Manchester United Thread

Hhhm in true goon style most of you are blind to the facts regarding our relationship with the FA...

When Lehman appeared before the FA on the same charge with a warning to his future conduct already hanging over him he was only fined and given another warning.

So what do you expect to happen to our Scholesy?

Theres a saying about living in glass houses and throwing stones that springs to mind....

Anyway enough of the arsewipes, we're playing the team that last season (and for the second time in five years) ended the arses title hopes...

It could be the last time we play The Scum tomorrow so lets make the most of it, tbh the rivalry has dwindled a little but the hatred stands strong, and I do hate leeds supporters...

Of course I fancy us for a win tomorrow, we need to get out Title defense up and running, fair enough I dont expect us to win it every year but I wanna see us fight for it!!!

Hopefully Ole will play a part and fingers crossed Fergie will keep Sheasy at CB......

SIGNS YOU'VE BEEN IN MANCHESTER TOO LONG

1. You go mad when somebody who is not from Manchester says 'mad fer it',

"Nobody says that EVER!" you scream.

2. You say 'mad fer it' when back in Manchester.

3. You think fisherman's hats are attractive.

4. You support Man City out of principle.

5. You see Coronation Street stars all the time and think nothing of it.

6. You think Londoners are 'soft southern wankers'... until they kick your head in at a footie match.

7. You get a freckle and consider yourself 'sun-tanned'

8. You deny that it rains all the time.. as you struggle home with the shopping in yet another torrential downpour.

9. You won't pay more than 1.50 for a wrap of skag.

10. People start yawning when you talk about how great Manchester is.

VIDUKA MISSES TRIP TO OLD TRAFFORD

The Australian Soccer Association have decided to invoke Fifa's five-day ban on forward Mark Viduka, meaning he will not play against Manchester United on Saturday.

The Leeds United man did not turn up for his nation's friendly against Venezuela after withdrawing from the squad due to an injury he had picked up in the recent Premier League match with Wolves.

However, the ASA did not believe the injury was severe enough to stop the player from appearing in the friendly and have contacted the game's governing body to see the ban is carried out. Socceroo's team-mate Scott Chipperfield of Basel has also been banned for five days for the same reason.

"In this decision ASA has taken a sympathetic view of the circumstances of all players but ultimately decided there were grounds for invoking Article 40 of the Fifa regulations in the case of Mark Viduka and Scott Chipperfield," a statement from the ASA said.

"In the case of Mark Viduka, the ASA emphasises that while it is sympathetic to Mark's personal situation, it notes he has played twice for Leeds since returning from Australia to visit his ill father.

"Furthermore, ASA is not satisfied that Mark has sustained an injury which would have prevented him taking the field in Caracas."

The news of Viduka's absence will be a bitter blow to the Yorkshire club who are desperately trying to stave off the threat of relegation.

Happy days, good news for us . . . . .

indeed....

Actually no, Lehmann wasn't on the same charge as Scholes is. Lehmann was charged with improper conduct, the equivalent of a yellow card, while Scholes is charged for violent conduct, the equivalent of a red card. If he is found guilty he will get a three match ban.

Thats it lads...I couldnt see us winning it this time round.I may have to eat back my words which I gladly will,if we won it.I was on the tube watching the game,55th minute,we were still deadlocked goalless, and the other channel,Arsenal was away at Chelsea and they were leading 1-2 and they were attacking! I was like what the hell?? Furthermore, them Gooners conceded first! Its true what Keano said...some youngsters in the club are just taking the joyride...there is no more of that 1999 hunger and passion.

Go Porto.

Out of form Man utd. will go down to the unbeaten in-form(without Derlei though) Porto.

I wouldn't bet against us getting a good result in Porto. We always play better in europe, we have vast experience. I'd be surprised if we didn't get at least a draw.

I hope Benni does the business then!

Benni McCarthy has been on fire for porto(12goals in 14 games).he is the player together along with deco who should exploit manure waekness at the back...

I wouldnt say it that we have experience in europe...i'd say we play differently in europe, more of a continental style...but Porto is just not any other ordinary team, they are class...Real Madrid struggled to beat them at the group stages...we struggled to win against Leeds,Everton and Boro....what more can u say...

Nice to see that nowadays Porto is already seen as a good team in Europe and it´s players are well knowed. But as a Porto fan I think that we are capable of winning Man. United (also because the absence of Rio and the possible one of Silvestre, two calss defenders). This season Porto only lost two games, 1-0 to Milan in the UEFA Supercup (who saw the game also saw that we deserved more) and 1-3 against Real Madrid in the CL Group and we are also in every competion possible (which we won all last season). Ahhh feels so nice to brag about my team. :D

Feck me, just dont know whats goin at the mo, some of Fergies decisions are suspect at best and a few of the team seem to have the heeby's, we created so many chances but it wasnt to be...

I dont see us beating Porto this week, it would've been hard even with all our best players and having good form, but with us playing like we are its gonna take a huge improvement to get anything out of the game.

But we're still in three comps and there is still alot to play for so we'll have to see what happens.....

Silvestre injured for the next 3 weeks doesnt help too much. I said time and time again that Fergie should have bought a defender in January. Then again Fergie knows what he's doing and he'll get us through it as usual.

I wouldn't be too sure of that, it means at one point you'll have no Rio, Silvestre or Neville 3 of your 4 first choice defense. Add no Scholes and you're gonna have some problems.

P. Neville W.Brown O' Shea Fortune

Is that how you would have to line up?

I think G. Neville is a pretty decent CB, abliet the height factor. He seems to play well in the middle. What about Mark Lynch? is he registered to play?

At the mo, to me, the best defensive line up for Porto:

P. Neville G. Neville Brown O'Shea

But could they keep up with Benni? Rio and Silvestre are no slouches, but i don't know who would keep tabs here.

With Silvestre out for 3 weeks, arguably their best defender with pace it's going to be a hard game at Porto this Wednesday. Man Utd's great strength and depth in defense is not as strong as many Man Utd fans once led to believe.

Well we're missing a couple of world class defenders so of course we're gonna be struggling but with both Nevilles, Fortune, Djemba, Brown, Sheasy and if needed Keano plus a couple of youngsters all able to play along the back four we've got plenty of depth in defense.
