Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I know its just a YouTube video but Benzema looks like the kind of signing Berba should have been.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think the only problem with Berba is he's lazy, he will always be that way, it's his mind set.
If Utd play to him rather than with him he'll score goals. He's not going to change to fit Utd...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

No I'm sorry, he IS lazy.

The amount of times last season he should've been busting a gut to get into the back, after dropping deep to link up the play, and then he's still nowhere near barely even jogging, meaning we had noone in the box...

Some people go way out of their way to defend some of our players.

Can I be the first to say that sounds nothing like him at all?

Fair enough Nick.

Mat- That doesn't make him lazy though. Not everyone has as much energy as Tevez or Rooney, he can only do as much as his body will let him and anyway we've got enough grafters in the side as it is. Some of his link up and general play on the ball was superb last season. As I've said before it can take time to settle in to a new team and he admitted the price tag was weighing on his conscience. At least wait until the end of next season before judging him.

And you say people go way out of their to defend our players but surely that's better than not even giving the guy a chance. He did well for his first season, not amazing but still good, we can't get into a situation where we boo our own players if they're not up to our spoilt standards.

The flack players like Nani, Berbatov and O'Shea get from the fans (I've been guilty of this too but never vocally at a game like some) is terrible, it's not gonna make them any better, and it's not gonna make SAF change his mind about them.

I dunno. I've always known Ronaldo to be like that. Its just that his ego and other negative characteristics over shadow it.
I wanna wish him the best (and I know I should) but a small part of me hopes things go horribly wrong over there and he comes crying back to us. No matter where his goal to become "the greatest" takes him, Old Trafford will always be his home.

Well if they cant handle the criticism then they're not worthy. Look at how Ronaldo handles abuse. They should learn a thing or two.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

our own fans at a home game never booed ronaldo, thats different. away fans should be motivation for every player, it just means you're good.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Abuse from your own fans and abuse from opposition fans are different.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Oh right. Sorry. Other than Berba, I didnt actually know Nani and O'Shea got it from our own fans.
I guess Nani its obvious why but what's wrong with O'Shea?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Apparently next week Man Utd start the negociation with Lyon for Benzema (start at 40M€)

source : Benzema agent

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

but tbh i really dream of Silva, coz we need also an side midfielder to fill the blank made by CR9, Benzema is pure Striker but we need one also

Karim Benzema's agent has reiterated his client's intention to remain at Lyon for another season. The France international has been strongly linked with Manchester United.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Doesn't seem to me like Benzema has any interest in joining us. So don't make him. Last thing we need is a Ronnie mach 2.

Note, that doesn't mean I have any idea who we CAN sign mind.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Ribery? There's no other "stars" left to sign after Benzema and Ribery is there?

"Perhaps he wants to make an offer to Lyon. If that happens, then Karim will think about it, but as things stand, Karim wants to stay with Lyon for another year."

I dont think he's ruling out a move, we just havent put an offer on the table for him to consider yet.

But yeah, like you're saying theres no star signing left after Benzema and Ribery and we all know Ribery is most likely to go to Madrid if anywhere.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Perhaps that's a good thing though. With the silly prices that the "star" players are going for, maybe it's better to pick up some of those lesser known players you've scouted that you can get for £10m a piece or whatever.

It should be a great summer for you lot. You've now got enough money to completely overhaul your squad and get rid of any players who aren't quite good enough and you have the cash to replace those players with players you might not have been able to afford previously.

10.21 FC Porto striker Lisandro Lopez is set to accept an offer from Lyon, his agent has claimed, although the two clubs are still to agree a fee for the Argentina international.

Isn't he supposed to be a superb player? I'm sure Abhishek rates him amongst the better players in the game? Could be an option for you as well.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

That Benzema video only showed a few goals, and the majority of them were from a defence splitting ball from Juninho. With a 3 minute clip we could even make Nani look world class (I know it's a cheap dig, but he was the first name I thought of, though hopefully you get what I mean).

Has anyone been following the U21 tournament? I've only caught a few minutes here & there, mainly of the England games, so curious to see how Tosic has been performing.
I thought we signed him as a left winger but from what I saw he's been playing on the right?
I'm thinking we should keep Fraizer Campbell now that Tevez is out (maybe that's why he's stalling on moving to Hull?)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He's only 26 and has quite a few goals in him. Looks like a replacement for Benzema.

No point in that. IMO, Wellbeck and Macheda are both better than him. Plus he'll bring some extra cash in from his sale.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Have been watching the U21s, great tournament. So refreshing to be done with lots of the histrionics and faking. Oh, and England are actually good! ;)

Tosic has impressed me. Second half of the first game he was Serbia's best player, though isolated in the first half. Looked alright against Belarus too, showed some decent skill and good delivery.

Strikes me a simple winger, dribbles, crosses. Also good on corners. My only issue is that if he wasn't a United player, I can't imagine I'd be screaming to sign him.

Personally I rate Campbell, reminds me of Agbonlahor. Never United first XI stuff, but useful an option. He is seriously quick, and likes to play on the shoulder of the last man. It seems a waste to me to sell him at such a young age. Then again our loans have utterly failed recently (Rossi, Campbell, Ebanks Blake, Simpson) as they never get game time. Not sure what the solution is.

We're in a weird situation whereby everyone is screaming out for a world class player, but there aren't really any available for what we need. In my perfect world, we'd get Ribery for less than £40m but the striker situation is harder. Rooney and Berbatov are both first XI players, and we won't play 66 games next season, so each could feature in maybe 40 odd. How do you convince a player like Benzema to come for 25/30 games some as a sub? In a world cup year? I don't have an answer. Whereas as limited and raw as someone like Welbeck is, he'll do the job asked of him.

Had Tevez stayed, problem would have been solved. But if our offer is as Jorchabian dsecribed and he turned it down - well f*ck him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Its actually quite frustrating when we have probably the biggest transfer budget we've ever had and no one to sign.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Were not really looking to get "Star" signings, The only reason Benzema is on the case as he as a lot of potential at the age of just 21. We don't do Ribery like signings so just rule that out. I hope we can land Benzema and then were pretty sorted with getting Valencia and then we can search for the "Next Ronaldo" players like Douglas Costa, Eden Hazard etc

Also if we signed Benzema no doubt Berba would be dropped for the lad. Rooney behind Benzema would be on another level. (Even Berba behind Benzema would be tasty)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah I'd fucking cream if we got Benzema, the lad is class.

I read the other day we've begun a policy of not spending big bucks on anyone over 26 which rules out Ribery and Villa for example. Not sure if its true.
