Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Any of you already hoping one of the big3 will draw Real in the CL group stages next season? I think it will be the only game that I will be supporting Utd or Chelsea and really hoping they hammer them. Or Liverpool giving them another hiding would be very amusing.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Again something just mentioned in a previous post JK Huntelaar anyone?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I thought Martins was the only player left worth signing?

If we're gonna buy off Madrid we should at least go for Higuain. Strong rumours that we've got a deal in place for Robben too.

Robben seriously needs to prove his fitness anyways... Otherwise its like Hargreaves all over again...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I doubt we'll sign anyone else know. I think we'll keep a hold of the cash and see how the youth develops to be honest. There really isn't anyone on the market I think would be of benefit from.

Where you hear those Robben rumours? I rather not sign someone like him.

I dont especially want him. It's probably bollocks it was on redcafe I think.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

also rumoured for alexis sanchez of udinese, personally i'd love him at united, hes 20 so he has loads of time to develop and is already showing similar signs of what cristiano ronaldo did. not saying another one but he would be a pretty good buy for now and future

but personally i'd like to see another striker come in the now, maybe buy back giuseppe rossi as hes matured now and gained vast more experience

He really isn't United material... nor now nor in the future.

Yeah, I think we should get Freddy Adu and Cherno Samba as well...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Dunno why you lot think Martins is a decent player, he's less lethal that a blind puppy and he's a temperamental bastard to boot.

Plus, apart from Quinton Fortune (at a push), African players don't tend to work at United (that's not racism, just an observation), mind you we only really had Fortune and Djemba-Djemba anyway, unless I'm missing someone.

I wouldn't mind Huntelaar, but I still think he needs to prove himself somewhere first, he hardly got a look in at Real so I'm not sure how well he'd fit in at a massive club.

Wouldn't mind Higuain at all though.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

At this rate, Madrid will be filled with just offensive players and big egos by the time the window closes. I mentioned it before that even the old Galacticos side was built over a few years, with just one major signing a season. But we've already seen 3 major signings and theres bound to be a few more before the season starts. If they dont win either the league or the CL, its gonna be considered a major disaster IMO.
I'd be willing to bet that atleast 1 of the new Galactico signings will want to leave within 2 years.

Speaking of Africans, where is Manucho?

Think it was just Sean who wanted him, I agree with you, I don't think he'd be up to the task although he's not that bad.

Lami - Manucho was on loan at Hull officially until today and will report for pre-season training with the other lads I imagine. I guess Fergie will take a look at him and then decide whether he's got a future here and maybe flog him before the transfer window shuts.

It would be the knockout stage and not the group as we are all top seeds. Arsenal are the only PL team that could be in there group.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well..fcuk me Karim...why did you have to go to Madrid...you gave me ANOTHER reason to hate Real...Whos next on the list for us now huh? Looks like we have to settle for scraps.

Weave your master plan now Sir Alex...like now.

PS: We would spite Real if we would swoop for David Villa now.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Real Madrid aren't a top seed which means their going to most probably end up in a Group with one of the big 4.

Looking at it I think SAF has to give Rooney his chance, Signing Benzema (or a big name CF) would AGAIN mean he doesn't get his wish of playing him up top. I hope we get rid of Manucho and Campbell and bring in a Larrson like signing to be a stop gap for Welbeck and Macheda.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So we are in for a top midfielder/winger then? We need to have 4 strikers and right now we only have 2!

By the looks of it,we have to settle for a lesser known player...like Pierre Andre-Gignac.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

8.52 Interesting line in The Guardian with regards Michael Owen. They reckon Manchester United are monitoring his situation carefully as they believe they could land the free agent on wages worth a piffling £40,000-a-week. With Karim Benzema off to Real Madrid and a lack of genuine alternatives, could Sir Alex turn to a player he was known to be keen on earlier in his career?

I agree. United already have 2 top class strikers, and getting a third one would mean sacricing Rooney again. I'd rather we don't get another big profile striker. All SAF needs is someone with skills who could play FA and Carling Cups as well as a few PL matches. I don't think neither Welbeck nor Macheda are ready to lead United's attack alone.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The way I'm looking at it is that if we couldnt juggle all 4 competitions with Ronaldo and Tevez in our squad (and this is for both 07/08 and 08/09 seasons), how're we gonna do it with players who's techincally weaker than any of those two players (I'm talking about Wellbeck, Macheda or whoever we put trust into to get the job done). Yes another big signing means Rooney sits on the bench but that doesnt mean we dont need another najor signing.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

First off, with the latest Ribery comments, can anyone think back 2 months ago, and have imagined that Real Madrid will play a front line of:

-Ronaldo-Kaka-Ribery-
-------Benzema-------

I mean, good lord, that's pure and utter FM stuff there. I think Fergie is being smart, one of those players (not to mention, deep breath, Higuain, Raul, RVN, Sneijder, Robben, Huntelaar, VDV and so forth) are going to get seriously miffed. So we can maybe pick them up on the cheap next season :) And keep our $80m getting interest in the bank!

I have a weird feeling that Fergie is relishing this. As I've said before, no one wins the league 4 times in a row, so in a sense we've not got massive pressure from that front. We have a host of young players who need blooding, and if he believes in them, will get a great chance this year. The only sour note will be if Liverpool (finally) wins the title, which they look good to do, but hey, 1 in 20 isn't something to really write home about. Particularly if it's only made possible by a Real Madrid one time phenomenom of hoovering up the best talent in the world to one big dysfunctional squad.

That said I don't believe Welbeck and Macheda are good enough to be playing every week at OT. Which they'd have to be, because our strikers can't play every match for 90 mins. I would be pretty surprised by Owen, but can see at dirt cheap on a pay as you go basis why he'd be useful. A bit Ole-esque in use, but central.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

this whole players transfer\wheather conversation kinda reminds me of the flamini conversation on the arsenal thread 1 year ago :P

and however madrid is everything but "hot and sunny" in winter.

sorry for the lil off topic. :))

I don't agree. United could have won all 4 competitions last year. They lost on penalty shootouts in the FA Cup semi-final and got beaten by Barca in the CL final.

If SAF could somehow persuade Madrid to sell them Huntelaar for cheap then I think we'd be good to go. He'd be a perfect substitute for Rooney and Berbatov.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The whole Benzema signing has really deflated me :(( I think its the fact we've seen Real snap up what I see as our main target to replace the guy they already bought from us.

Anyone suggesting Rooney be on the bench if we signed a striker is completely wrong. He's our best player now without a doubt.

no one wins the league 4 times in a row, so in a sense we've not got massive pressure from that front.

On the other hand I expect one hell of a season, BTW theirs ALWAYS pressure on us to win things, Im sure SAF will go into the season expecting to win the PL.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Im not a fan of his so not to fussed, He's basically RVN but with less footballing ability.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Its starting to become a bit of a joke and Real Madrid are becoming a fucking piss off

You would think that all the success United have had in the past 3 seasons it would attract big names, but no big bucks bollock heads Real Madrid, who have been rather shite lately start splashing extra cash thats barely even dried straight out of the Madrid bank!

Wankers!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

On another note I dont beleive a big name striker is needed cos it would be hard to keep them happy as Rooney and Berbatov are worthy starters. I would say that a top quality left winger is needed but I cant even think of any that are any good and available, only Robben but his fitness is always a question
