salt.

Besides that I'm sure the last time the rumours were floating around Owen himself said he'd never go to Old Trafford, something to do with a certain club he played for in the past.

I think the rumours smack of desperation because all of Fergie's targets have either gone to Real Madrid or decided to stay put.
