I agree with the Howard point. He's been amazing, didn't think he'd be first team when he got here more of a back up but his reactions are second to none.

Yeah I never thought he be half as good but its no suprise yanks make good keepers.

Lets not hope the rest of the players get up to Howards standards otherwise they could beat us at a sport that matters. :shock: :shock: :shock:

Nah I dont think they'll make better outfield players than footballing countries but we've got a young yank striker, Kenny Cooper, and he looks a very good prospect.

With got quite a promising Yank centre back, Frankie Simek. Along with the footy legend to be Freddy Adu their young squads are handling themselves quite well. Did you see them give us a lesson in the under 16's.

No I didnt see that.

They are probley a better sporting country than us in terms of attitude towards sport and winning so once they get more clued up about footy they will be a force one day.

abit harsh that mate,

politically I dont like what the states stands for but you cant deny their sporting prowess, or the way they run them. I spose cos they've always been good at sports that we dont play that I dont dislike them like I dislike the aussies.

They do have a superior population though. Only found out today we have a higher population than France, I always thought cause they are such a big country they had more. Why can't we produce footballers as good as theirs, We have more peeps :x

darren fletcher looked to have a good game last night and tim howard was just brilliant

Shit I forgot bout' Fletcher...

He had his best 90mins yesterday, I do think he's gonna be a good player but he's missed some important development cos he had some bad injuries, but yesterday he looked the bizz.

Once Ole comes back we'll have a much more balanced side, and Fletcher is gonna have to earn his place, at the mo Fergie's been sharing the games between Fletcher and Ronaldo and with Ronalod back in Portugal it only leaves Fletch, at the mo he's a better all round football than Ronnie (especially when it comes to simple things) but Ronnies got a fearlesness that Fletch hasnt when it comes to attacking, and it shows.

I really rate Fletcher - I loved his little cut-back in Boltons box (ooh!) :)

Ninja, do you have your location as UK cause you don't live near Manchester and you don't want to draw people to this fact.

Looks like Howard stole the show according to everyone involved last nite.

Big Sam:

"What won United the game was probably the goalkeeper. He made some wonderful saves in both halves. When we were looking for some fortune the ball did not drop right. Even when the goalkeeper messed up for the first time it would normally have trickled in but it was not to be."

Ruud:

"He is world class and what a story it is so far, coming from the American league and doing so well right from his first game. He has helped us through lots of games this season and I think he is up there with the best in the world and that is an unbelievable achievement. If you talk to him you know where he is coming from and what he has achieved. He was in Feyenoord in Holland for a week's trial and they said he wasn't good enough then he comes to United and shows he is up there with the best in the world. He has got great character."

& Tim (on himself)

"There haven't been too many changes. I think the manager has been trying to do that and make it the staple of our team. We've done well so far. I knew coming here was going to be difficult, and it still is. I need to learn - I see that day in, day out. But, I'm happy with my own performances, though I know they can get better. I need to cut out some mistakes but, I think my performances will get better."

Hmmm still no number two for Fergie but one of his primary targets drops hint:

Martin Jol:

"I don't have the intention to renew my contract again. RKC must go forward and so must I. Marcel Brands [RKC director] knows what I have planned.''

One of the our transfer targets (and probley a million other clubs) doesnt seem that interested in a transfer after all...

Vieri:

"I am not interested in the transfer market. It is part of a system that one day puts you in one place and the other day places you in another. Will I stay? Yes, I want to stay, but I would have to talk to Massimo Moratti at the end of the season."

Think he's on a free this summer aswell....

You've just signed Liam Miller.

I told you we would!!!

Only a pre-agreement mind....

From PA

'Celtic midfielder Liam Miller is on the verge of signing a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United. The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland man has impressed Sir Alex Ferguson after breaking into the first team at Parkhead this season.

An announcement is to be made in the near future but the news will come as a big disappointment to Celtic boss Martin O'Neill, who was just celebrating the imminent arrival of Stephen Pearson.

O'Neill had been in talks with the Cork-born youngster and his agent about his future. But the discussions have dragged on, with the player's current contract due to expire in the summer and United look to have moved just in time.'

looks like we've just signed the long term replacement for mad dog keano, it seems Sir Alex is looking to build a very young squad that can gel and grow together and hopefully continue our dominance in the premiership

We dont do bad of what we do that, as gooner ytou should know that youve watched us dominate the league for long enough :)

Anyway we've never really signed "big" players, we've made a few big players and thats how I like it cos thats what we're all about.

Save the other stuff for Madrid etc.....

Anelka cost 500k
Viera cost 3.5m
Ljungberg cost 4.5m I think
Sol cost nothing!!!!
Even Henry only cost 10.5 mil and we got a lot for our money.

Every season you spend 10mil + on a player.

You missed out ya record signing Wiltord :)

No every season since 98/99 we've spent big, I mean we've always spent big money and broke transfer records granted, but:

Ole = just over a mill
Cantona = a mill
Schmeichal = 500k

plus all the players that have broke thru the ranks, add our trophy haul and its pretty impressive really.

Shit look at Ruud, £19.5 mill and Chelsea said they'd pay £60mill,

thats not a bad return.

Anyway mate when clubs know you've got plenty cash it alters the buying price.

Becks=Free
Giggs=Free
Butt=Free

and we're doing the same with the like of Fletcher and O'Shea so dont start that nonsense
