No-one seems to have mentioned the brilliant game Southgate had . . .

He was dogged yesterday, really solid and kept both Giggs and O`Shea out.

Fergie would've been good to get him last month, with Rio out his experience would/could've been a huge difference.

I wouldnt mind if it was brilliant skill that was causing us to leak goals but they all seem to be from the same sort of situations...

Anyway feck it now, the berties on Saturday, no feckin about this time lads we've gotta beat em' losing to them on saturday is, well its not even worth thinking about

The Old Trafford "man of the moment" . . . . .

SAHA HANDED LES BLEUS CALL

As expected, Manchester United's Louis Saha has been handed a chance to stake a claim for a Euro 2004 place after being named in the French squad for the friendly against Belgium.

The European champions face Belgium in Brussels on February 18 and coach Jacques Santini has named a 20-man party.

The French squad has a very familiar look to it, especially in defence and midfield with all the usual names involved.

It is in attack that Santini is now considering his options, mainly due to the suspension of Auxerre's Djibril Cisse.

The Liverpool-bound striker has been ruled out for five competitive games after an incident in an Under-21 game, so he will not be considered for Euro 2004.

Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet will definitely be going but the other two or three striking berths are wide-open.

Saha - called into senior squad for the first time - has now been given the chance to impress, while Lyon duo Sidney Govou and Pegguy Luyindula will also hope to catch the eye, with Steve Marlet and Sylvain Wiltord both injured.

There is no place for Manchester City's Nicolas Anelka - who is still working out his differences with Santini - but it remains to be seen whether he will be able to get back into the reckoning in time to make Portugal.

Cant believe no1 has posted this yet,

Man Yoo 4 - 2 Man City

Gazza Neville sent off.

Couldnt you guys have settled for a 3-1 win like i predicted. I mean really 4-2 is just greedy :D

WTF happened? I watched the first half and then had to go out to dinner. Was listening on the radio for a while and learned that we were put under so much pressure. Arrived at the restaurant, they had a TV and it was 3-1... WTF?

I`ve just come back from the pub. Fookin` hammered! United were clinical today - Ronaldo was AWSOME. Our defence was a bit dodgy, but we beat the Shitty, and got to see Neville headbutt that shite player, Mc "I am a scouser yet I play for a below-par Manc club"Manaman. We are going through to the next round . . . . .

siralexisatwat sort this out mods - the guy sounds a complete as*wipe.

Great headbutt on macca, ref was right, he should have gone. But can Man utd afford to lose G. Neville for 3 games especially with the state of their defense at the moment?

No mate, not at all! We are fooked without Neville . . . .

France manager Jacques Santini has admitted he would have called up Louis Saha had he still been playing for Fulham.

The striker has grabbed three goals in as many games since moving to Manchester United in the January transfer window.

His good form has prompted the French coach to bring him into the national team squad for the first time in his career.

"We have not waited for him to join Manchester United to start monitoring him," stated Santini.

"If he had not gone to Manchester we would have probably called him up even though he was playing with Fulham."

Saha has not been joined in the party for the friendly against Belgium by Nicolas Anelka.

The Manchester City front-man was once again overlooked and now seems unlikely to be involved for his country in the Euro 2004 finals this summer.

He has been ignored by Santini since rejecting a call-up for a friendly against Yugoslavia in 2002 and this latest snub appears to suggest the 24-year-old may never return to the international fold while the current coach is still at the helm.

"As far as I'm concerned I remain faithful to my principles and I repeat that Nicolas Anelka will not be called up for Belgium v France," explained Santini.

Gary Neville is a disgrace, the FA should throw the book at him and give him a hefty fine and at least a six match ban. He headbutted a fellow pro FFS!! Remember our battle of OT in September, nothing like this happened and yet we were murdered in the press. Lets see what happens to you...

If he gets a 3 match ban he will just be back in time for the Arsenal game, if it's any longer which I doubt it will he'll be fine for the game at Highbury.

Oh what a wonderful weekend, no matter how shit they are it always feels good beating the berties and we well and truly shit all over the bitter blues on Saturday especially after them going on about the "greatest FA cup game ever" with spurs.

What a feckin waste of time they are!!!

Keano, Scholes, Ruud & Howard we're the stand out players but tbh we could have had frankie howard in net and still beat the blue shite. Keegan is completley inept as a manager, with our defense leaking goals left and right what does kev do, goes and fields his most defensive side, with blobby fowler up front on his own FFS and then when we've got 10 men he doesnt even bring another striker on, feckin bobbins, they are going down and they know it !!

And I dont know what was up with Giggsy but if he cant skin Dunne, who is with out a doubt the fattest player in the league, then he needs to hang his reeboks up for good :)

So with two derby wins this year already and a visit to the blues new council house on the horizon it'll make up for the lack of derbies next year cos of their pending relegation......

From the M.E.N

'MANCHESTER United have no concrete plans to increase the capacity of Old Trafford to 75,000.
But there is an intention for United officials to discuss the possibility of "filling in" the corners where the North Stand meets the West and East stands, adding a further 7,000 seats to the current 68,210.
A United spokesman would confirm nothing of the proposal other than to say: "The board has not considered any plans", but the estimated extra £6m a year revenue is enough to make it viable.
United have abandoned plans to extend the South Stand due to the proximity of housing and the difficulties of building over the railway at that side of the ground, but are constantly looking at ways to improve the ground.'

Well ive heard that work is gonna start this summer. Im all for it, putting another tier on the south stand was never gonna happen but at least there are other options, OT at 75K will be  and keeps us ahead of the competiton.

Jaap Stam is available! I hope Fergie and him could sort out their differences and he could re-sign for us!! He would definitely provide cover and more for Rio Ferdinand.Very unlikely indeed...

Manuel Pellegrini is being lined up to become Sir Alex Ferguson's number two at Manchester United, reports say.

The Chilean coach is believed to be interested in a high-profile role in Europe since quitting his post at Argentine side River Plate last season.

"Manuel has been invited to send his CV to Manchester United," said Pellegrini's agent Luis Incera

From BBC sport

Well Ferguson doesnt exactly rate Jaap Stam either, he had a major flaw in his game, Fergie recognized it and got rid....

He is still a huge United supporter though and a personal favourite due to his exploits during The Treble season and the season after....

VIDUKA MISSES TRIP TO OLD TRAFFORD

The Australian Soccer Association have decided to invoke Fifa's five-day ban on forward Mark Viduka, meaning he will not play against Manchester United on Saturday.

The Leeds United man did not turn up for his nation's friendly against Venezuela after withdrawing from the squad due to an injury he had picked up in the recent Premier League match with Wolves.

However, the ASA did not believe the injury was severe enough to stop the player from appearing in the friendly and have contacted the game's governing body to see the ban is carried out. Socceroo's team-mate Scott Chipperfield of Basel has also been banned for five days for the same reason.

"In this decision ASA has taken a sympathetic view of the circumstances of all players but ultimately decided there were grounds for invoking Article 40 of the Fifa regulations in the case of Mark Viduka and Scott Chipperfield," a statement from the ASA said.

"In the case of Mark Viduka, the ASA emphasises that while it is sympathetic to Mark's personal situation, it notes he has played twice for Leeds since returning from Australia to visit his ill father.

"Furthermore, ASA is not satisfied that Mark has sustained an injury which would have prevented him taking the field in Caracas."

The news of Viduka's absence will be a bitter blow to the Yorkshire club who are desperately trying to stave off the threat of relegation.

Happy days, good news for us . . . . .

I feel you would still win against Leeds even if Viduka did play because Man Utd are up against it now and any slip up would be very costly, so they will be all out for a win.

Sky Sports News - Paul Scholes charged with violent behaviour against an opponent during Man utd's game with Middlebrough.

Scholes gets charged and quite right too!!

Probably be a fine and a 1 game ban.

That would be ridicolous.

But it's Man Utd, the FA wouldn't want to offend them

True but look what happened to Rio just for missing a drugs test! Scholes will get a 3 match ban because it was for violent behaviour and a fine on top.
