Manchester United Thread

funny as fuck to see the press jump all over the saha story, Fergie a bully, at least tell us some news FFS.

IMO nearly all big clubs dont "follow" transfer rules, maybe if these players didnt come expressing a desire to play at OT we wouldnt have this situation, but of course if you wanna get your name in the paper as much as some people then you wont follow that thinking.

Our next FA cup game has been switched to a sunday so they can get it on TV also its been said that there is no chance of having the tie switched to another venue.

During times like christmas you think of those less fortunate, as a United supporter you only have to look across the city to our struggling (once) neighbours...

Spare a thought for Kev, its not easy for him, he asks God to help him though it though I reckon he'll need more than prayers lol:

"This month, as always, there are two or three managers who
are under pressure because their results are not good enough
- and I am one of them.

"It tends to be a roundabout and please God, next month it
will be someone else. If it isn't I will be more worried
than I am now."

Cheer up Kev!!!

LOL dont know if Saha will be welcome at Harrods after this.

Don't worry Louis, the Trafford Centre ain't far from fortress Carrington....

this from skysports.com:

The Louis Saha saga has taken another twist after the striker reacted angrily to Fulham's decision to deny him a move to Manchester United.
Both Whites chairman Mohamed Al Fayed and manager Chris Coleman have revealed that they have no intention of letting Saha leave - despite United's interest.

Saha has always stated that he would not turn a move to Old Trafford down, and now he has gone further by slamming his current employers for shunning United.

"On Tuesday morning, my club confirmed they don't want to let me leave. I am really disgusted, almost downcast," he told L'Equipe.

The 25-year-old confirmed that United had lodged a second offer of £8 million for him.

"A transfer to Manchester, it was a good deal for everyone. They proposed £8 million! It was very good for Fulham," he opined.

"All the same I am not Ronaldo! And I had the opportunity to join one of the greatest clubs in the world. It was the chance of my life.

"Of course Manchester won't contact me again in six months, they will have signed another forward by then!

"I really can't understand the position of chairman Al Fayed. I thought I could leave for what I have done. I have given a lot to Fulham."

Saha will not be handing a transfer request to Fulham, but he has now gone as far as possible and will just be hoping that United come back with an improved offer.

Poor lad, I hope we can sign him, its obvious what the lad wants, like he said he's helped Fulham establish themselves as a Prem side why not let him move on......

Now Saha is saying he should be allowed to leave! Another succesful Fergie tap up! I grudgingly admire him.....

He could get some heat about this though.

Yeah Saha will catch some heat.

LOL how was he tapped up, just because we made a bid, give it a rest, if Fergie was tapping players he's be reported cos its illegal.

lol it was implied in Stams book but if PSV had such a problem why continue to do business??

the papers are full of sh*t and you lot lap it up :)

He wont though!!!! :(

Im looking forward to tonite even more now, im in the bolton end so i'd should be a laff!!

Team news is that Rio and O’Shea both fit and should return to the starting line up,as will Roy Keane and Ruud Van Nistelrooy after their rest
on the weekend. Fergie has warned against taking Bolton’s threat too lghtly.

"Bolton are a good side," admitted Ferguson. "The danger is
underestimating them. If we do that we will be in bother."

Yeah well im hoping we;ve learnt our lesson now fergie!!!

Sir Alex also cracked a joke about the fact the Okocha will be playing tonight.

"Jay-Jay was supposed to be on African Nations Cup duty with Nigeria this week," he said. "It's a disgrace that Sam has been able to wangle him out of that so he can play against us."

He's got a point actually, we've had to release Djemba so why's Okocha still here??

Don't make the mistake the gooners at St Mary's did that ended up leaving the stadium in a shower of punches after they stirred up trouble in the Saints end.

Nah mate i'll be reet :)

Im going with some fellas who are season ticket holders at the reebok and I wouldnt wanna get them into shit so i'll either keep my gob shut (if I have anything to shout about that is) or worm my way into the away section.

I'm surprised it comes down to me to explain tapping up when your gaffer is clearly the expert, but here we go:

On the quiet, Fergie sounds out Saha's agent. Agent tells player about interest (illegal). Agent responds in the affirmative, unless it's Shearer. Fergie then speaks to one of his more trusted journalists, says he would like someone 'like' Saha. Journalist rights an exclusive which Fergie can then deny. The player has his head full of promises from Fergie, doesn't find Fulham quite so appealing and decides he wants to leave. All done through the press so embarassing for the selling club.

Fulham want an end to the embarassing situation, which means Fergie can then offer a lower price than he would have if Saha was happy at Fulham! It's textbook. We did it with Veron, but Fergie is still the master.

the papers are full of sh*t and you lot lap it up :)

Surely you want to finish that with a  , not a :)

Well thats why I wanted you to type it out, every club does the same just that some clubs dont have the pull of others when it comes to exerting "outside influence".

The papers like to make out like we are the only ones at it but its rife in football.

I wish Fergie was a master, he rarely gets involved in transfers and looking at it, surely the player he wanted most last summer (Bucky) would've been with us now

Just been told Siddy beat us 2-1 in a reserve game last nite.

Kenny Cooper scored for us and reports are that this kid looks shit hot!!

Okocha scored one of the best goals I've ever seen a few seasons ago back in france. Long range (typically).

Vann why the hell are you in the Bolton end, mate? You going with your friend, who is a Bolton fan, right? It will be a tough game tonight, be a cracker, too I reckon - especially if Bolton knock the ball around like they did against Arsenal.

Yeah they are bolton fans, we go out in Bolton quite alot cos it doesnt have the attitude that Manchester has and the fanny is alot friendlier, so ive got a few peeps up that way, I took them to the United/Bolton game and looked after them so they offered to return the favour, also cos they reckon they are gonna beat us they want me there:mrgreen:, lol people think im a bad wind up on here (and i have to tone it down), you should see me in the flesh my mates who are non-United supporters wont even talk to me about footy :)

Anyway do you know how hard it is to get away tickets for United!!!

Should be a cracker tonite!!!

I'd be amazed if he lived within 100 miles of Manchester nevermind the ticket office 8) .

What are you talking about, surely all Man Utd fans live in Manchester? Don't they?

Well we have more season ticket holders in Manchester than city, I'd say between 45-50K hardcore Manc supporters.

Its real easy to get tickets for our home games if your a member but away games, shit you'd get turned down if you offered ya good kidney.

I went to Upton Park (all the family are West Ham heads) and Highbury last year for away Premiership games. Saw that stunning Ruud goal against the Goons, and the 2 dodgy goals from them. So getting London tickets ain`t too hard. I`ve only managed 6 Old Trafford games this season (Arsenal, Bolton, Rangers, Manchester City, Fulham (gutted) and Aston Villa) was also at the Charity Shield clash in Cardiff, am on the highlights in the crowd for a split second when my mate throws the ball to Neville!

Not this boring subject again - what, so you don`t see Arsenal shirts walking around in Cardiff? There are hundreds of them.

Another 3 points for the Red Devils, with the Goons only getting a point from Everton - great stuff, a good night.
United done well to hold on at the end, and Howard is proving he is gonna be one heck of a keeper to beat.
I`d like to congrat Bolton on their display - they are proving their worth in the Premiership. Great to see Scholes bagging the goals again too. 3 in 2 games. Class.

Look - Silvestre with hair!

I think it could be.

I have to say well done, getting a result at the reebok isn't easy. I can see a record prem points haul from the winner this year. ;)

metallica said:
what is the record ?

whats the record for the goals scored and goals conceded aswell ?

most games won ?
least games lost ?

just premiership no old divisons

The record points is 92 set by Man Utd in 93/94 but that was with 42 games, the record for a 38 game season was 91 by Man Utd in 99/00. Goals scored record for both 38 and 42 game season was set by Man Utd in the same 99/00 with 97.

I feel like Motty. ;)

That bloke IS John Carew,he had that afro like hair do when he first transferred from Valencia.BTW,Silvestre had dreadlocks when he was at Inter.

Good nite of footy last nite!!!

I wasnt sure before the match but when I got there and they we're showing Boltons wins at OT from previous seasons, I knew we'd do em'.

Ive got a few mates up that way but as a whole Bolton supporters are wankers, they hate us just as much as city, but I do like Big Sam.

Anyway we was worth the three points, for me Giggs was the star of the show but Howard won us the game really, the kid is shit hot!! Its only his 1st season I know (Barthez was shit hot aswell his 1st season and just ended up shit) but at this rate he could be the difference between winning and losing the league this year. Silvestre had his worst game for a while, he looked like the Silvestre of old but he redeemed himself albeit slightly.

I said all yesterday that I fancied the both sets of mickey mousers to get good results, and I wasnt wrong.

The gap isnt enough to get excited about but with possible signings and the return of Ole I can see why the bookies have us odds on.

I agree with the Howard point. He's been amazing, didn't think he'd be first team when he got here more of a back up but his reactions are second to none.
