Manchester United Thread

You mean Keane ALLOWED him to do what he does best. If we get someone like Diarra, Scholes would once again get that freedom assuming he still has the ability to play up to his standard.

Shocking stats:
Ronaldo led the league in free kicks on target last season (19)
United were tied with Bolton for the most headed goals last season (!)

Just read those on skysports, would never have guessed either!
Reports that Inter want Ruud...Adriano anyone? :)

Again, that phrase 'he can only get better'. This actually means that he can't get any worse. David Bellion can only get better, he can't get any worse.

He needs to get better at anticipation & build up play.

What planet are you from Keane made Schole a better player than he is? He gave him the licence to go forward & score goals.

Diarra is the guy to do this again just look at Tiago at Lyon. Flopped at Chelsea , now a revelation.

I would love adriano at the club i think he would have a huge impact. Those that say he is moody, so what. Henry is moody, RVN is moody aand to a certain extent Rooney is moody in a fiery way.

Defoe would be a good signing and the amount of strikers Tottenham have now it likely he could leave but its wether we actually go in for him or not.

Need young & hungry strikers. Hes a shit load better than Saha

Think he'd go?

I dont think so, i think he'll stay. As he said he has unfinished business at United. But what happened to Benfica's former coach Koeman, did he get sacked?

Hes at PSV!

Just notice Drogba plans to leave chelsea and crespo is aswell. So expect some hijacking for when United go in for some strikers, like torres and adriano maybe.

So haven't you just contradicted yourself?

Thank god someone agrees with me on Saha! I would swap him for Defoe(i know people dont agree) but i just think Defoe is quality a& a player that can only get better. Whereas Saha seems the finished article already & thats crap. He has no awareness & crap control.

Would not mind Gravesen to bolster squad as he will only be about 3-4 million & hes a good solid player
i think you guys are NUTS for wanting defoe over saha... saha can play that post role, the forward who can play with his back to the goal and knock off balls for rooney... he is GREAT in the air and is a deft finisher, he also can dribble.. saha is quality, much better then defoe...

I'd like to see Saha more. See what he's like next season. Defoe was great a year ago but hasn't been that good this year.

No YOU said made him a better than he is. Keane gave him freedom!

You basically said Scholes would be crap without Keane which is laughable.

Hope to see a return to form of scholes next season. He'll have had more than enough of a break, and if we get someone who can take care of the defending for him, we'll be that little bit more dangeours. I wouldn't mind seeing him at the front of the middle 3 in a 4-3-3:

--------VDS---------
-Gary-Rio-Wes-Heinze-
---Diarra/Whoever---
----------Giggs-----
------Scholes--------
-Ronaldo-----Rooney-
-----Saha/RVN------

he really doesn't have the pace to be a CMF, and his tackling is AWFUL so it makes much more sense to put him further up the field where he can utilise his strengths.

Hee Hee Lions - Rio Tricks Team-Mates For TV Gotchas
England star Rio Ferdinand has played a series of hilarious "Gotcha" pranks on his World Cup team-mates for a new TV show. The Manchester United ace winds up crocked striker Wayne Rooney - who is told his dog has been killed. Roo's fiancée Coleen McLoughlin plays along with the trick - before Rio bursts in to tell him it's a joke. In another Candid Camera-style prank, fiery full-back Gary Neville’s anger boils over when he is confronted by bogus traffic cops. Man Utd team-mate Ryan Giggs joins in on the gag as Gary is collared in the car park underneath his Manchester flat. He fiercely protests his innocence, then Rio steps in with a camera crew to a tirade of abuse from his furious club colleague.

No, you said the word crap, not me. I never said he was a bad player. I just said that Keane made him look better than he probably is. Keane gave him freedom by doing all his dirty work. Scholes can't tackle.
Is Frank Lampard the second best player in the world? Fifa think so, but he wouldn't be nearly as good at Newcastle or Everton. Makalele makes Lampard look better than he probably is.

I think Rio has been watching too much of MTV's Punk'd! :D

Very extreme, I can't see how that can help team morality, yes it's a joke but some people could take it the wrong way.

The MORALITY of the team? I know it's immoral to pretend someone's dog is dead but when we were ever that worried about a team's morals? I leave that to the religious-types.

I'd be much more worried about team morale.

:lmao:

As i'm posting anyway:

Fergie Chases Keeper
Sir Alex Ferguson wants to sign West Brom keeper Tomasz Kuszczak to give Edwin van der Sar competition at United. The £5million-rated Poland star was one of the few players to emerge with credit from West Brom's relegation season.

Inter Plot £10m Raid For Ruud
Inter Milan are poised to make a £10million bid for Manchester United outcast Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Italian giants are understood to have sounded out van Nistelrooy's agent and United about the prospect of signing the out-of-favour Dutchman. Although United value van Nistelrooy higher than £10m, they are understood to be willing to accept Inter's offer.

I just read that Rio has made a bet with Sir Alex that he'll score 10 goals next season. If he does, Sir Alex will style his hair like Rio.
